UF Athletic Director to Students: 'We Failed You'

Ticket

ABC News On Campus reporter Robert Bradfield blogs:

University of Florida students are throwing the flag at Ticketmaster and the University Athletic Association for a glitch that prevented them from purchasing tickets to the SEC championship football game in Atlanta against Alabama Dec. 6.

Florida students were instructed to use Ticketmaster to buy the $45 ticket, but students say the Web site only had international delivery for tickets, meaning that U.S. addresses were not an option at the time of purchase.

This is the first year the UAA has used an online ticketing ordering system.  In previous years, students had to call in and enter a lottery.  Tickets were then distributed according to the number of credits students had accumulated. That created headaches for students, especially seniors, who would have had priority over underclassmen  but were denied.

Now we've transitioned to the Internet.  And let's face it. The Internet can't solve all of our problems.  Ordering tickets has only gotten worse, according to the reaction I have seen and heard.  UF senior Ralph Shaw speaks for many students. "Personally, I think they should redo the whole system … it's totally unfair."

Not all students were deterred.  UF junior Keith Scott chose a different country, and his order went through.

Tuesday night  Ticketmaster issued a statement: "Ticketmaster would like to express its deepest regrets to the students of the University of Florida for this very unfortunate event." UF Athletic Director Jeremy Foley added, "We apologize to all of the UF students. ... We failed you."

It won't be the same watching the Gators play for a potential spot in the BCS title game on our TV screens, but that seems to be our only option.

You wish. Gators will own any Big XII team that dares show up in Miami. Deal with it.

Apologies like "to express its deepest regrets... and "We failed you" mean nothing! Stop the non-sense. The fact is that we got screwed and they haven't done anything to help us now.
If they really wanted to do something about it, they should try to sell another 1,500 student tickets so that the large quantity of us students that tried to buy tickets, the only way we can afford, can actually go to the game.
Ticketmaster and UF - This is what you did. UF'ed us!

stop wasting money this junk. its bad enough that these so called student atheletes are brought into a university with lower grades and test scores than the rest of the university population.
