What's on Your Christmas Wish List?

November 29, 2008 2:29 PM

ABC News On Campus reporter Carly Swain blogs:

As I sat down on my cozy couch at home during the Thanksgiving break with a plate of reheated leftovers, I noticed that news programs were highlighting Black Friday store stampedes.  The programs were interrupted only by advertisements that claim certain stores can help parents check off their child's holiday wish list.

That’s when I realized that I hadn’t made a wish list.  Time seems to have gotten away,  eaten up by
papers, projects and the looming job search.

So I started thinking, "What would be on my wish list, should I make one?" Needless to say, things are a bit different now than when I made a list 10 years ago.

At 12, I was dreaming about getting a Furby.  This year, I was super-excited to get my Tina Fey-inspired glasses.  I'd rather find a stocking stuffed with shampoo or body wash and I'd rather have coffee than candy.

This made me curious -- are any other college students thinking about how their wish list has changed over the years? What’s on your wish list?

How about Peace on Earth and Goodwill towards men (and women). The best things in life aren't things. Sheesh.

I wish Dems win in Georgia, so that they get control of the whole US Congress.

This will bring a Big Cheer during:
1. Christmas time
2. New Year Celebrations
3. Inauguration Day
4. 8 years ahead of us all

I see alot of people wanting this and that, new phone, a new couch, well I don't want anything, but.. my mom is on food stamps, and eating government cheese, she's 80+ and she's cleaning her car for the junkyard to take so she can get 50 or 100 bucks, It breaks my heart that I can't afford to buy her a new car.
Somewhere somebody has a car that's going to charity what charity "gives" a car?
shorely there must be a car for my MoM

I don't know what a "url" is, but I'm in sf I started a "xmas wish list" to give away stuff I don't need any more., but there was one person I couldn't help,my mom, she's to old to go back to work, (but she wants to)she's had several operations, and now she's on food stamps. The irs took her "insentive $300" and her car is dead. If you have a car your going to donate or know where I can get her one
