Michelle vs. Cindy: Searches for the Next First Lady
June 19, 2008 1:20 PM
Just how important are Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain to their husbands' presidential bids? If search terms are any indication, they are among the most important factors. For the last four weeks ending June 14, 200
8, of the top 10 search terms containing "McCain," six terms were for Cindy McCain, with searches such as "Cindy McCain Beer Fortune," "Cindy McCain Rodeo Queen" and "Cindy McCain Vogue" accounting for more than 52 percent of top McCain searches. In contrast, Michelle Obama appears twice in "Obama" searches, accounting for 9 percent of search volume for the top 10 queries.
When you compare Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama head-to-head in search volume, Michelle Obama has taken the lead as of last week, with more than 10 times the search volume as Cindy McCain.
Search data reveal that political platform and character are taking second-seat to interest in photos and television appearences for our next first lady.
