FAA Tapes Reveal Obama Jet Drama
August 14, 2008 5:38 PM
The unexpected landing of Sen. Barack Obama's plane was indeed an emergency despite earlier efforts to downplay the incident, ABC News' Investigative team reported Thursday.
Audio tapes of the plane landing on July 7 in St. Louis revealed that the pilots declared the situation an emergency. The pilots also asked that the emergency equipment at the airport be deployed in the event of a crash landing. According to ABC News' Investigative unit, the Federal Aviation Administration now says its original statements were incorrect.
Watch "World News With Charles Gibson" TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. ET for the full report.
When Obama's plane made its unplanned landing en route to Charlotte, the pilot's first officer said the plane was experiencing controllability issues. Obama later addressed the surprise events.
Later that day, the carrier said the plane's safety was not an issue, but the National Transportation Safety Board chairman Mark Rosenker said the landing was a very serious incident.
Photos released a few days later showed that an inflatable slide had inadvertently deployed during flight.

Obama is back ... more Obama Drama in the media. Can we focus on some real issues please?
Posted by: Here we Go Again | Aug 14, 2008 5:52:23 PM
Yes, let's focus on real issues. Like how McCain's top foreign policy advisor received almost $1B lobbying for Georgia, how McCain wants to re-start the cold war, how McCain wants to privatize Social Security, how oil companies contributed $2M to his campaign after he called for a lift on the off-shore drilling ban. By all means, let's focus on those issues.

It is not unusual to declare an emergency when something goes amiss while airborne in your airplane ... it lets the controllers on the ground know that you have a problem. Asking for assistance in the event of an emergency landing is not unusual either. However, I am surprised that it wasn't played to the hilt though, like the majority of events/non-events BHO is involved in. Pelosi should be wetting her drawers in the expectationof dragging the FAA, etc., through the ground glass of of their mutated ire.

.
"wants to privatize Social Security".
Yes lets. If you like the 0 % return of social security you can have it. Let freedom reign. If I don't want it, it shouldn't be "forced" upon me. But then again, that's the only way looney left programs stick around... by "forcing" them upon people under the trhreat of government guns.

lets focus on unconditional worship of obama instead SHF
Posted by: tberx | Aug 14, 2008 6:59:23 PM
Tberx: what are you talking about?? I don't believe I even mentioned Obama's name. You guys who always go back to the 'Messiah' talking point when you have nothing substantive to say are funny. And it's "let's" as in "let us". Sorry, I'm one of those elites with a Master's degree.
El Jay: I would wager you are probably older than I am, but if you're so wealthy that you don't need any Social Security, then more power to you. I don't even actually understand your post. The government is forcing seniors to accept Social Security 'under the threat of government guns'? All seniors I know gladly accept it, look forward to it, feel they are entitled to it & have to have it to get by.
No comments from either about you about the GA situation or Randy Scheunemann??

Clinton Maintanence, at your service, nothing to see here, move along.

"entitled to it & have to have it to get by."
And there it is. What our country has become. We're all entitled to anything we want. We all get a share of the pie.
America is a bakery. Make your own pie. I'll stab you with a fork if you touch mine.

It's all George Bush's fault, I'm sure.
Posted by: Southern Girl | Aug 14, 2008 9:10:16 PM
"We're all entitled to anything we want." Ryan, they've paid into it. It's not a free hand out. I 'want' 10 houses & $100M (oops, that's McCain's milieu), but I didn't' marry into it, so I have to make the most of what I have & can earn in the future.
You must not need it & good for you. Would you propose we cut Social Security off right now? What is your proposal other than making inane, non sequiter comments?
Posted by: SHF | Aug 14, 2008 9:34:46 PM
The Social Security System is broken and beyond repair. But Dummocrats want to hang onto it as a means of controlling those who depend on it. The solution is Personal Retirement Accounts which pre-fund your individual retirement account, rather than the failed 'pay-as-you-go' nightmare that the Dems launched in the 1930's. The SHF guy/gal who says s/he has a Master's Degree, and who supports ZeroBama, must have a Master's in Pottery or Basketweaving.
Posted by: ZerOBama | Aug 14, 2008 9:45:52 PM
ZerOBama, why is the solution Personal Retirement Accounts? I'm open to other ideas (unlike some pockets of the population). Give specifics/links/stats/numbers/anything that an economist has stated on this other than just bashing me. What is your Master's degree in?
Posted by: SHF | Aug 14, 2008 9:53:46 PM
ZerObama:
Your fate should be one in which you need government help and it won't be forthcoming. I'll leave it to you to imagine some scenarios. Or you can visit Walter Reed Hospital.
BTW: Your ignorance of what the purpose of SS is, is staggering. Ever heard of widows and orphans?
And if you don't want your SS check when it comes, give it away. Don't be a hypocrite. Oh, and you're not taking any tax deductions, are you? Wouldn't want you to use one of those Gubmint hand-outs.

Everyone is forced to pay into Social Security, like it or not.
Posted by: Andrew Panken | Aug 14, 2008 10:30:24 PM
COULD YOU IMAGINE, GOD FORBID, IF THE PLANE DID CRASH????? CERTAINLY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GWB'S FAULT!!!!! I heard someone say Hillary's cousin is one of the traffic control leaders in Charlotte.
It's also been said that Hillary was seen putting fuel in that plane! Hmmmmmmm! What's the under and over on poor Obama's time in office?

Take away Social Security and the wealthy in this country will see millions of citizens organize themselves to topple the Corporate ruled system. The greedy, had better start to learn to play by the rules and be good stewards of the country or they will be kicked out of their homes and communities, much like in Cuba, in the late 1950's. American workers pay into Social Security and receive a benefit when they retire. Sadly without this basic benefit, millions of seniors would be homeless, hungry or worse. The GOP, aka Greedy Old Party needs to lighten up and show their so called compassion. If they do not, they will surely see in do time what plain folks do when push comes to shove. I hate it for them!

SHF - You may have a Master's Degree but it isn't in economics. Yes, seniors like their SS checks. However, if the money contributed to my Social Security account by me and my employers had been invested in an IRA - or just CD's, I would get several times the amount each month I get from Social Security. Figure it out sometime.
Posted by: Just_Facts | Aug 15, 2008 8:34:42 AM
Both Republican and Democratic governments have been stealing the SS for decades but the solution isn't necessarily to privatize. If the SS money were accounted for properly and invested sensibly, it would be fine. The 2 main parties are a gang of criminals. They should be brought up on RICO charges.
