Argentine Senator Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner may soon be Madame President. Here are some facts about Argentina’s current First Lady and presidential hopeful.
DOB: February 19th, 1953 (age: 54)
Education: Graduated from the school of Legal and Social Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata as a lawyer, where she met husband and fellow student, Nestor Kirchner.
Date of wedding to Nestor Kirchner: March 9th, 1975
Children: 2, Máximo and Florencia
Political affiliation: Left-leaning Partido Justicialista (PJ, peronista)
Political experience/career: In 1989 she was elected as provincial representative of the Patagonian province of Santa Cruz…Today she is the Senator of the Buenos Aires province.
Compared to: Eva Perón, Hillary Clinton...
An outspoken and strong-willed senator, Kirchner is accused by critics of being arrogant and obsessed with her appearance. Biographer Olga Wornat titled her book "Queen Cristina".
