What You Need to Know Now

October 20, 2008 4:16 PM

The bottom line on what you need to know right now:

-Not only did Barack Obama raise a record-breaking $150 million in September, we'll also learn his cash on hand numbers soon.

- The blame game has started within the McCain campaign over former Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama.

-52 percent of likely voters say John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running-mate has made them less confident in the kind of decisions he'd make as president, according to the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll.

Why did Zero spend 20 years in the hatred filled church that he denounces now?

The blame game has started within the McCain campaign over former Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama.
----

Is this rumor or for real?

Colin Powell is a war criminal just as much as George W. Bush is.

He sold to the world the lies of WMD, he destroyed the World trust on America, he promoted rigorously Bush's War on Iraq at the UN, he kept silence when he knew that everything went wrong in Iraq, and he is as much in bed as Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld themselves, and he did not say anything about his deputy who leaked a CIA operative's name to Novak.

Where is justice, Mr. Anti-War presidential candidate? Zero, purely zero.

Thank's for the update George...Beware of the attacks from the right that are sure to follow int his post though...I'm sure it fuels your fire as it does mine...

Hey Atom, go to the local video store, grab some DVD's of the Democratic Primary debates...And get your answer from those...We aren't addressing that in these last 2 weeks...Bigger fish to fry!

O and Joe!

George,

We also want to know why Zero ridiculed Hillary Clinton's proposal to use the $300 billion to target banking and mortgage meltdowns nearly One Year ago when the DOW was above 14000. Yet, Zero pushed for Bush's $600 cash giveaways to some of the voters to "stimulate" the economy, and congressional leaders were so happy to promote Zero to choose him as the Affirmative Action candidate to do anything for him such that they brushed aside HRC's solution for the real problem of the economy.

We now know for sure, 100% sure, that Zero's judgment on money giveaway turned out to be another boneheaded mistake, tanking the Stockmarket by 40%.

After decades of praising Colin Powell, why is the McCain campaign attacking Powell now?

Posted by: Dan | Oct 20, 2008 5:23:34 PM

Wow. Actual facts really don't matter to those against Obama. He is not the messiah, he is certainly not an affirmative action candidate. Both terms are highly derragotory and veil, ever so lightly, the true reasons for opposition to him. If McCain had policies and positions that he could show would be good for the country he'd be winning. It is that simple. Obamas policies nand positions aren't perfect, he is not likley to achieve everything he wants as President, and NO other President has either. Of the two of them I do think Obama will leave office with a country that is much better off. McCain/Palin do not believe in the freedom of choice, they believe that the heart of the American economy lay in big business as opposed to the middle class that supplies most of the demand in this country. John McCain does not understand that the goal of business is to make a profit, nothing more or less, and that equipment, domestic jobs or work for benefits or pay raises, is fought against. In the end, McCain's judgement, and policy stances are not correct, nor popular, you can't win the Presidency without at least one or the other. In addition the tenor of his campaign will leave him as being seen as a disgraced, bitter and bigoted old man. Everything he has done up to this point will be forgotten and he will not hang on to his senate seat after his current term, though he may just call it a retirement.

The freedom of the GOP:

Freedom of Choice: You are free to choose us, or you are a Threat to Society.

Freedom of Speech: You are free to repeat what we say, or you are un-Patriotic.

Freedom of Thought: You are free to think what we tell you, or you are un-American.

Freedom of Religion: You are free to be a Baptist, Presbiterian, or a Methodist, or you are a Terrorist.

Freedom to Pursue Happiness: You are free to pursue our happiness to the fullest extent.

I would just like to make a comment. From my understanding people are saying Powell is endorseing Obama because of race. I do not agree. If that was the case why when the 4 other Secretary of States endorsed Mcain was that not because of race. We could have easily said they were endorsing McCain because he was white and not Obama because he was black. Rush Limbaugh and Fox are just ridiculous.

The uneducated Palin voters fail to understand that to the majority in this country that this election moves beyond the party lines. The War, the Economy and Education are the driving factors.
Both sides can sling mud regarding associations, ethics and motives but what really matters when all is said and done? Who has the best plan to get us out of the mess the last 8 years have brough us?
That's why Obama is winning, that's why he has raised so much money from ordinary people in this country and that why the leading economist support Obama.

Is every one of your entries going to start with:
"ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports:"

Isn't that kind of obvious?

This ridiculous and endlessly repeated myth put forth by certain McCain supporters is something that needs to be debunked. That is, the notion that "95% of African-Americans are (solely) voting for Obama because he's black." In truth, it has more to do with party affiliation than anything else. In 2004, 88% percent of African-Americans voted for Kerry. In 2000, 90% voted for Gore. It all boils down to the fact that, ideologically speaking, the majority of African-Americans identify with the Democratic Party - and have for nearly the past 90 years. End of story.

I have to question Mr. Powell's motives. Supposedly as a republican, he couldn't work with the Bush Administration - remember, he was a part of it. Now he crosses his party lines to support Obama. I used to have the utmost respect for Mr. Powell, but not so sure any longer. Also, it is a fact that he, during the early Bush years, went before the United Nations to plead his case that Saddam Hussein had WMD's and had every intention of making more - he pleaded the case to go to war - so was he a liar too? I don't know how he and Obama can justify their opposite positions on this matter. A third point of interest: up until recently, supposedly being a close friend to McCain, Mr. Powell was advising both McCain and Obama - what is this? I really question Mr. Powells movtives in this move.

Three comments:
1. Mr. Powell was a member of the early Bush Administration and went before the United Nations, pleading his case that Iraq had WMD's and had every intention of making more. Is he considered a liar too, along with Pres. Bush? How can he justify this postion to Obama's who believes the opposite?
2. Mr. Powell, being a republican, could not get along with the Bush Administration. Now, he crossed his pary line again to support Obama. I seriously question his motives. I used to have the utmost respect for him, but don't know any longer.
3. Up until recently he was advising both the McCain and Obama campaigns - and him being a close frieng to McCain - what is this? Again, I question his motives.

The freedom of the Dems:
You are free to vote for whomever you want to as long as it is Obama or you are a racist.

In reality, Powell was compelled against his wishes, to lie in the UN to satisfy George Bush's ambition to attack Iraq. He made a fool of himself in the process. The situation and the pressure from Bush clans was so enormous that he was left with no choice. If he refused or resigned, immediately he would have been marked as traitor, anti American not only by Bush Admin but also by the large contingent of ignorant American who blindly believed and fell for Bush's lies.
I was neither supportive nor proud of his actions and I am sure he himself feels the same.
Unfortunately, he was the only honest, sensible, sincere, patriot who stuck out like sore thumb in the entire group of hawks Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitch.............
