Why Powell Did It
October 20, 2008 7:49 AM
Former Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama is huge.
This wasn't just an endorsement of Barack Obama. This was a rejection of John McCain, President George W. Bush, and the party they represent.
People close to Powell and Obama tell ABC News that Powell met with both McCain and Obama early in the summer and he told them both that his endorsement would depend on the conduct of the campaign, the conventions, the debates, and their choice of vice president.
Powell didn't speak to McCain again after that meeting. Obama followed up several times with phone calls to Powell and they spoke about foreign policy, national security, and domestic issues like education.
Obama courted Powell, but what helped to push Obama over the edge was the conduct of McCain's campaign and McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running-mate.
Powell, a four-star general, was also a bit rankled that McCain's team leaked the idea that the GOP candidate was perhaps considering Powell for vice-president, sources tell ABC News.
During his endorsement of Obama, Powell went out of his way to say that we need a president like Obama who would transform Bush's unilateral foreign policy. Powell took a direct hit on McCain's judgment by saying he picked a vice presidential candidate who wasn't ready to be president.
He absolutely repudiated the conduct of McCain's campaign by saying that bringing up former 1960's radical Bill Ayers is not a legitimate campaign issue in any way.
His endorsement is a real signal to moderate Republicans and independents that Barack Obama is okay. As former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said on "This Week" yesterday, Powell's endorsement pretty much eliminates the experience argument for people who are worried about Obama.
The bottom line? Powell really wanted to make sure that this endorsement mattered. It was very direct and very cutting.
A new ABC News/Washington Post poll suggests that Powell's views are in line with the American public.
Palin has proved to be a drag on the Republican ticket with 52 percent of voters saying they are less confident in McCain because he chose Palin as his running-mate.
The latest ABC/Post poll found 60 percent of voters believe the McCain campaign's Ayers attack is not a legitimate issue. The most optimistic person almost always wins in presidential races.
The poll found that 57 percent of independent voters say Obama is the more optimistic candidate, while 31 percent say that about McCain.

Thank you Colin Powell for saying what most Republicans think privately and doing what is best for our country.

Colin Powell doesn't matter to liberals.
Liberals vowed to forever hate him. They nolonger think he should be an American.
Unless only NOW do liberals find a new love with Colin Powell.
Liberals hypocrites???
Oh you better believe it!! Hypocrite is too small of a word to describe them.

We are a diverse country so why do you have to put color everywhere?
Posted by: kawasaki | Oct 20, 2008 8:44:41 AM
I am a liberal and I like Colin Powell. Always have. I think he got it right on for the choice of prez. McCain has sunk to new lows in this campaign.
Posted by: Jonathan | Oct 20, 2008 8:46:16 AM
Why do say liberal do not like Colin Powel? Actually, conservative do not like Colin Powel since he disengage from the Bush administration. The right media did a character attack on him. So, stop the BS.

Colon sold you lefties the Iraq war and now he's peddling race...
Posted by: Bubby | Oct 20, 2008 8:48:03 AM
Powell was very eloquent in his praise of both men. Early on he stated what he would base his decision upon as to who he would endorse if he chose to do so.
VP pick, conduct of the campaign, and candidate conduct.
It's pretty clear who made the better choice for VP, Palin's star is fallin faster than a lung shot moose. McCain has consistently been shown as erratic and his campaign has definitely taken a turn towards the negative. He hired the same group that robo called him into oblivion in 2000. He also has become quite adept at lying as has his VP choice.
Her declaration that the Alaska legislative report exonerated her of any ethical or legal misconduct, was like calling black, white, and night, day.
Obama is likely to win a landslide and we should see a government more transparent inclusive and bi-partisan than we have in the last 8 years.

Powell also has said that BO will give him a job as his advisor. The only thing that surprises me is, why Powell hasn't change parties yet. His days as a Republican are over.
Posted by: theGateKeeper | Oct 20, 2008 8:50:27 AM
What on earth? Who HATED General Colin Powell. Liberals and conservatives, alike respect him a great deal. Put down the kool aid - slowly. Get off the partisan band wagon. There have been plenty of mistakes and postive moves from both parties. Let's take the positive and run with it.
Posted by: Nichole | Oct 20, 2008 8:50:31 AM
Colin Powell spoke for ME - I am a disenfranchised Republican who will vote for Obama.
Another reason I will - the Republicans are breeding hate - Obama is not.
I do not care about skin color and I DO respect General Powell.
I'm now just another.....MAMA for Obama!!
Posted by: Cathy | Oct 20, 2008 8:52:27 AM
Yes, Colin Powell's true colors ARE revealed. He has chosen to place the needs of his country above his party's needs. Too bad there are not more like him.
Posted by: fragan4 | Oct 20, 2008 8:52:35 AM
Powell brings enormous prestige to Obama. His experience, character and common sense are undeniable. Powell's criticisms of McCain's undeniably negative campaign and the absurdity of McCain's choice for a VP are absolutely right on. It's high time people of character begin to demand accountability in campaigning and send the message to all politicians that Americans are decent and intelligent people who deserve, and will insist, on honest debate and an end to McCarthy-Limbaugh-Rovian-like character assassination, bold faced lies, and scare tactics. I'm praying for an Obama-Biden landslide. This country needs to give McCain and Palin, perhaps the entire GOP, a huge disciplinary TIME OUT. Send these monster children back to their rooms until they learn some decency, civility, and honesty.
Posted by: Maureen | Oct 20, 2008 8:52:54 AM
I am an indpndt. And would have like to see Colin Powell run back in 2000 and I think he would have made a great president.
However, I like the fact that he can see how bad the repubs are acting and he can break from his party for the GOOD OF HIS COUNTRY. No one can take that away from him.
A man of his stature after serving under 3 presidents can tell a real leader when he sees one. That is why he left GWB because he knew he was not a great leader and lied to the American people.
Posted by: Cindy from NC | Oct 20, 2008 8:53:17 AM
Why us liberal did not like is that Colin Powel supported the Bush administration at The UN by spreading lies on Saddam hussein weapon of Mass Destruction. He was just the voice of the Bush administration and hate him at that time. I remember so he was the guy talking about Irak that if you break it then you own it. he try everything in his power to stop the Bushes war monger.

It was a surprise becasue I though he had already
endorsed him long ago.
Posted by: Jane | Oct 20, 2008 8:54:09 AM
I respect Powell highly. I am much more comfortable voting for Obama now, as I had planned on doing anyway.
Posted by: Gilligan | Oct 20, 2008 8:54:44 AM
Either Powell was wrong on Iraq and therefore you should not trust his judgement on anything including racially charged presidential politics.... or he was right and Obama is wrong in which case you cannot trust Obama's judgement on anything... which seems to be a pattern with Obama... (Ayers, Wright, Phleger, Acorn, Fannie Mae, Biden, Iraq, the bailout etc...)
"Obamahood" and his band of looneymen want to redistribute the wealth from us (real taxpayers) to government so that they can decide where to apply it via affirmative action type programs...

Generals supporting McCain: 10
Generals supporting Obama: 1(ret.)
Let liberals stick their own feet in their mouth about the meaning of a single retired general endorsing The One.
Posted by: Yeah, finially a gen. endorsement! | Oct 20, 2008 8:54:58 AM
I agree with "k" - do we really want a totally democratic run country????? It's frightening!!!!! People don't think Palin is ready yet they'll allow Pelosi to RUN our government. I don't want government running the country!!! We may as well be in a dictatorship! I think Palin has taken more hits than anyone else in politics. I admire her stamina against the media. I believe she's stronger than people want to believe!
Posted by: Jill | Oct 20, 2008 8:55:05 AM
I believe that Colin Powell has the right views on how Obama is very capable of being our President. I don't feel any of the previous Presidents knew exactly what to do until they were in that position. I hope that this will show everyone that we are all equals and Obama has the education and common sense to understand what the common people needs in a leader
Posted by: Renitta Gaddie | Oct 20, 2008 8:55:42 AM
People obviously don't know how much the Bush Administration (Rumsfeld) dissed Mr Powell. Powell wanted to go into Iraq with 500,000+ troops. However, he was ridiculed by Rumsfeld and Cheney. That's the reason why he mentioned the mismanagement of the war yesterday. Remember shock and awe? McCain supported it fully and I think Powell remembers that. Now we know we should have had a much larger force in Iraq than we initially had. Hence, the surge worked.

George is a moron and backstabber. He knifed the Clintons in the back as soon as he got the power of the This Week job as host. Either one will fail, Colin Powell endorsement or not. Both side have been negative, BOTH SIDES just because you don't want to admit it, doesn't mean it is not true. You have put BO on such a pedeatal that you have raised him above human form with the same flaws we have. He is human and he is only for making history and he will fail on most of his policies and issues. Mark my words! What happens with you when you finally realize that the man is as human as you are? I hope that you will be prepared to "pick yourself up, wipe yourself off and start all over again". Don't you see that what you are expecting are miracles from this man? That makes it very hard for a person to be a real person. This is the real world people and there are flaws and potholes to contend with and a Congress full of people, no matter who is in control, that lean towards the big power brokers, not the little people! Learning the hard knocks in life is what builds character. If this is your first time to vote, than you will see the process as it really works, not the way the press or any candidate tells you it will work. Nothing has changed over the years and you don't want gov't in your life. If you think it sucks now wait until BO ( who will win) tries to keep his promises. You poor souls!!!
Posted by: Cathy | Oct 20, 2008 8:56:09 AM
YouLiberalsHatedThisMan: The difference Powell's endorsement will make is to the independants and swing voters. To the "Liberal" it makes no difference, they were voting for Obamam anyway. The "Conservatives" were voting for McCain. So your point is what? Are you worried now? IF you watched the entire 7 minutes of his explanation you would know that it was a very lucid comment on the state of the Presidential race. Powell shows why he is where he is.

Powell's decision? Ahh, same feathers flock together, or say blood is thicher than water.
Posted by: Analyst | Oct 20, 2008 8:57:40 AM
Good of his country... he is the epitome of hypocricy and traitor... the inhumanity and injustice of abortion supercedes any horror stories about slavery a hundredfold... to wink at that via "endorsement" is a slap in the face to justice...

Powell had no choice. If you're a black person in America and don't support Obama (I am and I don't) then you will be an outcast in your local black community. People you've known your whole life will call you a traitor to your race. This exact thing is happening all over the U.S. in the black communities. Believe it or not, not all black people are mesmerized by Senator Obama they just can't publicly say so.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe having a domestic terrorist like Bill Ayers as a close friend is a good thing. It allows for great relations with foreign terrorists.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe illegal aliens deserve all the rights of ordinary Americans plus some additional rights Americans do not have.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe corporations should pay higher taxes! I believe higher taxes on business will make the price of their products and services LESS EXPENSIVE.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe groups like ACORN who register felons, drug addicts, wino’s, homeless drifters, illegal aliens, dead people, children, fictional Disney characters, etc. makes my vote count more.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe celebrating the winter solstice shows compassion for the small minority of people that do not celebrate Christmas.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe hard core criminal murders and rapists deserve life and that the innocent unborn deserve death. It’s a choice I can live with.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe Bush caused Hurricane Katrina and he blew-up the levies in the ninth ward of New Orleans.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits are wrong. I believe higher taxes on oil companies will produce lower prices at the pump.
I'm voting Democrat because I believe we need to rid ourselves of dependency on foreign oil, BUT I AM AGAINST offshore drilling for oil and natural gas, drilling in Anwar, building nuclear power plants and clean coal technology.

"k", just wondering, what on earth do you think the "demmies" are? People who do not like negative ads? People who want a compassionate government? People who want all children to have the option to learn? People who do not like war for war's (or oil's) sake? People who want a candidate who does more than recite incendiary phrases? People who don't hype themselves as 'fiscally responsible' while running up the largest deficit in history? People who believe that the families with the least income should not have the bigger tax burden? Yeah. Let's show the world that.

Lets talk real ... I really want Palin to be our next president, surely I do!
You know what that will do? Consider this what will happen after Palin as our Commander-in-cheif:
America will engage another war with Iran. We are already in war with Iraq & Afganistan. Iran is a much bigger country than Iraq. Total population of all 3 countries will be more than the population of US. One way or other the whole mid-east will be rattled, oil price will soar, our economy will sink more! We will be in deep recession! There will be lot more homeless folks in your neighborhood! Every morning you will be enjoying shock-n-awe of American air-power and cooky Rumford! Good morning America :)
So, please vote for Palin, you haven't seen anythin' yet!

"Bubby" - dear, that's not what 'redistribution of wealth' means. And it doesn't mean making the rich poor. It means taking the extreme burden of taxation off the poor, and getting the rich to shoulder it more, rather than letting their armies of tax accountants find loopholes for them to shelter their money (which is another way of saying 'hiding' their money). Look, nobody WANTS to pay taxes, but face it, if you're making $300,000 or more a year, you can handle it more (maybe a few less vacations -or vacation homes-, but your lifestyle will still be good, good, good - you're not going to be in the Food Pantry line at church).

Five and a half years ago, liberals wished for Colin Powell's death. The venomous attacks they threw at him were disgusting.
Now, they are at his feet. Giddy with excitement.
Oh they can "claim" it doesn't matter to liberals. Yet here they are, in here on blogs about Powell, drooling over this.
Posted by: Obama = Socialist | Oct 20, 2008 9:08:56 AM
The only people who hated Colin power were the people at the very far left who can't forgive him for his role in the Iraq war and the very far right who can't forgive him for not drinking the neocon Iraq Kool-Aid.
The vast majority of liberals, moderates, and conservatives respect Colin Powell. And his endorsement will do much to win over independents and disaffected Republicans to Obama.
Bur more important than Powell's endorsement of Obama are his statments about Muslims. It's about time someone of Powell's stature said clearly that there's nothing wrong with being Muslim -- that we are all Americans.
I think that anything General Powell did wrong regarding Iraq was redeemed by his humane and eloquent statements about tolerance.
Posted by: Alex | Oct 20, 2008 9:09:17 AM
Is anyone surprised by Powell's endorsement. On Sept. 15, 2008, Powell stated it would be electrifying to elect an African American for president. So no matter who the African American is, they would have his endorsement. No surprise, just disappointed that he wasn't honest for the reason of his endorsement.

Posted by: Jane | Oct 20, 2008 9:12:42 AM
Powell did it for one reason only, and it isn't for the white side of Obama's family tree. Anyone that disagrees with that is lying. My question to all the white people voting for Obama is what is wrong with you? Obama went to a church for 20 years that all but insighted violence against "greedy white Americans" and yet you are so enthralled by his oratory skills that you don't care?! My question to all Black people voting for him is do you really agree that he should get a pass for everyone he has associated with with and whose behavior he has consequently endorsed with his presence? People like William Ayers, Father Pfleger, Jeremiah Wright, Rezko will only fluorish under an Obama presidency and will continue to rot our country from the inside out!! A vote for Obama is a vote for weaker national defense, much much larger goverment, and killing of the self-reliance mentality that has made America the biggest and strongest nation in the world. Obama is telling everyone that he will turn us into France and people faint at his rallies. Some Americans truly are dumb.

Not that it makes any difference (come on, get your comments over with), but I am disappointed in General Powell's decision. Obama has no experience in military matters since he has never served, and by comments he has made and his attitude in certain issues, has sort of evaded military issues, and has not stated much about how he would treat the military. Its very important that we have a strong military force more than ever. We're going to need it. Obama takes an extreme liberal stand and would take this country into deeper trouble. He talks about change, but has never been precise and has never elaborated on what that actually means. He'll bring change, alright, but I believe it won't be the change that our country desperately needs now. We need strength, and Obama hasn't shown much of that. He'll say what we want to hear, but he changes his statements, depending on the situation he's in. Maybe thats the change he's talking about. In the long run, if he gets to be our president, I fear for this country. But then again, maybe we have it coming.

Obama=socialist,
How do you not understand basic economics? Socialism/communism always crops up as a popular alternative whenever we have downturns in our economy. The problem is that anytime the government has tries to give people $ for doing nothing it kills the incentive to get an alarm clock, keep you legs closed before you get married and become a productive member of society. As for America's current state of oppressing the poor, the poor don't even pay taxes! 40% of the 95% of people this Marxist is going to give my $ to don't even pay federal taxes. Here are some real quick facts for anyone who claiming that the rich need to do more. The weatlhies 10% of all income earners pay 70% of the taxload, and the bottom 50% of income earners pay less then 3% of taxes!! If you want my honest opinion, it's time for the poor to start pulling some more weight!! Get rid of the cigarettes, cut out the 3 trips to Wendy's a week and start shopping at the Salvation Army.

Obama=socialist,
How do you not understand basic economics? Socialism/communism always crops up as a popular alternative whenever we have downturns in our economy. The problem is that anytime the government has tried to give people $ for doing nothing it kills the incentive to get an alarm clock, keep you legs closed before you get married and become a productive member of society. Colin Powell loves abortion. It is as simple as that. It was clear that the Palin VP pick is what made him defect. Also, he could not bear to have another conservative Supreme Court justice that would defend the lives of babies in their mother's wombs. He didn't seem to have much of a problem with McCain's 100-year war philosophy so Powell also does not seem to mind killing and taking of life in the battlefield either. It was Powell's gutless role as fall-guy that allowed us to go into Iraq.
As such, I can not support either candidate. Neither respects life. Obama does not respect life of unborn children and neither McCain nor Palin respect life of the many civilians killed as "collateral damage" as we carry on with our folly in Iraq.

Would anybody expect anything different from Colon Blow Powell. Blacks are going to stick together. You really think Obama is going to do anything for White's?

It is amazing to see a distinguished republican and general voice his endorsement and support for Obama. The truth of the matter is that this nation’s reputation around the world has deteriorated and needs to be mended once again, even, with our allies. McCain will only, more, damage our reputation and our perception around the world by using the same old George W. Bush policies that have not worked. McCain supporting George W. Bush 90 percent of the time reflects the same policies he will continue adapt and more severely damage us. It is time that we as American confront the world reputation that has been damage and work to mend it. It is important for us to work in improving our economy, and tackle down the issue of deficit and once again work in balancing the budge as Clinton was able to do. We our leaving a massive debt for our children to pay in the future, that is immoral, irresponsible, ungodly, and ignorant. We need to set up a great reputation again, so that our children will have a better future and tackle these important issues. McCain just offers more of the same, but Obama offers exactly what this generation of American needs, innovation, intelligence, substance, inspiration, and vibrancy.

You can say forget Bill Ayers, but it shows what the Character is of Obama to associate with Him and a bunch of other shady people and I’m sure Obama’s ideology and thinking is very similar to Ayers and some of the other people that have been involved in banking scam that has ripped the taxpayers of Millions. You just can’t accept it or you just want to deny it. They all are trying to push the leftist movement in one way or another. Ayers did it violently and Obama is trying to do it peacefully through the political system. No real difference in there thinking.

I agree with American Mom's reasons to vote Democrat!!!!
Colin Powell? The future will see him as a traitor to this country.

I think that Gen. Powell is expressing what many moderate republicans feel about the McBush/Palin ticket.

When the people can vote themselves in a promised "gift" from the national treasury that they have been bribed with by politicians our government is corrupted and will soon become bankrupt.
I always thought bribery was unethical and even criminal...

Foxnews remains quiet after the announement of Powell's endorsement of Obama. It's the final nail in the coffin for Mcshame. Seriously folks, if a class act like Powell is backing Obama, then the McSame camp should concede promptly. The GOP is crashing down hard in ashes, but this time they will not rise from them, as they so hoped with their candidate from Arizona...

What we heard yesterday from Colin Powell was well thought-out/well articulated stance instead of memorized talking points.
I think most American would agree, "Now there's a republican I could listen to for four years."
Instead of thoughtful reasoning we've been forced to listen to the politics of division from the top GOP ticket to the surrogates.
When the two warriors you send to battle Colin Powell are Rush Limbaugh and Pat Buchanan, there's a problem.

All American MOM for PRESIDENT. GREAT post...so right on target. Any democrats want to say why they are voting for Obama. More MINDLESS "change change change". And those saying Powell brings prestige...a few years ago you hated him. Now because he supports Obama he is smart?? Please! And yes, they hate Palin but allow Pelosi to be TWO heart beats away from the PRESIDENCY. THERE IS NOTHING SCARIER than that!!!

Why should people who don't even pay taxes be awarded a tax credit?
Posted by: Bubby | Oct 20, 2008 9:38:29 AM
I think the foreign countries are going to make a good joke and have a good laugh, same as they did with Clinton on this election. We give the keys to the Whitehouse to a person that has a Muslim background, has no record of getting anything accomplished, nobody has heard of him until a couple of years ago, has associated himself with shady people most of his life and has never run anything that has had a budget to it, but he’s a charismatic speaker with no substance. What a joke! On top of that promises a “pie in the sky for everybody” except that 5% at the top and our budget is so loaded with debt were basically bankrupt. 40% of the low income Americans don’t pay any taxes in and get a “low income tax credit check” of $4,500 a year and Obama is going to give them more yet. That’s a good laugh for anybody. So much for the stupid “Americans”. Are Americans really that stupid? I hear that sucking sound again that Ross Perot was talking about.

I admire General Powell. I would admire him more if he had resigned before carrying W's BS message about Iraq to the UN.

You so-called "Christians" who are endorsing McCain and Palin because they smile pretty for the camera and bump bellies with the Christian leadership, just like GWB did/does, I want you to chew on something. YOU may ignore 600,000 civilian deaths brought on largely by YOUR ENDORSEMENT OF INVASION, but GOD will not... and sooner than you want, you too will face HIM. So... go on and turn the channel and vote as you wish, but in the final judgment of who YOU are, you will have to atone to GOD for this massive scale murder you backed.

OF COURSE HE WILL GO WITH OBAMA. HIS TRULY COLORS CAME OUT. THIS IS A RACIAL
RACE. I HOPE EVERYONES TRUE COLORS COMES OUT. I LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY BLACK PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR MCCAIN. ONLY THE STUPID WHITE PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA

Colin Powell: Country First!

Buddy writes, ""Obamahood" and his band of looneymen want to redistribute the wealth from us (real taxpayers) to government so that they can decide where to apply it via affirmative action type programs..."
=================================
What's funny about the folks who say these things is how utterly uninformed they truly are....Here you are, someone who is about as close to earning $250,000 per year as Earth is to Pluto and you're complaining about Obama eliminating some of the tax cuts for those who do.
Forget about the fact that "you" never had these tax cuts and they did under Bush. I'm sure they appreciate that innate indentured servant mentality embedded in your DNA.
Me? I tend to look at the fact that I earn pretty good living and will benefit under the Obama plan and I earned 5 times what Joe "The Lying" Plumber earned in 2006 according to his divorce records. What did he earn? A whopping $40,000. Yet he's asking Obama about potential taxes on a company he "plans" to purchase. When confronted by the media to detail his "plans" he says, "Well I really don't have one now." Go figure......
This is why Colin endorsed Obama. The days of ignorance actually winning elections are almost over.

Why is this a surprise to anyone? The guy is African American. Of course he is going to endorse Obama!
Whomever thought for a second Powell would back McCain is smokin' rope.
Only one endorsement counts. That's the one on November 4th.

George S. got it exactly right. All of you who are now dissing Powell, have been infatuated with him for years. You even sided with him when he was wrong about the war,. Now when he goes out of his way to explain his decision you decide you hate him. Figures. The repukelican party, the GOP and McLame/Pain are nauseating. Worse than that, they prove on a daily basis why they are nothing more than out-of-touch cretins!
Posted by: durrs | Oct 20, 2008 9:46:39 AM
Dan - You made a good point there. Everybody wants "change" but if it's in the wrong direction what good is it. You might not like change with Obama if he has complete control of our gov. with no checks and balances. He's just telling people what they want to hear.
Posted by: Mp | Oct 20, 2008 9:47:14 AM
Mp--What does it say about McClown's character that he picked a woman for VP who married a card-carrying member of the Alaska separatists? And she addressed that group as well.
BTW: McClown addressed a gathering sponsored by ACORN in 2006 and praised their efforts.
The sound of an imploding GOP!

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll suggests that Powell's views are in line with the American public. Hmmm.
I have been blessed to make a very good salary for the past five years. Does it make me responsible for an old friend who is in jail at this moment for 25 years because he was trafficking drugs? No! So why is Obama responsible for what Bill Ayers has done with his life?
Posted by: jlj | Oct 20, 2008 9:47:59 AM
Simple explanation. A "brother" voting for a "brother". Race is ALWAYS going to come into play where the blacks are concerned.
Posted by: sandalwood | Oct 20, 2008 9:49:32 AM
Dems... Small business is the engine of America's economy. And the last thing we need now is higher taxes.
If you don't work for, or do not own a small business, you can go earn your own money. Keep your hands off mine and let me distribute my 'wealth' the way I see fit.

The government right now, is giving 700 billion worth of tax dollars to private institutions. This government right now is instituting just about the biggest socialist program in recent history. Your worst socialist nightmare has already happened with this administration in charge. whatever socialistic tendencies the democrats might have, pale in comparison.
Posted by: birkenhead | Oct 20, 2008 9:49:37 AM
You race-baiting supporters of John SYDNEY McCain III can still vote for the 50% of Obama that is white.
Posted by: Joe V | Oct 20, 2008 9:50:03 AM
jlj... you are right on. sad thing is, after this election, the divide between blacks and whites is going to deepen, regardless of who gets in.
