Coming Up on 'This Week'

October 31, 2008 7:41 PM

Abc_tw_davisaxelrod_081031_mn_2 It's closing argument time.

The campaigns now just have hours to persuade voters to send their candidate to the White House.

The McCain campaign says they're within striking distance of getting to 270 electoral college votes. The Obama campaign is launching a television ad air assault in traditional red states Georgia, North Dakota and even Arizona -- John McCain's home state.

Join us Sunday on This Week, as we talk last minute campaign strategies and tactics with David Axelrod, senior strategist for the Obama campaign, and Rick Davis, campaign manager for the McCain campaign.

Then, with us to analyze the campaign's final 48 hours are our extended roundtable: Time Magazine's Mark Halperin, and ABC News' Donna Brazile, Matthew Dowd, and George Will.

See you Sunday morning.

Coming up this week, I swoon over my sexy home boy Barack Obama. I love BHO so much, that I have completely thrown away any journalistic integrity that I had left and completely jumped into the tank for my big eared stud!

It looks like Mr. Obama, a serial liar, is going to win.

Listen to someone who makes some sense!

"It looks like Mr. Obama, a serial liar, is going to win."....not if we wake up in time....and there is still time!!

Yeah, neo-cons, only four lying days left, better drag out your heaviest mud, lies and deceit. I'm sure there's at least one or two morals you haven't thrown away.

Posted by: JR | Oct 31, 2008 8:33:13 PM

Maybe tomorrow is the day Palin calls Obama the anti-Christ, then on Monday McCain can claim to be a maverick again or maybe vice verse. Whatever total desperation calls them to do.

Posted by: JR | Oct 31, 2008 8:36:18 PM

If you had half a brain McCain, you would join the other GOP big wigs and endorse Obama. You might save a little of your reputation that way.

"Where's Joe? Where's Joe?" - John McCain

HAS JOE JUMPED SHIP TOO?

Posted by: Ed from MA | Oct 31, 2008 8:59:46 PM

Three thoughts on this last Friday before the election. If Obama is the savior to so many people how come is he having to spend so much money and time this weekend saying he has not finalized the deal. Maybe he has already paid the debt of for the Clinton's and does not have to worry about that now. People who jumped ship should not be returned to Washington and I intend to do my part when I vote.
One more and that is the banks using the bail out money for acquiring other banks and leaving the American people in the whole for not only the loan money but the FDIC is also taking the non performing loans.

Mr. Stephanopoulus,

You'd do a great service if you could ask Mr. Axelrod to explain his, Mr. 0bama's tactic of "Class War", or in Chairman Mao words, Class Struggle, on Americans.

The ideal of sharing wealth, equalizing class divide has been so powerful, sweeping half a Europe and Asia and South America in the first half of the 20th Century.

The ideals of Marxism are not necessarily wrong; in fact, they are extremely appealing, and the history of the 20th century is a proof.

Yet, none of the practitioners have achieved their noble causes, each has left millions dead, in smaller places like Vietnam and Cambodia, and 10s of millions in larger states. The only major survivor of this practice is China, who has adopted Capitalism by all means except some certain rights that we enjoy here as granted - which is a different topic.

Socialism, a precursor of Communism, has never had a chance being practiced in the US. Few really know what socialism is, but what 0bama wants to do IS socialism.

0bama is masterfully adopting the classic class divide of Karl Marx, playing one class - the 95% of the poor - against another class - the rich, the 5% - to achieve his ambition.

It is not progressive taxation that makes 0bama a socialist.

It is the Class Struggle that makes 0bama a Socialist, Stupid!

Why haven't you made more of a deal regaring Governor Palin not releasing her medical records, particularly after she stated that she would? I find this confusing and comfounding! Many in the country want to know. Thanks.

Posted by: Phil Burns | Nov 1, 2008 8:15:03 AM

Phil Burns - why do you care about Palin's medical records? Honestly, what could be in there.

You don't care about any of Obama's connections, or his responsibility for the mortgage crisis.. Yet you're concerned about Sarah Palin's pap smears.

Posted by: Michael | Nov 1, 2008 8:35:53 AM

The Republican party is saying that Obama does not have any experience, really ??
I would like to know what experience McCain has ??. I have not seen any.

Posted by: Val | Nov 1, 2008 10:13:56 AM

You Americans have spent years, $trillions and many lives showing the world that democracy and freedom can work. Then, you have a presidential campaign that gets so ugly that it puts your form of democracy to shame. What message are you trying to send?

Posted by: Allan Eizinas from Canada | Nov 1, 2008 10:48:30 AM

Basically it comes down to Virginia which is leaning strong for Obama. Even if McCain defies all the odds and wins Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, and Missouri he will STILL fall 2 electoral votes short assuming Obama keeps his leads in Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico (pretty safe bet since the Republicans basically stopped spending money there). The press is fixated on the polls getting tighter (barely) but the reality is things don't look good for McCain.

Posted by: john | Nov 1, 2008 11:20:57 AM

Why don't you do us all a favor Stephanopoulos and ask David Axelrod to release Obama's birth certificate and college records.

Posted by: nationalobserver | Nov 1, 2008 11:32:50 AM

You know how both campaigns worry about how the "old white women" are going to vote? Well, I decided today to vote for McCain today after the news story broke about Obama's Aunt living illegally off of our tax money in public housing in Boston that should have some low-income American Citizen living in it instead. How can she qualify year after year for public housing???? I have to imagine our tax money is Obama's Aunts income also, so let's start respecting our laws and get busy sending "Auntie Zeituni" and the other 10 million plus illegal aliens back to their original homelands. Shame on the Obama Campaign staff for not spending some of that money they beg for every day in emails on thoroughly investigating any and all of Obama's family members instead of buying network airtime for the "Infomercial". BTW; it's reported that "Auntie Zeituni" attended Obama's swearing-in to the U.S. Senate in 2004 when she was already living in Boston's Public Housing and being ordered to go home by a Federal Judge! Amazing huh! Obama playing dumb to this issue will be insulting, so let's see how long it takes for "Auntie Zeituni" to get escorted to the Boston airport with a one-way ticket back to Kenya!

This morning I saw McCain on TV giving a speech. What a f%ck!ng idiot. If you care the least little bit about science, medicine, education or the environment, don't vote for this b@st@rd.
He brought up his line again about a "3 million dollar 'overhead' projector for a planetarium in Chicago". He is talking about the Adler. McNugget probably has never been to a planetarium despite the fact that he is from AZ, one of the major centers of astronomical research. He obviously doesn’t have the slightest idea of what a planetarium projector is or what it does. The Adler is a top notch scientific and educational institution that gets hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. 3 million dollars for a planetarium projector is nowhere near out of line. The new Hayden in NY spent more than that back in 1999 for their new Zeiss Mark IX.
He claims to be pro environment and claims to want to work to fight global warming, but his policies do just the opposite. “Drill Baby Drill” will do nothing to solve our long term energy issues. If you think it will help with prices, OPEC will just cut production to drive up global prices, just like they have started to do right now. If you are getting low on gas, fill it up by Tuesday, because you know that prices are going to start going back up come Wednesday regardless of who gets elected.
On top of this, he picked that Pentecostal devil worshiper for his running mate. She has one of the worst environmental records of any politician in the US. She is opposed to stem cell research and she wants to destroy what little is left of science education in this country. Pain and McSenile will do everything they can to make our country into a third world banana republic.

This Obama and his Aunt thing has me baffled... why should anyone care? I have tons of relatives that I see yearly, but I'm in no way responsible for their living arrangements - and why would I be?

This information regarding her immigration status was illegally obtained and leaked... that concerns me much, much more than where she is living, or how she got there.

Posted by: Kbk | Nov 2, 2008 1:36:09 AM

kbk

regardless of whether it was illegally pbtained and leaked if Obam awas paying the bills for a relative illegally in the US for several years now and it is not brought to light thats a crime! also beign short with the press on Halloween taking the daughter trick or treating the arrogance of it all and Ayers and wright being kept silen t till after the election you know if something comes out about them still even after the election is certified it can still be rendered null and void you obamabots havent thought through it

Posted by: stanman | Nov 2, 2008 1:39:40 AM

I'm sorry, stanman - I honestly can not understand anything you are writing... can you use punctuation and real sentence structure, please?

Posted by: Kbk | Nov 2, 2008 1:32:12 AM

What Sen Obama's absent biological father's half sister is doing has nothing what so ever to do with his ability to lead this country. Sen McCain could not even manage a cohesive campaign without problems, shake ups, changing direction and mud slinging. Who can lead a country better in these troubled times? It seems obvious to me, which is why I have already cast my vote for Senator Obama.
