Coming Up on 'This Week': Sen. John McCain

December 12, 2008 2:36 PM

Tw_mccain2_081211_mn Coming up this Sunday . . . I sit down for a one-on-one with Sen. John McCain in his first Sunday morning interview since the election.

We'll find out how he plans to work in the Senate with his former rival, President-Elect Barack Obama.

Plus, his take on the automakers' bailout, a second economic stimulus package, and the future of the Republican Party.

Joining me on our Roundtable this week: PBS' Gwen Ifill, the New York Times' Paul Krugman, The Wall Street Journal's Gerald Seib, and ABC News' George Will.

Have a question for Sen. McCain or one of our guests? Join the debate and submit your questions.

Wonder how McCain fits into Obama's grand bipartisan plan for Washington...

Well George it will be the first time in several Sundays I will not be watching your show on Sunday. I have lost faith in Washington and wall street and you are bringing a 30/40 year veteran of Washington. McCain is more suited for late night comedy than what used to be a serious show.

He will probably lament the fact that he argued against reason (Ron Paul), and the fact that he will not get the opportunity to bomb Persians.

Please have him give remarks on how the Grand Old Potty is throwing him under the bus.

Oh yes and please comment on how on the assertion of the Plummer on how McCain made him feel dirty.

I think his biggest mistake was his statements about continuing Bush's policies. I know that did it for me.

I understand that he apparently felt that he had to be in line with the official republican party/Bush stance on issues, but it sort of negated his history as a maverick.

"Change" was probably the thing that Obama did that was biggest contributing factor to his victory in the election.

Since he said during the course of the campaign over and over again that he had the "know-how" and the "willingness" to get the country out of downward spiral we're in...I'd like to hear in no uncertain terms how he plans to help the pres-elect do just that! He said he reached aross the isle numerous times...crossed party lines...well..c'mon big boy...let us in on all that know-how you preached about so long and hard before the election.

As much as I respect Senator McCain for serving his country, I was disgusted with his political views, his shoddy, negative campaign run against Obama, and what he did to his first wife. I cannot think of a single question I would ask him that he might answer. Nevertheless, I will tune in to see what you come up with for questions. I just hope he does not “bleep” you as he “bleeped” Letterman.

Wow! I sure agree with liberaldem. For McCain claiming the “know-how” and the “willingness,” do share it with us Senator McCain. Even 'the One' some claimed to be the messiah, did not state that. Ironic I think.
