Obamas to Search for D.C. Church
January 11, 2009 9:23 AM
It's been almost a year since Barack Obama delivered his stirring speech on race in Philadelphia following the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy.
In part because of the demands of the presidential campaign and the furor surrounding some of Wright's sermons, Obama and his family stopped worshipping at Chicago's Holy Trinity Church.
So I asked Obama during our interview, does he miss having a worship community?
"I do and it’s been a difficult time," Obama told me. "Now, I’ve got a wonderful community of people who are praying for me every day, and they call me up and -- you know, but it’s not the same as going to church and the choir’s going and you get this feeling."
Obama said he and Michelle will be visiting churches in Washington, D.C.
"One of the things that Michelle and I will be doing is probably visiting some churches and seeing what’s comfortable. It is tougher as president. You know, this is not just an issue of going to church, it’s an issue of going anywhere. You don’t want to subject your fellow church members, the rest of the congregation, to being magged every time you go to church. And so, we’re going to try to be balancing, not being disruptive to the city, but also saying we want to be part of Washington D.C.," he said.
"But one of the things that I don’t like historically about Washington is the way that you’ve got one part of Washington, which is a company town, all about government, and is generally pretty prosperous. And then, you’ve got another half of D.C. that is going through enormous challenges. I want to see if we can bring those two Washington D.C.'s together."

That's simple, look for the church with the most racist pastor and sign up. It worked for you for over 20 years in Chicago, didn't it Barack?

This question is not specifically related to this topic but somewhat related. I am interested in determining who is paying for Mr. Obama's hotel stay upon his early arrival to Washington, DC? Is it the tax payer paying for Mr. Obama's convience, is Mr. Obama's paying for his personal lodgeing, or is the hotel donating the accommadations?
Thanks in advance for your response.

Paul,
Well, his minions say he is, and, like everything else about him, one will never know the truth. If indeed he is, no doubt it's coming out of the millions donated...
As far as the church goes, I'm sure that Wright will be happy to come deliver services in the WH chapel. Kennedy had all those secret entrances into the WH, those can be used to sneak the preacher in. After all, 20+ years is a loooong time, he can't have broken the relationship that completely.

Excuse me Doug, racists and racism are what Rev. Wright was railing AGAINST. He spoke the truth.

Who's Obama kidding will it be a christian, universal, or mosque? What security will church goers have to go through? If I were church patron, I'd be weary. Hey George please ask the president elect will he ban the fireworks at swearing in like he did acceptance, hed better not discourage the ordinary people this time!

Well...we know Obama is cool with a pastor who uses God's name in vain, who GD's the USA, who tries to hurt and anger black folks with tall tales about America infecting them with AIDS, and he's cool with the Rev. blaming the USA for 9/11. He just needs to find a church that won't criticize HIM.

I cannot explain the jubilence and excitement that floods my soul each time I hear devise, evil and racist comments from the Obama haters. It makes me REJOICE and dance because GOD was able to defeat satan and all of his cohorts that tried to stop God's plan for America. Keep the hate coming so that I can keep doing my hallelujah dance that the devil is defeated and JESUS CHRIST is king.

Lila and Doug: You haters apparently have short memories. Obama condemned those remarks by Wright months and months ago, and left that church. Remember? Oh, that's right--you just prefer to be Obama haters.

Is Hussein trying to fool the American public one more time? He was born a Muslim, practised Islam in Indonesia during all of his formative years living in that country, came to the US and NEVER attended any church. Moving to Chicago he joined Rev Wright's hateful church ONLY because there were 1000s of black people in the congregation that he instantly had ACORN register to vote for his election to the senate. I bet you he cannot recite a single passage from the bible. However, he was able to rattle off the Muslim prayer to the Times interviewer in flawless Arabic. He did not vote for the war BECAUSE the Koran clearly states that as a Muslim you "cannot fight against your brother but instead will have to defeat the infidels" even if it means killing your own brother! The first item on his agenda once he takes office is not the economy but it is to free his Muslim terrorists brothers from Gitmo. Wake up people! This traitor is NO Christian. He does not even know when life begins! My fellow Americans, Hussein is the biggest con man this nation has ever put into office and we will all be paying dearly in the near future. Impeachment is our only salvo.

william j thinks the big B.O condemned Wright's statements....yeah sure.
Somebody, quick, try to sell william j. some swampland in Florida. He's the sucker that was born that particular moment and will buy anything as long as you tell him B. O. supports it (P.s.: so will Ann and Joel)

Ann---thanks for your beautiful words and encouraging us to look in our souls and rejoice.

annon---"hed better not discourage the ordinary people this time!" Obama has never discouraged ordinary people, that is why he won this election.

Dear Ann,
While you PTL for BO haters say a prayer for the full term babies that will be slaughtered because of BO's stance on killing them. Oh and while you are at it you can PTL for the extra taxes you will be paying to continue the slippery slope down the path to a socialistic existence. But then you are used to having your hand out for the government to pay your way aren't you?

BTW--You BO lemmings will see.

BHO litmus test for supreme court justice. this question would be asked to the potential justice.
Question: How many abortions per year are acceptable to you?
1. 500,000- 1,000,000
2. 1,000,001- 1,500,000
3. 1,500,001- 2,000,000
If he/she/it answered #1, not qualified. anti woman.
If he/she/it answered#2, somewhat qualified but deep reservations about their social justice.
If he/she/it answered#3, the highly qualified, compassionat, smart, intelligent, etc.

Instead of Pres. Obama choosing a specific Church to attend, he should each week invite 25-50 representitives, from a different denomination, to present a Service that refelcts their denomination's perspective, at either the White House or Blair House. This plan would give deferance to the diverse beliefs of all the citizen's of this country as well as enlightening the President himself. Such a plan would not defy the Constitution's First Amendment and would save enormous amounts of money spent on security whenever the President attends a church.
