Obama2_090107_mn Join me this Sunday morning for our exclusive interview with President-elect Barack Obama -- his first Sunday morning interview since coming back to Washington, D.C. as the future Commander-in-Chief.

Our exclusive one-on-one with the president-elect kicks off ABC News’ week-long series on the economy, “America’s Economy: What’s the Fix?”

I sit down with Obama just as Congress is on the verge of introducing the economic stimulus package.

We'll cover all the big issues facing Obama in his first hundred days.

We'll also find out how his family is settling into life in Washington.

Don't miss it.

If you have a question for the president-elect, email me HERE.

On our roundtable: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, The New York Times' Thomas Friedman, The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan, and ABC News’ George Will join me to debate the week’s politics.

I am a 73 year old citizen. A teacher with a small pension. I managed to save $31,000 while working but it is melting away. I Am having to use it to save my home, and IRS is penalizing me for withdrawing from the savings. My question to Presiednt Elect Obama is: Are you still planning to exempt taxes for seniors earning less than $50,000 a year?

Thank you for listening.

President ecect Obama
As a senator of this country for the last 4 years how did you allow this economic crisis to happen?

Posted by: Peter Parrillo Jr | Jan 9, 2009 6:44:34 PM

What is a 'typical white person?'

Posted by: Harold | Jan 9, 2009 6:52:06 PM

To All Americans
I sent this email to all are U.S. senators and other elected officials.

Dear Senator

Hi, Let me make this quick and simple.
Nothing has been done to help the working people in this country.
The credit card act, or law, that was passed, does not help people
in debt for 1.5 years. It will be too little, to late.

I have had this thought for awhile now.

Why not give each American working tax payer between the ages of 18 to 62.
A interest free 30 yr loan for $100,000.00!!! Or what the heck, in this economy every American. Make it so they can not file bankruptcy on it! If not paid! It will come out of there estate, or taxes, and if they retire, it will come out of there 401-k! Meaning safeguards can be put in place to protect the govt, and we will do this for the next 15 years for those who turn 18 or something like that, or we can just do it now as a one time deal. Well all the details could be worked out in a bill, at a later date. We just need to do it fast, and now for the working and poor of this country....

Just a thought, I think it will work, better than anything we have done so far..
Well anyways if not then, oh well I tried, and good luck coming up with
better solutions for the people of this country.....
Everyone I talk to always says "ONLY IF IA HAD $100,000.00 THAT WOULD STRAITEN UP EVERYTHING IN MY WORLD FOR ME, AND MY FAMILY".... Well I hear that a lot. But your the one with the
power, I just hope you use it for the people......
Thanks again for your time and listening
THANK YOU.........

We have an opportunity like no other to improve our economy and to make our nation a world leader in green investment and technology. President-elect Obama presented a plan that advances clean energy technologies and investment in green jobs as a key driver for economic recovery. His plan makes an important down payment on solutions that will transform America's economy and lead to a clean energy future that will benefit generations to come.

It is vitally important that the government focuses on investing in newer, cleaner, more efficient technology and not wasting money on costly, business-as-usual approaches like new coal plants, dams, or "highways to nowhere."

Please keep this plan focused on the priorities that will provide short-term economic recovery and long term economic stability and a cleaner, safer world.

* Invest in the most efficient green solutions.
* Boldly stimulate green industries.
* Fix existing needs first.
* Invest in environmental restoration and green infrastructure.
* Reject economic proposals which would increase global warming pollution, destroy important natural areas, or increase our reliance on wasteful water use.

Keep economic recovery focused on clean energy! Dr. Larry Bates would do good to serve as an economist at the helm of sighting cause an effect in terms of a real rational look at economy in harmony with ecology based jobs.
President-Elect Barack Obama is digesting critical thought for solutions in every matter or event concerning; vision, knowledge, implementation, experiences and wisdom; thus raising mankind from barbaric to bicameral behavior resulting in a collective conscience working Americans together. http://www.sidroth.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=7693&news_iv_ctrl=0&abbr=tv_

Upon reading the makeup of this week's roundtable, I decided that someone saw the need to media-balance Obama with three conservatives and a liberal hawk.

Fortunately, given his skills, the balance is likely to favor Obama.

(Please let this kind of roundtable be the exception!)

Thanks.

I really want to know what Obama is going to do about American companies that are sending jobs to India, Mexico, Russia, and other third world countries. I think they should have to pay huge fines to a fund to pay unemployment funds to support Americans that are out of work.
I know of one company that shows their red white and blue all over their web site while sending jobs to India, Mexico and Russia.
That is just not right!
When I say fines I mean in the million dollar range. Something big enough that it would not be worth sending those jobs off shore.

As to why Obama didn't get anything done to help the economy while he was in the Senate is because he WASN"T in the Senate, he was out campaigning to become president. He only got himself elected Senator as a stepping stone into the White House. WHY can;t anyone see how oppotunistic all his actions have been. It has all been a devious plan to get Obama to where he felt he deserved to be, just as Burris feels he deserves to be Senator. There is an arrogance in all this that doesn't seem to bode well for the people, just Obama and Burris, if you get my drift.

Mr. Obama on January 9, asked for Americans to come forward with new ideas on how to help the economy. If He is really looking for help, please take a look at what I have worked on for the past two years. Lets talk about this package I created and bring it to His attention. I think that if we all come together (Americans) we can built a better Country.

Jobswap Inc.
P.O. Box 884
Bronx, New York 10465

January 2009

Jobswap is a company dedicated to strengthening the backbone of America and the working people. By slowly decreasing the amount of employees being laid off and being fired, Jobswap can help to create a better economy for the future.

As C.E.O. and President of Jobswap, I am asking Congress to implement a tax incentive to employees and employers whom submit, a W-4 Jobswap form to the IRS and the completion of one hundred forty calendar-worked days in the Jobswap program.

By rewarding employees and employers with this taxpayer incentive:

1. Companies would find it more beneficial to merge with each other. This will allow employees to Jobswap their positions, wages, and/or trade within the merge of two or more companies.

2. Jobswap creates extra options to companies having financial difficulties. Jobswap will encourage companies not to close doors, but to open them despite a bad economy or other reasons.

3. With each Jobswap employee tax incentive, companies will be able to apply this allowance to the Job swapper's individual salary.

4. A tax incentive can assist businesses in payroll of employee's salaries. This will allow for wholesale pricing to drop in companies merchandise. This ripple effect will then make it affordable for retailers and economical for the consumer.

5. Jobswap offers companies the opportunities to make them realize that the pay rate for a Jobswap employee becomes more affordable. This gives American companies greater opportunities to stop out-sourcing in order for lower pay rates.

6. With a tax allowance, companies would be able to offer employment to Jobswap employees, therefore decreasing unemployment.

7. Jobswap will immediately decrease unemployment payouts.

8. Jobswap encourages individual job swapping in place of the traditional firings from employment due to lack of employee performance.

9. A Jobswap incentive will bring changes in family relationships and personal health.

10. Jobswap will impact employees and employers. They will see how having the right job atmosphere can improve their attitude, work efforts, and overall performance.

11. Jobswap will improve employee and employer matching.

12. Jobswap will encourage employment in urban communities that lack in job skills.

13. Eventually, a Jobswap tax allowance will bring a sense of value and pride back to the U.S. Dollar, working Americans and American companies. Seen by the entire world as a country with pride in low unemployment rates.

14. Jobswap is a powerful stimulus economic recovery package that will create jobs immediately and for the rest of this country’s future.

15. Last but not least, there will always be companies that would rather remain basic taxpayers without the benefits of these tax incentives. Nevertheless, one guaranteed fact is that in every company, Business, Big or small, employees are always looking forward to living a better life.

With the help of this tax incentive, Jobswap can make a major impact in our American economy.

illegal aliens have over a million jobs that we american citezens want. it seems no politiciann wants to address this.I have been personally been affected by this. as I became the 1% american citizen on any job site I went to.I no longer can get a job with the horse racing industry. The bosses are hispanic, they have taken womans lib back 30 years. On my job sites I was paid less then any of the hispanic men, and now there are no jobs for me for over a year. this is a career I chose and done well for twenty five years. Now I can not get a job mucking stalls. I seeillegals doing county jobs, construction, state workers and I feel a million jobs can be recovered by sending illegals back to there country. In marion county florida there are no jobs for american citizens in the horse industry.equine staffers no longer exist and there has been not one job in the classifieds. the govment does not even go after employers of these people. what are you going to do about illegal aliens?

REPAIRING FOREIGN RELATIONS WITH THE EU:
Mr.Obama, I'm curious to know if you plan anytime soon to begin repairing foreign relations with our ally countries, mainly the European Union who have stood behind us in Iraq and Afghan. Our country called on the EU to go to war with us and then we turned our backs on them playing the political games. Philanthropic foundations in Europe have repeatedly asked for the past 5 years now to have foreign currency converted to US dollars and transferred to support the alleviation of poverty, hunger and illness in Africa, but to no avail. What will you do to ensure this deliberate action of non-cooperation by the Treasury Department and other Agencies in Washington in working with our foreign allies is stopped.

Mr. Obama:
Specifically, what steps are you taking to allow immigrants to become legal working citizens of America? (1) Many children came to this country illegally through no fault of their own. America is the only country they know. For all practical intents and purposes - they are Americans. Many of these children are now adults and have children born in America. (2) Many illegal immigrants have lived in America for one or more decades. They have worked and paid taxes. These individuals will never be able to collect from the social security system they have willing paid into because of their status. (3) Not all illegal immigrants are part of the criminal community. (4) Americans can only blame our system for the lax attitude and approach we had toward illegal immigration for so many decades. (5) I can say factually you secured a lot of Latino votes in the hope that you would make life better for "los gentes." Are you?

Mr. Obama will be a great President. He will fight for all the people of USA. Unfortunately, Mr. George W. Bush was there for the rich, favored laws and persons who does not care about thee common man or woman. I can tell you how the Obama administration will be different than the Bush administration:
a. economy will have more participants as opposed to a selected few (i.e. Federal Reserve Board, Treasury Dept.)
b. tax cuts for the middle & low income class of taxpayers
c. no more mega rich people getting away with not paying their fair share when it comes to taxes
d. no one should be denied health coverage
e. during Obama's term, a conservative Supreme Court justice will retire and a new Supreme Court justice will serve by doing what is right for America, not by political motivations

When the Obama administration takes office on 1.20.2009-tuesday/the day after America observes the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we must all bow down on our knees and pray that he is successful in his initiatives and that his sworn enemies ( whomever they are ) shall not prevail. We are 1 nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and JUSTICE FOR ALL!

if Obama says that we all need to give to help economy, how about he starts us off by donating all the money he raised for his innauguration spectacle? OH wait..he means the rest of us, the little people need to give, not the dictators in government.

Posted by: Mom | Jan 10, 2009 11:06:18 PM

So, Mr. President-elect, we know that most Americans want enforcement of immigration laws, a secure border, and they vehemently oppose amnesty. How are you going to satisfy a narrow group of Democrats (such as myself) and special interest groups by passing an amnesty bill without jeopardizing the thing all first-term Presidents want...a second term?

The comments here only reflect the views of people who would critisize Obama even for washing his teeth in the morning.

Negative people are like magnet: they always end-up stuck together.

Sensible people will not be expressing premature conclusions even before his official Inauguration.

Which, by the way, is actually the 'People Inaguration' to mark such an historic American achievement, infact is being paied by people who have donated millions for the occasion, i.e. no tax-payers money is being touched for it.

Now, cynics sit back and enjoy...other people's joy!

Obama (Mr Transparency)is unwilling to provide proof of his natural born citizenship, refuses to disclose his college admissions records, and Pakistani passport that allowed him to visit Pakistan at a time when Americans were denied acccess, YET ABC IS UNWILLING TO INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER, OR EVEN DISCUSS THE MANY COURT CASES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY CHALLENGING OBAMA/SOETOROS ELIGIBILITY TO BE PREZ.

George is nothing more than a bought and paid for spreader of pro-obama propaganda.

The interview was largely non-committal. I was pretty disappointed. One thing is for certain, we move from Iraq to Iran.
