Top Three Questions on Stimulus Package
January 08, 2009 6:51 PM
While President-elect Barack Obama has the votes now he needs to pass his economic stimulus plan -- or some version of it, there is some grumbling.
We saw leading Senate Democrats complain about the tax cuts in the package today. They wondered if they're really going to work.
But I would group the concerns into three main questions some leading lawmakers have:
1) Can the money get out very, very quickly?
2) Will the spending programs really be temporary?
3) Can this package be targeted to create the most jobs per dollar to get the most bang for the buck?
That's what the debate is over right now on Capitol Hill.

Why do you think Americans will buy Obama's load of socialist filth?

Are everybody going to to get the stimulus package even if they owe money such as taxes, child support, and student loans?

instead of giving corporate america a blank check, give every tax payer a $50,000 check to pay off there debt and/or to use to puchase a vehicle or down payment on a house. this will help restart our country. this will also be cheaper since goverment oversight is incapable of managing any of our tax payer dollars.

Give the majority of the taxpayer money to taxpayer then we can pay off our debt, afford to pay our taxes and this will stimulate economy. I do believe that some has to be spent to create jobs but I believe that Grants and Loans will cover a lot of that also. Our Government made us a loan nation!! We do not want to be in debt and it feels like we're being kept there.

what about people that haven't been able to find a job since 2006 and get no money??

If the government spent more time worried about the everyday american that struggles to pay their bills due to unfair credit companies and high day care cost and not the billion dollars businesses, then maybe us the american people can get our selves out of this situation the billion dollar companies put us in.

I, an American citizen, am painfully stressed:
Tomorrow morning I have to wake up to the task of paying bills…
I will make decisions based on what I can pay today, what will impact the decisions for my children tomorrow.
Because of the economy, we have no money left to send our children to college and so on a janitorial salary, they will be left to deal with the debt that our republican government has left them (without a college education, because the parents have had to forfeit that luxury to live in their home and still be able to eat food.)
If we could distribute $100,000,000 to each American, yes it could create challenges, but the benefits would far outweigh the negatives:
1. Inflation
a. How is that even an argument when, we ALL can recognize that inflation is the sign of a good economy? (Deflation, the sign of absolute catastrophe.)
2. Druggies would spend it all on drugs
a. So what!?? That is the same way that they are spending their money now with taxpayer money poised to pull them out of rehab.
b. If they overdosed, it would take them off the streets, allowing the money for their healthcare to be redirected to others who really need it.
c. If they are on drugs, because the fiscal reality of life is driving them to it, they could be redirected to productive measures to better their lives and our fiscal arrangement, including paying taxes.
d. The reformed druggies would become tax paying members looking for better solutions and encouraging others.
e. Crime would be reduced; druggies wouldn’t need to be knocking over service stations, purse stealing or car-jacking in an effort to gain funds for drug purchases.
f. Police could act efficiently with the reduced manpower due to reduced crime levels.
3. Mortgage foreclosures would drop.
a. People could pay off their mortgages
b. People would buy up floundering properties
i. Creating new wealth and businesses for the future
c. Without mortgage foreclosure sales, home prices would increase.
i. People unable to refinance due to the fact that they are “upside-down” would be able find some flexibility to provide relief.
d. Consumer demand for homes would increase jobs in the construction market.
LET’S BE HONEST, THE TRUTH IS…
People on welfare would have too much money…
I’m afraid, if they had my opportunities in life: They would take my job!
They don’t know how to spend it correctly (or the way that I would spend it.).
Fair enough…give them the money and show them how to spend it, it still will be a helluva lot cheaper than giving it at the end of the food chain.
We have to learn, as a people to feed the people that are hungry.

Why is it that people receiving Social Security and I am talking those receiving benefits that we worked for are considered moochers. We are not receiving handouts from the government. We worked for years to obtain these benefits but we will not be included in the stimulus package. We are taxpayer, but our incomes are so low, espeically for our years of work that we do not have to file taxes, so of course, we get excluded from benefits again. It is sad because we are not eligible for any kind of aid so we are in the same boat as those who are the "working poor". Since we have to pay taxes on everything, why shouldn't we receive some relief, too.

My favorite show has always been "This Week". Unfortunately after the last several episodes I will not be watching it any longer. First...I disagree that any Bush officials should be prosecuted for anything. They may have made mistakes but many others have done much more harm to the American people. How about prosecuting Stock Brokers...Brokerage firms....and most certainly...banking executives. These "professionals" have pillaged and destroyed our country. Second...I have never heard a worse racial statement than what Donna Brazile said this morning, January 18th. She said that the only thing she cared about was that Barack Obama was African and now running the largest democracy in the world. Her comments on Katrina were also wrong. Bush should have called in the military....but mostly because rescuers were being shot at from the rooftops. Personally....I would have let those who were violent just drown. There are alot of good, decent, people in New Orleans so don't get me wrong. I am hoping and praying that Obama does a great job in leading this country back to prosperity and harmony. But please....if and when he succeeds...don't tell me it's because he's African. I would much rather hear it's because he's an American who loves his country...
