George Will and Paul Krugman Agree
It's rare when ABC News contributors George Will and Paul Krugman agree on our "This Week" Roundtable.
But Will and Krugman found common ground this morning on the issue of California's Supreme Court decision upholding Proposition 8's same-sex marriage ban.

GOP Filibuster over Sotomayor? Cornyn Won't Rule It Out
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Tex., of the Senate Judiciary Committee isn't ruling out a Republican filibuster on Capitol Hill over Judge Sonia Sotomayor.
"Is filibuster on the table today?" I asked Cornyn during an exclusive interview with him and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on "This Week" Sunday.
"I think it's really premature to say that or to speculate," Cornyn said.
"I'm not willing to judge one way or the other, George, because frankly we need to not pre-confirm, and to give Judge Sotomayor the fair hearing that Miguel Estrada and indeed Clarence Thomas were denied by our friends on the other side of the aisle," Cornyn said.

The Nomination Battle Continues
Watch my report on where things stand with Sotomayor’s nomination process. Some of her critics have accused her of racism, but others, including some Republicans, say that goes too far. The votes seem to be adding up in the Senate...

Sotomayor In: You Heard it Here First
You heard it here first.
It's nice to nail one. Back in March, I said that it would be Sotomayor. 1-10 odds.
Today we learn that indeed, Sotomayor is it.
Sotomayor would be the first Hispanic Justice on the Supreme Court bench.
She was appointed to the federal bench by George H.W. Bush. Elevated to the Appeals Court by Bill Clinton. She's a protégé of Daniel Patrick Moynihan and a prosecutor with Robert Morgenthau and a graduate of Princeton and Yale after growing up in the South Bronx.

Supreme Court Pick: Stay on Your Toes
Today could be the day. Both President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are in town this morning. Both head out to the West Coast this afternoon (on separate trips).
So there's a window of opportunity.
As of late last night the president had not made a final decision.
Top Senate leaders had not been given a headsup. But the rollout out team is ready to go when Obama pulls the trigger, and administration official tells me "stay on your toes."

President Barack Obama's top military adviser said the Pentagon is working on meeting the president's deadline of closing Guantanamo Bay by January 2010. But first, Mullen said they are working out a plan on how to handle some 240 detainees held at the military detention facility.
