Jackie Clegg Dodd, wife of Sen. Chris Dodd, serves on the boards of Javelin Pharmaceuticals Inc., Cardiome Pharma Corp., Brookdale Senior Living, and Pear Tree Pharmaceuticals, a financial disclosure report the senator released Friday shows."

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, tell us what your doing to help the American's in your state? Maybe opening up new shelters!

and what role was that Ron? They lied about the state Freddie was in? Perhaps they really believed it, like McCain saying the economy was strong. Maybe they did lie, but it will be hard to prove that, wouldn't it.

In the mean time, the actually people doing the bad things in Freddie / Fannie get a free pass from the right. Why is that? Look up James B. Lockhart, see how much he had to do with our mortgage problems. Why isn't he investigated.

What about Phil Gramm and his repeal of Glass-Steagall that allowed investment bank to merge with other kinds of business? What about Gramm getting a bill put through to keep derivatives from being regulated? Look that up to. Educate YOURSELF. Don't relay on the likes of Fox News or Limbaugh. The truth is out there and the truth is Dodd and Frank were NOT that big of villain in this mess.

The Iranian situation now is a mirror image of our 2008 Presidential elections.They have had their version of Bush/Cheney which is Khamenei/Ahmadinejad.Think about it.They have had years of their Conservative rollacoaster ride and enough is enough!!They voted, and the results have been Cheneyed, they complain and they are labeled bad Iranians by the Iranian president.
Definition:Cheneyed-- To manipulate facts and statistics to supplement a particular point of view.
Iranians voted get rid of the status quo and the Conservatives sent out thugs to beat them with clubs. The Americans voted to do the same and Conservatives are still sending out thugs,( Political Hacks )to verbally beat the public and who they voted for.

Sitting here listening to Dodd and Graham hitting all their carefully memorized talking points about Iran and losing interest fast. Then we moved on to insurance. Obama's plan is an inadequate failure before it even starts. The republicans have no plan other than "find a way to pay or die" and screams of "socialism" which has started to look pretty good to me after 8 years of neo-con policies. No one is talking about getting out of the mideast; something which would free up a lot of money to help pay for single payer.

I need a third party. No one that I see in D.C. gives a flying flip about us. They all appear to be totally absorbed in their little power games. I'm sick and tired of them all.

When will someone start talking about the role of the individual in health care? Large people are a large part of the problem i.e. obesity and related conditions. There is NOTHING that the government can do if a person eats too much and doesn't exercise.

A model based on automobile insurance, where an owner maintains the car and is only invoked in unusual events, is the right path.

There was a clear cause and effect to be seen when mandatory auto insurance was passed and auto insurance rates soared to the outer atmosphere and beyond. It was an early indicator of the failure of the free market when the "free market" is catered to by the politicians and it is a clear and obvious reason why health insurance companies should be shut completely out and single payer should be implemented.

The issue is NOT just government vs. private sector. Where is the role for individual responsibility ?

Neither the government nor a corporation can save an individual who, through their lifestyle choices, will not save themselves.

On your issue of a third party, may I suggest support for the Fair Tax.

I like it because our current system taxes achievement. In every other case we acknowledge that taxing something is a way to discourage it. Why would we want discourage achievement.

The Fair Tax would also eliminate annual tax returns - returning privacy to citizens.

Finally, it takes the power to influence individual out of Washington. A good first step to moving influence not necessarily to a third party but to the people.

Diane. Fair tax is a stupid notion that is designed to hit the middle class even harder than it hits now.

Lifestyle choices are dictated, in part, by income. This is a well researched and well known fact. Poor people tend to be heavier because they can't afford healthy food so they buy whatever it takes to fill their stomach so that they aren't hungry.

In addition, people tend to put on weight as they age; a fact that you may find out eventually for yourself.

I might add that the republicans appear to be the party of the insane and the democrats appear to be the party of the oblivious. Both of them have failed. I need a third party to vote for.

George Will is out of touch with America. When is the last time he got out of the Loop of DC and spent time in and with average Americans?

Mr Will, the health care system does not work well. If you did spend time with real, down to earth people you would know this. I don't know what the answer is, however don't just throw numbers out that the system is working. Even one person with the ability to have coverage in America is not acceptable. If you don't believe this, then I challenge you to drop your own heath care for a long period of time and then go to get services.

I have always been a fan of yours and do respect your opinions. However, I do not believe you are in touch with the reality out in our wonderful country.

roundtable that "No one agrees with Obama on auto bailout"! She hasn't been to Michigan, I guess, in a long time. She ought to come and visit Detroit, Grand Rapids, the UP. Highest unemployment in the US; families truly struggling. Maybe you "guys' need to get out of Washington and see what is really going on in this country!

July 1st, although I still have BCBS through work, I'll be paying three times more from each check and not making any more money and yet I still have a large deductible and still can't afford anything but a GP copay. We need a public single-payer option and we need it now!!

While Cokie is in Michigan, I invite you to come to the south where the US has an automotive industry that works, pays taxes and supports communities.

It is stunning what happens when companies serve the market instead of the unions.

Can we please ban George Will, Cokie Roberts, and Sam Donaldson banned from the Roundtable? They already have what they're going to say planned out ten years in advance. They are empty people who have shown complete and utter laziness when it comes to weighing the effects of policy on the American people.

Get out of BCBS ! When you are in a group plan, you are subsidizing many services that you don't need. You can get individual plans that offer catastrophic coverage and what you save in premiums will more than cover any out-of-pocket maintenance costs that you pick up. I found I could pay for all regular, preventive care cost less than 2 months premiums and I still have great coverage for things like hospitalization, cancer care, etc.

(sigh) I'm in a non-BCBS plan. You still have to come up with the co-pay which can be difficult when people are struggling to keep a roof over their head and food in their stomach. Feel lucky and grateful that you apparently aren't walking in their shoes, Diane.
