Roundtable: Palin's Bombshell
July 05, 2009 9:58 AM
What's going on with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin?
It was all the talk this morning on our Roundtable where I was joined today by George Will, Cynthia Tucker, Matt Dowd, Todd Purdum and Tony Blankley.
Purdum, the author of a widely circulated Vanity Fair article about Palin this week, reported Palin was deeply unhappy running the government in Alaska. A window perhaps into why she announced she was stepping down this week and wouldn't run in 2010.
Blankley of the Washington Times' and former Bush-Cheney strategist Matt Dowd argued Palin has a keen political "intuitive" sense.
But what's in her future? Her latest Facebook entry suggests she's looking for a larger national role. Is a 2012 presidential bid on the horizon?
Watch the debate:
What do you think?

No doubt God told personally told Palin that she should quit as Governor if she is to be the world's saviour.

Who cares what Sarah Palin does? And why after the public has already moved on to things that have actual relevance to their daily existence, does the media insist on minute to minute coverage of stuff like this?
Posted by: jan | Jul 5, 2009 10:33:53 AM
If Limbaugh is "talent on loan from god". Where does Sara Palin fit into all this? I thought according to the GOP there already is a messiah and that is President Obama.

The woman is dumb as a post. Get over her.
Posted by: becks | Jul 5, 2009 10:43:20 AM
Because Sarah Palin will be the person that will lead us out of socialism!!!!!!
Posted by: 1bad427LS1 | Jul 5, 2009 10:45:09 AM
She has plans far outside any box that the elite leftists OR the Republicans in Name Only are trying to put her in. I'll wait for her to announce and then support her 100%
Posted by: Susan | Jul 5, 2009 10:45:33 AM
If she's so dumb, they why are all the Dems obsessing over her?!
Posted by: Michael | Jul 5, 2009 10:46:19 AM
Why is quitting her post as Governor mid term seen as a good thing and a harbinger of future leadership opportunities? If she is "unhappy" governing Alaska how could she handle an ENTIRE COUNTRY? Sarah Palins penchant for playing victim is also a red flag. Sarah Palin will never be able to effectively galvanize and lead anyone until she stops whining and blaming others for her reality.
Posted by: Jessie | Jul 5, 2009 10:46:47 AM
She had her Obama moment at the Republican convention and it scares the HELL out of the Dems.
Posted by: Clay freeman | Jul 5, 2009 10:49:12 AM
She has almost a million dollars in legal bill to defend ethics charges from being gov. for less than 3 years, sounds like a perfect GOP presidential candidate. Palin/Stevens 2012
Posted by: richard | Jul 5, 2009 10:49:18 AM
We should really just move on. She clearly has chosen to do the same. Catch her next season on "I'm a Celebrity. Get Me Out of Here."

Palin is the Chance the Gardener of the GOP. No one could make sense of her ramblings for a reason. Move along...

so far out of the box that she needs a roadmap to find her way around. BTW, I'm against her 100%, gee, sounds like she's cancelled out, exactly where she belongs
Posted by: spacerook1 | Jul 5, 2009 10:54:08 AM
If she was supposedly the saviour for the GOP during the election cycle why did they get kicked to the curb?
Posted by: Proud_Dem | Jul 5, 2009 10:56:59 AM
Michael, I just did not mean her I meant the whole GOP. She did nothing for the the other side. Except for them to become the party of no.
Posted by: Proud_Dem | Jul 5, 2009 11:07:33 AM
I guess I still don't understand why the Dems are so obsessing with her. By the way, isn't Mayor Berry a Dem?
Posted by: Michael | Jul 5, 2009 11:10:17 AM
Proud Dem: Seems to me the Reps have been the party of no ever since Speaker Newt's Contract on America, when they pretended to be for term limits, then voted it down.

Karl Rove who successfully guided President Bush to the White House twice, was remarkably cold on Sarah Palin's decision to resign as governor of Alaska during an appearance on Fox News Sunday.
The former Bush strategist and current Republican commentator argued that it was "not clear" what Palin's strategy was in resigning just two-and-a-half years into office, adding that the move was risky, left her vulnerable to her critics, and would damage her chances of becoming president.
"I think it hurts," Rove told host Chris Wallace. "When you're a sitting governor, you have the tactical advantage if you're thinking about running for president of turning down a lot of things with an excuse that people will accept. 'I've got a job to do as governor.' She's now removed that.

where.. when? She's been a dismal failure and an embarressment to a great state which she has now shafted twice by going back on her commitments to that state.
Her only following is a tiny handful of extremests.. and I think, the media.
Posted by: Cleo | Jul 5, 2009 11:23:21 AM
I think she saw herself spinning her wheels against absurd ethics attacks and knew there was an onslaught that would not stop no matter how ludicrous the claims were. It is better for her state and free's her up to get her message across.
Posted by: veronica | Jul 5, 2009 11:23:42 AM
she's stupid and anyone who would vote for her or support her is just as stupid! all you had to do is watch all her interviews and figure this out yourself!

Alaskan Jr. Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski on Palin's [Resignation]..
"I am Deeply Disappointed that the Governor [Palin] has decided to Abandon the State and Her Constituents Before Her Term has Concluded,"
-------------------
Note: Sen.Murkowski has a Much HIGHER Favorable RATING in the state of Alaska than Sarah Palin..FACT
Lisa Murkowski would Demolish Palin in a Senatorial Election. Abandoning her Governorship in 2 1/2 Years Kills her Chances in Alaska Period.
Murkowski has Much More National & International Experience than Sarah Palin, who has Absolutely [NONE]
Lisa Murkowski is an Educated Attorney and law Background.
Palin took 6 Yrs Hopping from College to College, only to Garner a Degree in [Journalism]
Governors have only State Side Experience

Palin will always be a lightening rod for BOTH sides. Yes Barry was a dem Michael. Way to miss the point. Palin is NOT a leader she is a quitter and a whiner. There is really no room for playing the "victim" card in politics ESPECIALLY for a woman. Clinton took heat for using it and now so too Sarah. If Ms Palin was unhappy leading Alaska...so unhappy she felt she had to leave her post mid tern that is NOT keen intuitive sense, that is someone who cannot handle to task. If she cannot handle leading alaska then how could she POSSIBLY handle leading America. If she has been treated unfairly by the media or been unduly attacked in terms of frivolous ethics complaints who on earth would think that THAT would dissipate in a higher office. It will only increase. I hate the cliche about heat and kitchens but it surely fits here. Palin is riding on the fumes of McCains insanity for choosing such a DUBIOUSLY unqualified running mate. She seems to be addicted to the attention and courts it all costs. The bottom line here is that Sarah Palin was NOT qualified to be vice president nor will she be qualified to become president. She may have "star power" but she has yet to exhibit any actual LEADERSHIP power.
