“I will see him on October 30 and I will bring the fear to counter his reasonableness. Because now is not the time to take it down a notch for America,” Colbert told me about the two scheduled "rival" rallies.
“I am going to rock his world on October 30. I don’t understand what it means to come together, to bring the moderates together, to have their voice heard,” Colbert said. “If they wanted their voice heard they should be shouting. They shouldn’t be moderate. How can you be extremely moderate? That is like wearing an extra medium.”
--The Comedy Central star also took a shot at Glenn Beck for saying Colbert would "activate the youth" at his "March To Keep Fear Alive" rally:
“I don’t know who on my staff told him about the youth activation, because I have been brain washing them for five years. And now I am going to activate them just like the Manchurian candidate,” Colbert, in character as always, said. “But not to vote. I want to scare people from voting actually.”
--On the possibility his rally could help Democrats:
“I think it is going to take more than a march to help the Democrats in November,” he said. “I think it might need, oh I don’t know, leadership? Maybe a few more ideas?”
--On Christine O’Donnell:
“Terrifying…She is a witch you know that...I think the latest clip is she said she rules the night and feasts on human flesh," he said.
"I think she has actually gone into a subterranean bunker with Sean Hannity."
--On Rahm Emanuel’s possible replacement:
“Why don’t you [replace him]?”
I’m not quitting my day job, but Colbert also told me about his first official trip to Washington – testifying tomorrow before a House Judiciary subcommittee on illegal immigration.
He'll appear with United Farm Workers President Arturo S. Rodriguez who -- in response to the argument that illegal immigrants are taking jobs away from unemployed Americans – challenged Americans to replace them as farm laborers. Colbert accepted.
“I went out there and I worked 10 hours in the fields. And I had to stop because my doctors told me I had developed a condition known as a blister,” he said.
“They had it lanced and bed rest for a couple of weeks and I’m right as rain,” he told me.
