47 Million Uninsured?

07/31/2009 5:30 PM

My health care segment airing tonight takes a look at what government run health care in America might become. I hope to get airtime soon for another segment on the disincentives of health “insurance”.

Along those lines, this cartoon makes a good point.

Thanks for being brave enough to do this show.I hope they air it this time.

Your "fact based" commentary is very refreshing, and the only sort of stuff that might redeem us boomers. Hope to see you doing some longer pieces in the future, perhaps 30 - 60 min in depth analysis.

Did they postpone it again? I'm watching something on Phil Spector. I'm boycotting ABC. When is this important story going to Air. John thank you for being a light in that darkness called ABC.

I'm sure the multi billion dollar HMOs that wrote your story are very happy with you. What a bunch of bull! "Waiting in Canada"!!!??? How about "never get it if you don't have money" in America???!!!

Complete bullsh*T

People who believe this are ignorant sheep. Enjoy your poverty when your insurance company drops you just when you need it most.

Limbaugh, Beck, Dobbs and Stossel....Now that's news!!!

great segment, wish it was the whole hour!
So many people do not understand the healthcare industry and what our country offers. This adminstration will demonize
anyone, doctors, insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry just to get there socialized agenda passed.
NO GOVERNMENT PUBLIC OPTION!!!!!!!

A big fan was very disappointed in your biasis report on Canadian health care.
Two questions, which country has the longer life expectancy and who spends mor per capitia on health care.
Do your math. Proud Canadian

You call yourself a jouranlist??? You have as much integrity as your dyed hair. What a one sided, biased commentary on the health care proposals. Why did you focus on the Canadian syster, except to frighten Americans. I am fairly informed abourt the various proposaals and there is not one that will result in anything remotely resembling the Canadan system. You lied.

That was propaganda! Distorting the truth to suit your needs. Noting that the current wait for a CT scan in Canada is a month, well yes it is if it is not urgent; however, if you need a CT scan immediately they will have you in within minutes as I had last year.

We don't have a perfect system in Canada and yes unfortunately we do have some wait lists which cause people to sometimes live with pain a little bit longer than if they had alot of money in the US. BUT WE WILL NOT LET SOMEBODY GO UNTREATED FOR A MEDICAL PROBLEM JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT OR JUST LOST THEIR JOB. Even though Canadians sometimes complain about our system, ask those same people if they would prefer US style system and they would scream no!

You have got to be kidding with this "report"!!!

You have probably never gone to a waiting room in New York (where there are many hospitals) and waited for over 24 hours while parked in the hallway.

And how come there were no responses from doctors and nurses who see the inequity of the for profit insurance system.

At a time when we need real debate, Stossel is still playing an old game.

Now I remember why I stopped watching 20/20. Thanks for the story John Stossel

It would have been nice to see some semblance of balanced reporting done on this. Surely there are positives and negatives to all systems but that is not the type of discussion you delivered. Deeply concerned about the state of reporting on ABC.
