Obama: Fortifying Bush's policies on terror

May 19, 2009 9:24 AM

There's a must-read piece in The New Republic this week by Jack Goldsmith, the former head of the Office of Legal Counsel, outlining specific differences in the Bush and Obama approaches to the war on terror.

In the article, Goldsmith concludes that despite Vice President Cheney's rhetoric to the contrary, Obama is making only slight changes to the Bush policies--and in fact is expanding some of them.

"(Cheney) is wrong to say that the new president is dismantling the Bush approach to terrorism," Goldsmith writes. "President Obama has not changed much of substance from the late Bush practices, and the changes he has made, including changes in presentation, are designed to fortify the bulk of the Bush program for the long-run."

Obama will end the war in Iraq. Period! However he would not be as careless as Bush and Cheney are.

Guys dont be naive. Iran will not give up their nuclear ambition. 90% of the 75 million Iranians support it. Its like telling asking Israel to disarm themselves of nuclear weapons. It just wont happen.

Every senator or congressman that votes to attack Iran must be the first to draft in the army. Because I`m not fighting a neo-con war.

Brian,

Well, then don't join the Army!

There is no draft ... fool !

Anyway,...so if this happens on Obama's watch, he must therefore be a neo-con!!!!!
