Hillary's Homerun

August 26, 2008 11:18 PM

My quick thought is that she nailed it tonight. Given all the drama, all the expectations, we can quibble about how much of the speech was about her, not about Obama. But she made a rational, coherent argument for her supporters to throw their considerable energy behind Barack Obama. Not all of them will, of course. But if tonight's speech is an indication of what's to come, you won't be able to blame Hillary Clinton for that.

We'll be back tomorrow -- and, as always, check out The Note tomorrow morning.

Wow! Wow! Wow!!

That's my girl!!!

And Obama made a terrible mistake...

If Obama has such good judgement how in the world could he have picked Joe Biden over Hillary Clinton for the VP
spot

You really have to question if obama is ready to lead.

Posted by: al | Aug 26, 2008 11:30:02 PM

nobama. Not now, not ever.

Posted by: misstickly | Aug 26, 2008 11:31:48 PM

Sorry, but this analysis is just bogus. Here is my takeaway:
1. Clinton should be the nominee, as her speech was amazing
2. AT THE VERY LEAST, she should be the VP
3. Obama trashed the Clintons, attempted to destroy Bill's legacy (which Hillary deftly reminded people of), and race baited - all so he could win no matter the repercussions.

Sorry, but Hillary did a GREAT JOB FOR HERSELF. She did not address the issues of Obama's readiness.

Of course we can blame her. If she had given this speech two months ago, she would not have had to give it tonight. Or better yet, if she had behaved unselfishly during the primaries and let the Republicans run their own attacks, maybe she could have celebrated the triumph of America more and mended the fences of the past less.

The failure of the Obama camp to pick Hillary as the VP makes you wonder who is in Obama's inner circle and to question their judgement.

Caroline Kennedy get that silver spoon out of your mouth and try working for a living.

WHY ISN'T THIS AMAZING WOMAN - STRONGER THAN ANY OTHER IN OUR HISTORY - THE VP??????

Posted by: Jeremy | Aug 26, 2008 11:33:34 PM

These idiots on MSBC are out of control. All of a sudden now Keith Oberman is a fan of Hillary Clinton, after months of bashing her this sicko is now swooning over her. Hillary did what she had to do tonight I am proud of her, but my vote is not dictated by her speach it is dictated by me doing my research comparing the records and comparing their past accomplishments and votes period.

Wow!!That was a great speech.
Proud of you Hillary. That's my girl!!

Obama you made a BIG BIG mistake Hillary should of been on your ticket!!

Posted by: Janet | Aug 26, 2008 11:35:02 PM

Obama is NOT ready to lead.

He did GOOD in his prepared speeches. That is it. That is all he has learned from Wright.

Posted by: Rob | Aug 26, 2008 11:35:20 PM

wow, you democrtas never cease to amaze me!!! apparently that was as historic as the " i have a dream" seech.. lol cmon guys, it wasnt anything grounbreaking! she came out and said what she had to say in order to keep her credibility. nothing more , nothing less.

THANK YOU HILLARY FOR YOUR
PROPAGANDA SPEECH BUT I WILL
VOTE FOR McCAIN......

Posted by: NICHOLAS | Aug 26, 2008 11:36:01 PM

I saw Hillary's speech and thought it was a good speech, but certainly not a great speech. She has given better. United Democrats? Bill Clinton will not be attending Obama's speech on Thursday...what does that say? I expected more red meat from the Democrats and do not think that they have laid a glove on McCain. Disappointing.

Posted by: Chris Morelli | Aug 26, 2008 11:36:09 PM

I'm still amazed how could you not pick hillary as the VP, its outragous and disgracefull.

Another case of the democratic elite being out of touch with America. When was the last time a kennedy worked in a factory or waited on tables.

Posted by: al | Aug 26, 2008 11:36:16 PM

Jenni-you should look in the mirror and blame yourself for voting to nominate an empty suit, you obamabots need to start taking responsibility for your ignorance and for your vote. When he looses, please look in the mirror and the person looking back at you will be the person that is responsible for this debacle.

Posted by: Kim | Aug 26, 2008 11:36:25 PM

The American people saw what is wrong with the Democratic Party. Hillary gave a tremendous speech and should have been the nominee. Enough of the Democratic idealism (Mondale, Dukakis, Kerry etc. etc.) Hillary would have had my vote in a heartbeat, but this loyal Democrat can not in good conscience vote for Obama. November = Vacation time for me.

Posted by: Rob Miller | Aug 26, 2008 11:39:11 PM

first off, OBAMA AND HILLARY HATE EACH OTHER. wow. do you guys actually think obama gave hillary a thought about being his v.p. choice?! she talked more about herself in that speech rather than point out to eveyone (especiallyhe stubborn supporters) why obaa should be elected. she covered her ass with that speech and thats it.

Posted by: tim | Aug 26, 2008 11:39:28 PM

As a proud Hillary supporter, I CANNOT bring myself to vote for a less qualified leader in Barack Obama.

I will send a statement to men everywhere - women will no longer sit aside and watch as unqualified men are given our rightful jobs.

McCain 08!

Posted by: In Despair | Aug 26, 2008 11:39:52 PM

Really with the exception of the Obama's and Caroline Kennedy is their any one in America, Democrat, Republican or independent who honestly believes that Biden is a better choice for VP then Hillary?

What a sham what a disgrace

Posted by: al | Aug 26, 2008 11:40:08 PM

Hillary Clinton hit a Grand Slam with the bases loaded of her 18 Millions supporters to drive them to the polls in November to win the election.

Posted by: Angel | Aug 26, 2008 11:40:35 PM

Remember a vote for McCain in 08 is a vote for Hillary in 2012.

Democrats for McCain in 08 and Hillary in 2012.

Posted by: al | Aug 26, 2008 11:41:18 PM

what jobs are women not getting out there based on being a woman?! where did this big resurgance of women being held down come from lately?! am i missing something on that?

Posted by: tim | Aug 26, 2008 11:42:36 PM

NO ONE honestly believes Biden was a better choice than Hillary.

And NO ONE honestly believes that Obama was a better choice than Obama.

It should have been Clinton/Biden 08

Posted by: JA | Aug 26, 2008 11:42:38 PM

Like I read on another blog, people will be scratching their heads wondering why on earth Obama picked Biden. Or why they nominated Obama.

McCain all the way baby!

Posted by: Jo | Aug 26, 2008 11:43:01 PM

Tim,

It's very common in the corporate world and higher level jobs that women are not given higher titles, despite qualification. It's not about lower level or mid level jobs, but the big jobs.... like President.
