John Berman has been at ABC since 1995, and allowed to appear on television since 2001. He covered the 2008 campaign extensively, following John McCain and Mitt Romney during the primaries and then Barack Obama in the general election. He also spent more than 20 months chasing George W. Bush around the country as a producer from 1999 until 2001, earning the clever nickname, "Pain in the Ass," from our 43rd president. He is a frequent and sometimes welcome contributor to all of ABC's broadcasts.

Kennedy Will Attend Convention

August 25, 2008 10:32 AM

From ABC News' Rick Klein, author of The Note: After much speculation, Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., has arrived in Denver for the Democratic National Convention.

"Senator Kennedy is in Denver and plans to attend tonight’s tribute to him." said Kennedy spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter told ABC News on Monday. "He’s truly humbled by the outpouring of support, and wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world."

Cutter said Senator Kennedy plans to attend the convention but she insists that as of now, he has no plans to deliver a speech. But will the Lion of the Senate be able to resist?

A video tribute to Kennedy, D-Mass., is slated for Monday evening to kick off festivities in Denver. Directed by documentary filmmakers Ken Burns and Mark Herzog, the video will be introduced by Kennedy's niece, Caroline Kennedy. As reported Sunday, the senior Senator from Massachusetts very much wanted to attend the Democratic festivities, but needed sign off from his doctors.

I'll be blogging all week from Denver -- and next week from St. Paul. Check back here for more entries.

Was the media not paying attention? Kennedy endorsed 0bama in Massachusetts and he couldn't win it there?

THERE'S NOT ONE SINGLE AMERICAN FLAG AT THE CONVENTION. NOT ONE. SHADOWY FADED STRIPE OR TWO HERE AND THERE. NOT ONE SINGLE FLAG. If this is what these people represent the obviously show such disdain for America they should just leave not try to lead it.
And they call this loyalty? Look at the look on Hillary's face! If looks could kill... http://drudgereport.com/cu.jpg

I wonder if any family members of Mary Jo Kopechne will be in attendance at the convention.

Or the woman with whom Kennedy was found "in flagrante delicto" (or whatever the Latin term is) on the floor of a restaurant.

Actually, the President of Johnny Walker should be there, too - I think Ted Kennedy is personally responsible for about 50% of their profits for the past 50 years.

Please, pray for Teddy - he is a legend (in his own mind).

He is kind (of a scumbag).

He will soon be gone (but not soon enough).

He should take Caroline with him.

I was very disappointed to read what several bloggers wrote. Their emails shows no empathy for someone who is quite ill with possibly terminal cancer. You may not like him, you may disagree with him, you may want him not to be a senator- that is fine. You may have strong feelings about Mary Jo incident. I do too, but he was not convicted or charged. None of us truly know for sure all the police and legal details. We only know media reports. All can be quite different.

Those of you who wrote such mean vicious remarks about a person that is ill, actually reveal your true character, no respect or empathy for others. Your callous opinions are shameful. Americans are known for having big hearts. Not you. I feel very sorry for you. Sadly you are missing so much of what life has to offer.

My Best Wishes to Ted Kennedy. I extend my sincere support in his courageous fight against "The Big C."

No Pauli,
American don't need someone in office that instead of valuing the American course, he bashes them. Instead of coming up with good ideas he called his opponent all kind of names. He is one of the guy that in back of his mind may think "GOD DAMN AMERICA".

I can't beleive some of these people here have no common sense. Of course we give sympathy to the onse that have trageties in their lives but that does not mean giving them the free pass to say do and act however they want too especially with your hard earned money. The fact is if one of these guy makes the wrong decision then I would worry more for millions of Americans and not just sympathy for himself. Of course when you die and rest in peace that's it for you how about millions that are left to be suffered because of your wrong decision?
