Springsteen, Bon Jovi to Join Obama Thursday?
August 25, 2008 2:02 PM
From ABC News' Rick Klein, author of The Note: It's his life, and he's born to run. And it doesn't get much bigger than this.
The Rocky Mountain News is the latest to report confirmation of a rampant rumor in Denver: That Bruce Springsteen is planning a brief acoustic set Thursday night from Invesco Field, from the same stage that Sen. Barack Obama will receive the nomination.
That would make it a big Jersey night: Jon Bon Jovi is also slated to perform that night.
Surely "The Rising" needs to be on Springsteen's play list -- it gets played at just about every Obama campaign event these days. A fellow Bruce fan suggests adding "Long Walk Home" and "The Promised Land." Maybe "Land of Hope and Dreams"?
As for Bon Jovi -- let's guess that "Livin' On a Prayer" isn't the right note to hit.
Thoughts? Do rock stars matter? Of course, there are rock stars, and then there's The Boss. . . .

This should get the ratings up for Thursday night. Who was the guy that sued mccain for using his song? Was it John Melloncamp? Obama/Biden 2008!!!
Posted by: pt | Aug 25, 2008 2:34:23 PM
I don't think Oprah cares if you watch her or if any other celebrity cares. The bottom line is change is coming to America. Get on the bandwagon or shut the hell up.
Obama 2008 Yes We Can because you already did!!!

Stop letting the celebrities and the press distort your views of the race and the health of our country. Be pro-active, informed, and engaged. Even slight change is better then the status quo.

I know someone that is 76 years old and has voted for a republican president all their life. He told me, enough is enough, I'm voting for Obama because this country can't afford another bush term. Obama 2008!!!
Posted by: pt | Aug 25, 2008 2:43:34 PM
ALL OF YOU TRAITORS SAY YOU ARE DEMO'S BUT VOTE FOR MCCAIN, HOW MANY HOUSES DO YOU TRAITORS HAVE. I GUESS PAYING FOR HIGHER GAS PRICES DOESN'T MATTER TO YOU.
YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW WHAT LOYALITY IS ALL ABOUT.
THAT'S WHY THE SAME AMERICANS LOVE YOU TODAY, AND HATE YOU TOMMORROW.
YOU GUYS JUST HATE THE FACT THAT SOME BLACK GUY IS PERCEIVED IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT, AND NOT HANDCUFFED.
Posted by: DEMARCO | Aug 25, 2008 2:45:20 PM
"Think either one of these guys has just one house?"
None of these guys are running for office and are setting policies. McCain could never understand the working middle class. He nor his wife has ever lived off pay check to check. The McCains own 7 homes, drives a cadillac and lexus while earing $500 shoes along with $3,000 suits.

"I know someone that is 76 years old and has voted for a republican president all their life."
And I've always voted Democrat, although I won't this election.

It'll be interesting to see if Mellencamp performs "Small Town," given Clinton's use of his song. He could substitute "state" for town ("I campaigned in a small state"), but Clinton's bitter supporters probably wouldn't appreciate the humor.

How much did it cost the DNC to put on this shindig? Slumping economy seems to effect everyone unless you're a politician of course. What a disgusting display of excess.

I'm boycotting the boycotting liars that claim to be Democrats posting for John Sidney McCain.

Hey Mack how much is the Iraq war costing?? Money is just paper but lives are gold.
Posted by: Sam | Aug 25, 2008 3:16:36 PM
Demarco,
Are you related to Michelle Obama because you sound like her, really angry and full of hate toward Americans.
Democrat for McCain

I like that idea. Boycott celebrities who endorse Obama!
A democrat for McCain
Posted by: JasonDC | Aug 25, 2008 3:19:41 PM
People always assume that I am an Obama supporter but I will only support someone who is qualified to run the country.
I am a Democrat voting for McCain.

Oh, I'm sure Springsteen and Bon Jovi will quake in their boots. ROTFLMAO!
Posted by: Cindy | Aug 25, 2008 3:25:38 PM
It is ridiculous that people refer to the democrats who are voting for McCain as Clinton supporters. Even though many, many of us voted for Clinton it is not because Clinton is not the nominee that we are voting for McCain. Had a qualified candidate been elected (unlike Obama who was selected) then we would still be voting for a Democrat.
A Democrat who will vote for McCain.

"Hey Mack how much is the Iraq war costing??"
Not sure. Maybe you should check with Joe Biden.

Sharon do you need a pen... Hopefully you and Robert, Alex and Gringo can all go somewhere and have drink. I see you all and your same silliness on allthe blogs. Frankly, we have started laughing at you and saying, there go some of Rush Dumbo's people.. Don't they sound stupid.. Anyway, move out of the way and let progress through.. OBAMA/BIDEN 08/12.....

ABBA will rejoin to play "Dancing Queen" at McCain's nomination along with Air Supply.
Posted by: McCain is a Douche Bag | Aug 25, 2008 5:30:40 PM
a Democrat for McCain?
That's ridiculous. I can't think of a presidential candidate in my lifetime that has less to do with core Democratic values than John McCain. After 8 years of a president who has taken a pass on all accountability, the last thing we need is a guy in his 70's with an anger management problem.
Having Bruce Springsteen play a few songs following Senator Obama's acceptance speech on a Denver summer night will be triumphant. I can't wait.
Posted by: mox | Aug 25, 2008 5:35:48 PM
I would suggest that McCain invite Ozzy to sing War Pigs.
Posted by: Huh | Aug 25, 2008 5:45:59 PM
Ozzy could do Paranoid as well...

OH boo hoo, I feel so bad for all of you idoits that want to vote for the POS Mccain. I dont want to hear you cry when we are in the middle crisis in the world, so dont cry. I am calling it know if McCain wins, he will be the first ever President that is Impeached. Cause he is a total F--- Head. So all you pieces of crap that keep, crying about whatever you want. Eat crap and die!!!! i am vented

Old rockers? Jon is 46, how young are you sweetcheeks? Everything he's touched latly has been golden. Number one album, highest grossing tour in the world this year 130.000.00 albums sold. He is a celebrity but also a taxpying citizen of this country and has the right to speak out. You are just a bunch of old white racists who can't stand the fact that we will have the first black president soon. Get over your cheap trashy selves.
Posted by: Jerzeme | Aug 25, 2008 9:59:48 PM

You should be more mature about the way you communicate. This is one of the many privleges in this great country that you ALL live in...if you dont like it you can get out. it will NEVER change, ITS AMERICA....WELCOME TO IT!!!

For the one that asks if Bon Jovi & Springsteen have more than one house, I say to you, Bon Jovi gave Oprah 1 million dollars for victims of Katrina. He helped raise funds for The Red Cross, after 9/11. He has built houses for Habitat for Humanity. He has given schools in inner cities, computers. He helped to raise millions for Tsunami victims. His humanitian efforts go on and on. How many politicians do you see giving millions? If it were up to me it would be Bon Jovi for president!! Yeah they are self made millionaires, and at least they are giving back. They have lived the American dream and they are doing someting, instead of just watching. They deserve 10 houses if they want.
Posted by: Amy | Aug 28, 2008 10:39:32 PM
I wish they would just sing their songs and not try to sway votes. Same thing with actors.
Posted by: Rich | Oct 17, 2008 1:23:27 PM
The dog they will choose, the china? Who cares? Michelle Obama hates American, period. Wake up everyone! Obama is a fraud and a lier. Our nation has allowed a corrupt man to obtain the highest position in the land, without being vetted. If you want more government control, we just got it! God help us all!
