John Berman has been at ABC since 1995, and allowed to appear on television since 2001. He covered the 2008 campaign extensively, following John McCain and Mitt Romney during the primaries and then Barack Obama in the general election. He also spent more than 20 months chasing George W. Bush around the country as a producer from 1999 until 2001, earning the clever nickname, "Pain in the Ass," from our 43rd president. He is a frequent and sometimes welcome contributor to all of ABC's broadcasts.

Mitt Hits Libs
September 03, 2008 9:15 PM
Anyone think we've seen the last of Mitt Romney on a national presidential stage?
Listen to the cheers Romney got tonight in St. Paul -- and listen to the gusto with which Mitt railed against liberals.
"We need change alright -- change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington," Romney said. "I know that liberals don't have a clue. . . . It's time for the party of big ideas -- not the party of big brother. . . . This is no time for timid, liberal, empty gestures."
As for what Mitt really thinks . . . let's just say he can imagine the sight of a the party needing someone who looks like a president to run against Barack Obama in 2012.

I'm still laughing over Huckabee's speech, saying that Obama brought back "european" ideas of government.
Uh, we stole the idea from democracy from the Greeks. That's why our main buildings look so greco-roman.
However, the rest of his speech was entertaining, and at least it stuck to the issues - unlike the rest of the ones I've heard so far.
Who was that idiot screaming "Drill Baby Drill" anyway.

He can get a job as an Oompa Loompa stand in, he was just the right shade of Orange.

I am bored to tears, Huckabee is such a douche.

As a European I am VERY offended by Huckabee's speech. He slamed Obama for visiting Europe and said he was concerned about what he brought back. That's exactly the arrogant tone of republic Americans. Think they are the best in the world. And Romney said America is the Worlds Hope. Ha Ha
Wait actually he is right! On November 4 when Obama becomes the first black President of the United states.
That's the day wich will unfold Hope. Watch the reactions!

Poor Obama. The excitement here is HUGE at our convention. Makes the Democrat convention look so boring because we had heard it all before. Obama seems old news now.
THIS is the place to be! The Sarah Palin excitement is building like nothing else!
I laugh at how Obama's advisor was on H&C laughing about Mitt Romney saying something like "well he came in 3rd, so we're not worried about him"....Uh, I guess you forgot what place BIDEN came in! LOL.
The dems are running scared and causing them to make gaffes and idiotic statements.
Whoooo hoooo! Say hello to your next VP!!! Palin!!
Posted by: Jo | Sep 3, 2008 9:54:45 PM
Thanks to Obamabots & the media, millions that wouldn't have normally tuned in, will now do so out of curiousity. And they'll be won over by Palin and they'll be voting for McCain.
And we can thank the Left for that! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Who would have thought that in 2008 we'd have liberals saying Palin should STAY AT HOME & RAISE HER KIDS....and conservatives saying....SHE CAN DO IT ALL!!!
Looks like conservatives are the REAL progressives after all. LOL.

Oh Mitt ,you could NOT even carry your own state honey,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

What did Biden come in? 10th? Lol.
Posted by: Jo | Sep 3, 2008 10:17:20 PM
Either Republicans are really THAT delusional and in denial... or Jo is actually being paid to look that dumb. I hope it's the latter coz I don't think anyone should display such idiocy on the internet without being compensated for their embarrassing behavior.
Posted by: Jo is a Paid Republican Troll | Sep 3, 2008 10:33:52 PM
It's Republicans like Jo who give the GOP a bad name. As a Republican woman, I cringe when I see people like him/her posting such arrogant, immature vitriol on blogs. We're really not ALL like that.
I plan to vote for McCain but I'm having second thoughts because of this Palin thing. I wasn't sold on her at the beginning but instead of having her grow on me, I'm becoming more and more disillusioned by this ticket everyday. She does NOT represent my values and it seems like she has more scandals than Obama and Biden combined. Choosing her to pander to the Clinton feminists and the extreme right wing women makes me really angry with the McCain campaign. This is clearly a case of CAMPAIGN FIRST, COUNTRY LAST.
Obama is a man of good character but his policies are a bit too liberal for me. I think I just switched my vote to Bob Barr.

here's a comparison of their experience, side by side.
980 - 1984: Him: Ivy League degree. Her: tiara
1985 - 1990: Him: sterling legal education. Her: sportscaster.
1991 - 1995: Him: Expert on our nation's fundamental legal principles. Her: plotted to leave the Union; thinks Pledge of Allegiance was written by our founding fathers, doesn't know what a Vice President does.
1996 - 2000: Him: sponsored 800 bills. Her: swayed 616 voters.
2001 - 2004: Him: demonstrated the wisdom to oppose the Iraq folly before it even began.
Her: hasn't really though much about Iraq - despite the fact that 17 Alaskans have died there
2005 to present: Him: Impressive figure on the national stage who knows how Congress works and is engaged with foreign policy issues.
Her: small state governor for 21 months; "next to Russia", but that is just 1 of the 190 countries in the world she has never been to.
Conclusion: the word "executive" is not some kind of magic force multiplier when placed in front of the word "experience".
sure we can. after all, 0bama never claimed to be a governor. he IS, however, and excellent senator.

This election is like comparing angus beef (McCain) to a McDonalds hamburger.
No comparison. None. I predict a McCain landslide.
this convention is awesome.
Obama who?
Posted by: Jo | Sep 3, 2008 11:34:43 PM
Mitt, too bad Obama wasn't in charge of Illinois - he just votes now and then when he's not running for president.
Palin has done more in a week than Obama has done in his career. With A LOT MORE ON THE LINE.
Whoooo hooooo Vice president Palin!!!

The liberal media pundits are speechless and when they do talk they sound so glum.
I'm so loving this. Obama must be miserable right now.

The nation is in love with the Palin family.
Posted by: Jo | Sep 3, 2008 11:39:57 PM
MItt Romney was governor of the most liberal state in the nation. Oh yeah, that was an East-coast state. Guess that makes him one of those East-coast liberals he screamed about. He was for abortion before he was against it. MItt Romney: doing what it takes to show America I matter. Needed sunglasses to protect myself from his skin's orangish-radioactive glow.

Thanks to Palin,
Alaska got 100 million more in government earmarks than any other state (360 million total in earmarks), for a population of 670,000.

10. Bush Senior picked Quayle; Bush Light picked Palin
9. Quayle likes Happy meals; Palin – Mooseburgers
8. Sarah is spelled with 5 letters and two syllables. Dan has one syllable and 3 letters. He didn’t look too bright as a baby either so his parents gave him a name he could spell.
7. Sarah Palin looks good in a dress. Quayle ….I don’t think so
6. Palin doesn’t live in the Lower 48; Quayle cannot find the Lower 48 on a map

4. Dan Quayle is soon to become an old man. Sarah Palin is what every old man wants: A Beauty Queen Bimbo
3. Dan Quayle is a looser from the state of the Hoosier. Sarah Palin has a fine @ss and is from the state of the Aurora Borealis
2. The school that Palin attended actually taught her how to spell potato since it was in Idaho; Quayle ………Well he still thinks there is an ‘E’ on the end
1. Quail is a meal sometimes served under glass. Palin has most certainly been eaten by someone, and wants to break the glass ceiling.
