John Berman has been at ABC since 1995, and allowed to appear on television since 2001. He covered the 2008 campaign extensively, following John McCain and Mitt Romney during the primaries and then Barack Obama in the general election. He also spent more than 20 months chasing George W. Bush around the country as a producer from 1999 until 2001, earning the clever nickname, "Pain in the Ass," from our 43rd president. He is a frequent and sometimes welcome contributor to all of ABC's broadcasts.

And They're Off...
January 20, 2009 10:56 AM
All the big cars are on their way to the Capital. Lots of comments from the ABC hallway on Michelle's gloves. I didn't notice them. I bet Barack Obama didn't either (husbands usually don't, that's all I am saying).
As for the craziest accessories...the Cheney wheelchair and cane combination defies comment. I can't think of anything either funny or poignant. It is just too strange. I welcome submissions.

Someone on my Facebook did note the similarity to Dr. Strangelove, which I think does say it all.

Also, the royal purple scarves sported by HW and Barb are pretty awesome.

Gee John, you are such a mice guy to be so thoughtful and well mannered. I have several comments on the man (Cheney). Have u noticed in his wheelchair he looks a bit like Mr Potter in "Its a Wonderful Life" ? Cold mean man .

Someone needs to tell Charlie that the scarf that Mrs. Obama's brother is wearing represents Oregon State University where he coaches the basketball team. Not Princeton!!!
