John Berman has been at ABC since 1995, and allowed to appear on television since 2001. He covered the 2008 campaign extensively, following John McCain and Mitt Romney during the primaries and then Barack Obama in the general election. He also spent more than 20 months chasing George W. Bush around the country as a producer from 1999 until 2001, earning the clever nickname, "Pain in the Ass," from our 43rd president. He is a frequent and sometimes welcome contributor to all of ABC's broadcasts.

Bush Staffer: 'We're Ready' to Go

January 20, 2009 2:07 PM

From a longtime Bush staffer getting ready to fly home on the big plane formerly known as Air Force One.

I asked, how's the mood?

The response?

"Great. 43 walking around, shaking hands, hugging. We're ready."

Good riddance George.

Our thoughts and prayers go with President Bush and his family. Through the trials of our nation over the years, he has shown strength and determination to lead a nation determined to hold him responsible for our own foolishness. I am sure he is ready to take a step back. God Bless

Not many people stick to there word anymore...good to know you still do. God Bless you and Laura and welcome back to The great state of Texas!

Former President Bush still deserves the respect his office commands, and that is true whether or not you voted for him and whether or not you agreed with his policies and actions.

Now is not the day for recriminations of Mr. Bush. While many of us can and will celebrate the new president, we can all still afford to be gracious to the now former one.
