John Berman has been at ABC since 1995, and allowed to appear on television since 2001. He covered the 2008 campaign extensively, following John McCain and Mitt Romney during the primaries and then Barack Obama in the general election. He also spent more than 20 months chasing George W. Bush around the country as a producer from 1999 until 2001, earning the clever nickname, "Pain in the Ass," from our 43rd president. He is a frequent and sometimes welcome contributor to all of ABC's broadcasts.

Kennedy at the Convention
January 20, 2009 3:20 PM
It was August when Sen. Ted Kennedy bravely took the stage at the Democratic convention. It wasn't at all certain he would be well enough to speak that day. He was battling kidney stones on top of the debilitating treatment for a cancerous brain tumor. He came from the hospital to deliver the speech, and when he electrified the crowd from that stage he promised it wouldn't be his last, he promised that he would make it to today to see the inauguration of Barack Obama.
He said, "I pledge to you -- I pledge to you that I will be there next January on the floor of the United States Senate when we begin the great test."
Well, he was there today to see the inauguration. He did make it. And now an entire nation is praying that he keeps on making it for some time to come.

God bless Ted Kennedy. His decades long fight for affordable health care for all Americans is just one of the reasons I admire him.

A note for Ted Kennedy...
Senator, as a fellow Democrat I am praying that you recover quickly and completely from this latest ailment. We need you. We, the Dems, need you. We the Americans need you. Mind the Doctors, mind the Lord.
Until you are back on the floor of the Senate in fine fettle, you will be on my prayer list and that of a lot of other people.
