Shameless Self Promotion

January 20, 2009 2:10 PM

It is kind of a strange quiet period at this very moment; the new president and Congress are behind closed doors eating weird foods and waiting to watch marching bands.

It would be a great time to take a look at a few of the new residents of the White House.  One that we know about, Marian Robinson, and the other, the still unknown First Dog.

Learn all about them in these ABC News videos!

And to think, just four years ago the Democrats were whining about Bush's $43M innauguration bill. How much did they say the festivities were for this week's party? $170M! I guess we already know what's going to happen for the next four years.

dear nicole, the 170 mil is total including security.....not 170 mil for festivities....

Congratulations American voters, you have elected the least qualified President ever and that man has nominated some of the most corrupt people around to his administration including Greg Craig, Eric Holder, Tim Geithner, and, of course, Bill Richardson who has already left. Hang on to your seats.

How can you compare Obama's qualifications to Bush's ineptitude and outright criminal torture policies? At least he is starting out with an IQ greter then 75.

Posted by: pat | Jan 20, 2009 3:08:50 PM

ron - I hope you change your mind about Obama. I am a republican and I voted for him because he offers hope...why can't you see how he has changed America already in a positive way?

Posted by: KM | Jan 20, 2009 3:09:49 PM

I agree with Ron. Do you really believe Obama climbed the political ladder in corrupt Chicago without being involved?

Posted by: Katie | Jan 20, 2009 3:09:57 PM

Katie,

I bet there's crime in the town or city you live in. Probably drug dealers and prostitutes too. Does your address in that town make you any of those things?

People, it is time for the pettiness to stop. You talk about corruption, what the hell do you think the last 8 years were? Our attorney general had to resign, our defense secretary had to resign, GOP congressman involved with Abrammoff (excuse the spelling), an inept FEMA director.........need I go on. And please, will someone tell me what the qualifications are to be President?? Being a governor, long time in Washington?? McCain picked someone who stated her foreign policy credentials were "I can see Russia". Never been overseas, never met a foreign minister, a first term governor. Boy that was a very qualified person.

Please always bring in the differences, I'm OK with that, but when you criticize, offer solutions (which I don't hear from anybody). If you don't like what's going on (BTW - it the Republicans who made government the largest in history and nationalizing our financial industry). Tell your congressman your ideas and ask him or her to bring it to Washington. If you don't have any ideas, then don't bash the ones that are being offered.

Are you kidding ME!!! JEsse Jackson is on spewing his CRAP! I can't believe Obama would have him anywhere near his camp. Jesse was caught talking badly about OBAMA during the election on CNN on about how Jackson thought OBAMA was taking down to Black people. Now he thinks Obama is the best thing since sliced bread. GET REAL!! Whats on your agenda JESSE? Heads up Obama....The AL Slim Shady Sharptins and Jesse Jackson's will be calling IN THEIR Favors real SOON!

Charles - a voice of sanity and Pat - a wonderful example of openness and true partisanship. I know that 8 years ago I found it difficult to the commander in chief as I had not voted for him. I take my hat off to you.

Now lets all get down to business and reasonably discuss the issues and what needs to be done to fix them.

Regards.

Martin

hmmm! does the truth hurt?

Don't blame President Obama and his new administration for the security price tag for his inauguration. Instead, rejoice in the million + people who made their way to Washington, D.C., to take part with pride. Whatever your politics, it is a unique moment in history and worthy of protection for the people who helped bring it about.

How sad to read these negative comments of this historical day in our country, my goodness it hasn't even been twenty-four hours that he has taken oath of office. Don't be so narrow minded,be encouraged.

Some people can't unclench their fists long enough to hold out their hands and try to work together. Pity. But it won't stop the rest of us.

Bush had his years in the barrel now it is Obamas turn. While I did not vote for Obama I will support him when I think he is right and let my congressman know when I think he or they are wrong. I certainly hope Obama will be spared the back biting, bickering and the absolute disrespect that has gone on in Congress, towards the office of President for the past 2 decades. In the Presidents speech he made some good points and I am hopeful he will succeed in the efforts of holding everyone accountable for their actions. I hope this starts with an investigation on what the hell happened to collapse our economy and if ands when he does it will be interesting to see how deep each party is involved in this mess and if each party has the resolve to get rid of the scum that are involved.

I guess he is the 1st President to be treated like KING with all those very expensive inauguration ceremony, luxury stuff including Cadillac with 4-5 inches glass..wowwww..

President Barrack Hussein Obama, you have given us hope that with our hard work, tomorrow will be a brighter day, one that shines more than yesterday. Let us all work towards a better future for ourselves, our families, communities, and nation. We will return to you our efforts in exchange for your commitment to help better our country and government.

Well said PJ. That is the right attitude. As Barak said, we must put aside our childish differences.
