Closing Arguments: Should Clinton Stay or Go?
June 02, 2008 8:37 PM
Hillary Clinton had a big win in yesterday's Puerto Rico primary, and there are two fights left -- tomorrow's primaries in Montana and South Dakota.
But rumors are swirling that Clinton is dropping out of the race. While campaigning in South Dakota, her husband remarked that “This may be the last day I’m ever involved in a campaign like this.” The Clinton campaign says that she won’t concede.
What do you think? Even if she does well tomorrow, is that reason enough for Clinton to stay in the race? Or should she drop out and concede to Barack Obama?
Take a look back at the Clinton campaign here

Never give up!
She has the right to stay!
She has with stood more than the other Candidates and going strong, kudos to her.
She is Strong, Determined and for the people.
She would beat McCain. She would Defend and Protect this nation. She will be for all citizens.
Hillary is not Quitter.

Why go now? She's won more votes, taking all of Barack's supposed strongholds, leading in the GE polls, looking to pull off at least one upset tomorrow. Take it all the way. We're not going to let the Rules and Bylaws Committe hijack this election. And frankly, Barack is tanking. He hid his past as best as he could but it's all coming to light now.
Besides, Hillary will make the best POTUS this country has seen in decades.

i give hillary alot of respect me being a woman im proud of her i dont think she should give up until its over but its pretty clear obama has won and i think the best thing hillary could do is support him and i think we should all come together to defeat john mccain

i dont think we should bash the canidates anymore thats not helping the party
Posted by: angie | Jun 2, 2008 9:01:00 PM
I dont think she should totally pull out, but rather suspend her campaign. Anything can happen in this crazy election and if she just suspends it, it can be revived at any time. She has fought one heck of a race, but she does need to step aside now in order to solidify her own political future and unite the party. I wish it were the other way around, but again it aint over until August.

She should leave and go far far away.............Get some meds for she thinks someone died and left her God.

There is nothing ABC news can do to stop Sen. Clinton from becoming President. About three years ago a well known televangelist, Perry Stone Jr., told his congregation that God spoke to him and said Sen. Clinton will be the next President. This information can be obtained from one of his published works on CD entitled “Strange Patterns of Recent American Presidents.” On track 7 of this CD, he tells us that Sen. Clinton will once again be in the White House. So give it up ABC News. And Barack, your days are numbered.

Since the popular vote metric is mostly Hillary's invention and is not exactly measurable, and that's her only sticking point, she should fold and quietly go home and get some much needed rest.

The black pro-self-rule and Third World Nationalists are running the Democratic Party they are acting that like they are in Zimbabwe not America. The Democratic Party over the weekend showed for the first time that Democracy has failed by the impact of stealing votes away from voters and awarding them to Obama. They decided the intent of the voters! And that’s okay. Everyone in the room should have just gotten up and walked out but they didn’t, maybe because most do not realize the impact of what just happened. A lady called Harriet Christian did speak up and she was appalled and was escorted from the room. She probably was the only real American left in the room. So you lower the bar on Tuesday, so that Obama can reach the nomination, you give him extra delegates and you tell the woman it’s time to call it a day even though she has received more votes throughout the country. And, you let this third world interest in our country take over without even looking into what is happening. McCain will win by a landslide because you’ve not only lost the 17 million voters but another group---those that love America.

To Obama's credit, he successfully gamed the bizarre Dem primary system to his advantage (with a huge assist from the media). Unfortunately for him, the general election is a straight up and down popular vote and a winner-take-all electoral college. Hillary has as much right to claim the popular vote win as he does and she has a decisive win in the electoral college. There's nothing to hide behind in a general election. Best of luck Barack.

Obviously, if Hillary Clinton wins in Montana and/or South Dakota she should stay in the race and fight.
However, as a supporter (philosophically and monetarily) of Hillary Clinton, I can honestly say that once the nomination is settled, it means I don't have to listen to political rhetoric and campaign speeches.
If it turns into an "Obamanation", as Howard Dean and his buddies are dictating, my wife and I will be voting for McCain, and there will be no further need to listen to endless arguments.
If nothing else, this campaign has been extremely tiresome. The Democrats had a shoe-in victory in November with Hillary Clinton, but they've thrown it all away.
A possible positive side-effect of McCain's election would be for Democrats to close the Star Chamber as it is presently configured.

She should stay til the convention if that is what she wants to do. She has been pressured to get out since Iowa, it has been ridiculous. The press and her supposed fellow Democratic backstabbing friends have been salivating like wolves trying to get her to drop out. I'm sure they wished she would have earlier so maybe all of the Wright/Ayres stuff wouldn't have come up so early. She is still the best qualified candidate, then McCain. Obama has a lot to learn yet before he's ready for the toughest job in the world, and he and his campaign staff need to learn the word 'humility' if they want to beat McCain.
Posted by: dwc | Jun 2, 2008 9:19:13 PM
Why should the winer drop out??? The whole process is a joke.
Posted by: J | Jun 2, 2008 9:20:05 PM
dwc... BHO learn "humility"? The King of Arrogance learn humility?
Obama'a patronizing statements to and about Hillary Clinton are enough to gag a maggot.
He's been claiming victory for almost as long as Howard Dean and his committee of power brokers has been demanding Hillary's resignation.
As you pointed out, Hillary has been back-stabbed and trampled by Democrats in their stampede to turn the November election over to Old Man McCain.

Do not give up.

I heard the Republics has a tape about Michelle Obama speach at her church calling for killing white Americans.
Clinton will most likely suspend her campaign tomorrow, and then wait for the tape coming out in October.

I would like to see Hillary stay the course and wait until the convention is over and she is declared the winner - not only by popular vote but by common sense. She and her family have given this campaign their all. She has campaigned in all states - whether she was 'projected' to win or not. That can not be said for another candidate who will go unmentioned. I am thoroughly disgusted with the way this campaign has been waged. Their does not seem to have been any media respect for Hillary and her campaign. There is not a news network that you put on or a paper that you read that does not portray Mr. Obama as the Democratic candidate even though he has not been given that honor. IF (as it has been stated by these same news programs and newspapers) Mr. Obama does get the Democratic nod my family (my extended family) and I will be voting for Mr. McCain unless Hillary is put on the ticket as a candidate for another party.

Hillary has many reasons to stay in the race. Soon news wll come that will make millions so glad she did. Here is one of the reasons...http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/06/02/thread-4-michelle-obama-and-louis-farrakhan-take-on-whitey/#comment-306519

John... If there were such a tape as you describe, it would have already been posted on a Website. NOTHING is "secret" these days; there are "leaks" everywhere.
Besides, if it turns into an Obamanation, the Republicans won't have to work very hard to elect McCain. If Hillary somehow gets the nomination in defiance of the DNC dictators, McCain will have a very difficult time.
Posted by: Rhys | Jun 2, 2008 9:42:46 PM
oldgaman asks: "Why is it an article like this shows up on the eve of every primary?"
Duh... is it maybe because the news media have been "in bed with" the DNC from the get-go?
Hillary should continue to defy "orders from above" and stay in the race. The more the public learns about Obama, the better Hillary looks!

Well since Howard Dean has finally come forward to now admit Hillary was recieving way more than her fair share of sexist remarks I think she should stay in the race. Frankly thats the only prayer the Democrats have of winning the White House in November. There is a gathering storm thats going to decend upon the democratic Party for the mistreatment of Hillary Clinton in this race by mysogny boys in the media. I'll give charlie Gibson a pass because I never heard him say an unkind word concerning Hillary. There are women uniting all over this country as I write this getting ready to leave the Democratic Party. They feel as though the Democrats have handed this election to Obama which they have and we are not happy about it. I have been a life long democrat and if Hillary is denied I'm not voting Democrat ever again. which means i'll vote for John McCain in the GE.

The reality is both candidates ran a hard race, and only one person could win. Clinton prepared for a sprint, and Obama prepared for a marathon. It's not an issue of race or gender. Clinton was out-strategized by a freshman senator. Where was her "experience" to save her from that?

She should stay and here's why. The DNC gives delegates away. They gave Barack a whole boatload on Saturday. So me and a few hundred of my friends have been calling the DNC to request our free delegates too. They're not too happy about it, but if we keep calling, maybe they will relent and give us Hillary supporters some free delegates too. Then we can catch up. Please call the DNC! Get your free delegates! Insist on it.
Did you realize that had this election been fairly counted, Hillary would be within 26.5 delegates? That's right, and would maybe catch up tomorrow.
Posted by: SadStateOfAffairs | Jun 2, 2008 10:37:33 PM
Go? go where? she is a democrat and will stay a democrat. Many candidates lose but it doesnot mean that it is the end. She has to stay and play the role she dedicated her life for. politic is an ugly game but not a war. At the same time it is wrong to put her lose on obama, or DNC or sexism. she simply conducted a campain that failed to attract the number or people or delegates she need to get the nomination.
Posted by: leche | Jun 2, 2008 10:52:01 PM
Within 26.5 delegates based on what?

Hillary is the BEST candidate for Presidency, McCain is the second BEST.
We, the voters will decide in November and confirm this truth.

If past history is anything to go by, Obama won't try to win head-to-head with McCain but, as he did in Chcago, fight dirty and try to discredit McCain in some way(s) still to be determined. He definitely fights dirty, or rather, he gets people to fight dirty for him

Stay in. It isn't over until the first round of the convention. If the pledge delegates were the only delegates, then it would be a lost cause, but the way the Super delegates have moved around, until they cast their vote on the floor, it isn't over.

I am really upset that Cynthia McFadden stated that Hillary was the most viable female in history that ran for President. Did she forget Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm (November 30, 1924 – January 1, 2005) was an American politician, educator and author [1]. She was a Congresswoman, representing New York's 12th District for seven terms from 1969 to 1983. In 1968, she became the first African-American woman elected to Congress. On January 23, 1972, she became the first major party African-American candidate for President of the United States. She won 152 delegates.[2], [3] Other women who ran for President of the United States in 1972 include Linda Jenness and Evelyn Reed.
I must let you know that as a reporter of her stature her words were a disgrace to a race of Black women and to especially a misrepresentation of American History.
Mrs Clinton is in the race and is a viable candidate. Sen. Clinton is not just the most viable woman. She is just in the right part of American history, and Mrs. Chisholm was right in her history making also. Ms. McFadden should make a retraction to her statement. I think she was rude and one sided in her opinion.
Sincerely,
Marguerite

Clinton should stay. Obama can never win this election against McCain.
Even though I'm more left wing than Clinton is, Obama doesn't have the experience to run this country and his in-experience with foreign policy concerns me.
Obama's speaches are written by the same writer that helped Deval Patrick win in Massachusetts. Where is the sincerity in Obama's 'Change'?
I hope Clinton continues and wins the whole election.

It's time for Hillary TO GO!!!!! She's done enough damage to the Democratic Party for about 10 election cycles. Let's see, she's race-baited Obama, invoked his possible assassination, crowed that she's won the "hard-working voters, white voters," implied she didn't know whether he was a Muslim or not, and called on hysterical harpies to scream at Saturday's meeting of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee. Oh yes, and she never admitted that voting to approve the Iraq war was a mistake. And she's run a terrible campaign based on inevitability and entitlement. Most of all, she's done everything she could to try to destroy the most visionary, talented, inspirational, and truly wonderful candidate the Democrats have had since J.F.K. So, yes... She should go, and go now!!!!! Was there any question???? Long, long ago (last December, that is!) I actually admired Hillary, and deeply admired Bill Clinton. But they have hideously tarnished their legacy of service to this country. Hillary is very sad, and I pity her. But it's time for her to exit the stage and make room for the next President of the United States. Period. Maybe if she does everything within her power to support Barack Obama in the general election, she can redeem herself slightly; otherwise, she'll be consigned to the trash heap of selfish, arrogant, deluded, megalomanic politicians. GObama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hilary Clinton should stay until she becomes the nominee. If anyone associated with this election should go are the ugly TV people and their ugly comments. And that includes you Cynthia Macfadden- you are the worst of the lot. I am 70 years old and have watched elections on TV since they started and this year was the worst analysis by TV people in history. Positively disgusting.

Posted by: Terri | Jun 3, 2008 12:15:13 AM
Hillary Clinton... She is a viable candidate. She should not go, the media should stop encouraging her to leave-especially since Barack Obama has not claimed the number to clench the nomination. If Clinton had been given respect for winning Florida and Michigan before, the complexion of the election would change. The treatment that Senator Clinton received was outraggeous. By her own party, by the media, and by pundits. The fact remains that Hillary Clinton has the same platform as a younger man, she has more experience, and he won because he was able to capatilize on a slogan for ambiguous change optomizing the ignorance of most americans--namely that "change" is 1) needed and 2) that our politics is ineffective. The fact is Barack Obama represents a frustration with a system that uses incrementalism, and a triad of bureaucracy, lawmakers, and the special interests to make policy work. Special interests give the individual a voice. Barack Obama and Hillary are virtually one in the same. The race and sexism card you can't help but acknowledge since Barack Obama is black and Hillary Clinton is a woman. She was more qualified, had a better resume to win in November, and was declared unfit by the media and her party. Obama was annointed winner because his momentum obtained by in large an ambiguous message for message for change and a large unfaltering support by sexist (men), and near perfect support by Blacks. People want to vote for someone who most resembles themselves... While this holds true no man looks at Hillary clinton as one of there own, nor does a black person see the white clinton as one of their own. Paradox... Hillary never had a chance--- Barack was black enough and he was white enough to over take a white female in a democrat election, come november a black man will not be able to win against a white man... this country is too racist, and too unimpressed with Barack Obama
Posted by: Eric | Jun 3, 2008 12:15:52 AM
She should go. She has not won the popular vote you fail to recgonize the people who have voted in the caucuses. IF you count all the votes Barack Obama has the popular vote. HIlary Clinton should join unite the party so that her legacy will be that she helped the country to elect the first african american as president of the united states of america.
Posted by: Sheila | Jun 3, 2008 12:16:00 AM
She should stay. The MEDIA created OBAMA, but the people prefer CLINTON. And if we are honest, if we really want to beat McCain, we need Clinton, at the end of the day OBAMA is just a novelity.

THE MEDIA HAS BEEN HAVING THIS DEBATE SINCE JANUARY
IT IS YOUR DEBATE.
TELL US WHAT YOU THINK, THEN WE'LL ALL SAY, "NO DEAL"
YOU ALL SPAT ON OUR FACES AND THIS IS PAYBACK TIME.
SHE LEAVES WHEN SHE WANTS
SO ANSWER THE DEBATE
"DEAL OR NO DEAL?"
HER SUPPORTERS SAY, YOU AND DNC PARTY OF DIRTY OLD MEN, THE ANTI-CLINTONS, CAN BURN IN HELL!!
AND TAKE OBAMA TOO!!
Posted by: TJ | Jun 3, 2008 12:17:03 AM
I am absolutely amazed as to how many negative comments there are surrounding this nomination fight. All the Clinton supporters should come to REALITY and FACE it. Your candidate NEVER played by the rules and as a result, lost. I had loads of respect for her before she marginalized
Sen. Obama as "The Black Candidate." If any of the Clinton supporters vote for McCain, I bless them. Their choosing to act like an adolescent child. They should be happy with the thought of a additional 4 year Bush term and should personally pat themselves on the back for aiding in the destruction of this country because the chose to maintain a high school mentality. It doesn't surprise me at all that Clinton supporters are blue collar and high school educated. She has a connection with the immature and intellectually inferior.
Posted by: Ben | Jun 3, 2008 12:18:04 AM
Yes, she should stay in. This race is a virtual dead-heat with less than a 1% difference in the popular vote. Hillary is gaining momentum while Obama has been fading for the past 3 months. The job of the superdelegates is to chose the candidate that can win in November. Every poll shows Hillary is that candidate. Clinton should stay in - she is the individual that can win in the contest that really matters.

Hillary should go! It was over a long time ago and she has just prolonged the pain of this election. Obama will defeat McCain because the country cannot afford more years of the Bush failed policies. McCain has embraced those policies nad it just makes me sick. Obama can restore our standing the world.
Personally the best person for the job was Edwards, but we must move on to the next choice and the best choice left is Obama!

Sen. Clinton MUST Go! The sooner, the better. Sen. Clinton's argument that she has won a majority of the popular vote is without merit and does not reflect Sen. Obama's successes among the caucus states. I tired of her shrill speeches and the yelling of so many angry white women. I am tired of the misrepresentations of people like Ferraro and Steinem who want to acknowledge gender but not racial bias. Go, please go. I only hope that after so much race baiting and negative spin, Barack can salvage his campaign and restore his theme of one America.
Posted by: SuJay | Jun 3, 2008 12:19:57 AM
Hillary should not throw in the towel. Info is now coming out about irregularities in some of the less sophisticated caucus districts - particularly in Texas - and reports are that Obama received more delegates than he deserved. If his people have not run a clean campaign, and the public is made aware of it, it may cook the rest of his goose, which is already feeling a lot of heat. Depositions have been made to Congressional committees that the last two Presidential elections were stolen by Karl Rove sitting at his laptop in his office; for "one of our own" to pull such stunts may be too much for decent members of the Democratic Party to take.
Hang in there Hillary. It's not over until it's over. Polls show that you have the best chance to beat McCain of the two candidates. We need a victory in November.
Posted by: Loyal Democrat | Jun 3, 2008 12:20:50 AM
She should stay. The fight is not over until the last vote is counted. She has shown us what she is capable of and this country needs a President that is strong. Not all change is good and the other person in this race has not told me how he is going to make all these changes happen. Good ideas need good plans and hard work. Hillary is a strong worker. She would be a great Captain of any ship.

There's an old quote that goes: "It ain't over 'til it's over!" Regardless of the 'black man trumps ANY woman' attitude, there's still a few months of chance that the 'golden boy' could screw up again. Of course all this rhetoric means bupkiss since the 'popular vote' is meaningless. Dubya proved that one. The first Continental Congress must be spinning at hundreds of thousands of rpm's each!

Relative to our numbers, woman are woefully underrepresented in our government. Hillary's resume is more substantive than Obama's. Should super delegates have more power than the popular vote? When will we have another qualified female candidate? And we wonder why it's still a man's world. If Hillary is not on the ticket, I would rather vote for McCain, register as an independent and sleep at night. J

sure, she has the right to stay and can take it to the convention if she so chooses, however, it seems that at this point her continuing to stay in the race only makes her look like she's in denial about the state of her campaign and emphasises the loss of power of the clinton family in the democratic party.
is it any less historically significant to be the first woman vice president? does not winning the nomination preclude her from running in 2012?

STAY!!!!! She is the MOST qualified candidate with her experience as the First Lady of Arkansas, the First Lady of the United States and as the Senator from New York. She will be a GREAT President of the United States!!!!!

Absolutely! In the beginning I was for John Edwards, then I wondered about Barack Obama but decided he just didn't have the experience yet to handle the job. In the end, after following the race very closely I decided Hillary really shared more closely my own views about the war, economy and particularly healthcare. She has championed healthcare all along. My son has no insurance and he is a healthy 29 but what happens if he gets sick? My daughter is disabled and could not buy insurance before she became disabled. These are people who worked but still can't buy insurance. I have healthcare insurance but can't afford co-payments and deductibles so am going without doctor's care and preventative measures. I really fear that we will lose the presidency because the media has so negatively impacted Hillary's campaign, they made it an uphill battle all the way. In spite of that she continues to fight, successfully. I believe if she loses it will be due to people like Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman and the venom put out by MSNBC. I stopped watching and switched to CNN and Fox to get a better picture. Some of the commentators are so vicious that I wonder where the shock value is that allows comments that so villify Clinton. Now to think the DNC took AWAY votes from Clinton and gave them to Obama is appalling. It makes me think of looking at a third party option. I am astounded. Don't tell me it was because Michigan didn't play by the rules nor did FLA. The DNC did change the rules didn't they? The voters didn't agree to throw away their votes did they? For Shame that the DNC would actually STEAL votes from Hillary and give them to Obama! Yes I am angry, very angry. Well, it appears we will get another 4-8 years of someone who isn't qualified to do the job. That is about what we had with Bush, isn't it? Obama isn't about change. He doesn't want universal healthcare, even though he says he does. If you don't insure all the youth who don't need healthcare as often, you will lose the older coverage because insurance companies need the leverage to offset costs. Obama isn't experienced enough to recognize that. He won't stand up for change in the oil industry nor did he stand up against the war or his minister. I really fear he hasn't the fortitude to do this and will end as a lackey for the special interests. He already is changing things to please isn't he? From churches to flag pins, give it up for the cause.
No Hillary we need you and Bill!

Yes she should stay! The voters should choose! Not super delegates! Why do we vote if our vote is overridden by delegates?

I think that a lot of people would vote for McCain if Clinton is forced out. I would rather vote for her as an independent or third party nominee.

Hillary, behavior has been degrading to all women, she is a pure disgust, and need to go somewhere and hide herself, from off the face of this earth.
She has no shame, and will stoop to anything to win.

She should STAY! She deserves to win it. The media needs to stop saying that it is over or that it is hurting the party for Hillary to stay. It only makes Hillary look pathetic when she is anything but!!! She is a strong women who can run this country and some people are intimidated by a smart women.

HILARY CLINTON MUST STAY, SINCE SHE HAS WON ALL BIG STATES. THIS GIVES HER BETTER CHANCE TO WIN IN NOVERMBER. SHE IS THE BEST CANDIDATE TO BE PRESIDENT.
IF SHE IS NOT SELECTED , I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR DEMOCRETE EVER.

Sen. Clinton, will never give up, I think the hiarachy in Washington are running scared, Sen. Clinton can stand up to all of them, and will get more done in Washington, and in eight years time, think how many FEMALES will be running for president, its about time the "GOOD OLE BOYS CLUB" will be broken, Long Live Madam President

I think she should GO! She needs to stop being a sore looser. She is NOT going to win. I feel she would make things worse if she was to become President. GO AWAY HILLARY!!! As for counting Michigan and Florida's votes...They should NOT count those. They told both states from the beginning if they moved their primaries they would NOT count their votes. They moved their primaries so I guess they didn't want their votes to count; otherwise they wouldn't have moved the date of their primaries.

Hillary should not quit. She is the better candidate. I think it is time to let a women try her hand at being president. She can't do any worse. I believe she is the only one that will be able to beat McCain. I for one will vote for Mccain if Obama is the candidiate. McCain would be the first republican presidential candidate I have ever voted for.

I strongly feel this is just another manupulation to take the right of the people away. Not much different than the "Electorial College" which I totally disagree with. At first I was not totally decided when it started here in Iowa, BUT now I am, and it's Clinton.Listen to the people, and we want you to stay!

I understand the passion of Hilary's supporter. However, it seems that her supporters are extremely negative and completely against uniting the democratic party, or the country for that matter. How can anyone who has been against the Bush administration, say that they would vote for John McCain without hesitation. It's unintelligent, and it wreaks of hate so strong for Obama that they would rather the country suffer for another 4 years out of spite. I'd rather not vote for anyone, than help elect a George Bush replica. I don't really understand the hatred for Obama. He seems like a decent guy who wants to do the right thing for our country, just like Hilary. I guess I do understand why you hate him. He took a short cut and cut Hilary off at the pass.

Of Course Hillary should stay. You biased and idiotic pundits of the press are the only ignorant ones that feel she should quit. Most of America knows she is winning,17 million appear to know that and she has the popular vote and a better chance of beating McCain in all areas. She has integrity and the vote of the American people to win. Why doesnt Obama drop out. It is you the press that is trying to elect him. Not we the people of America. WE WANT HILLARY! Why dont you read this post on nightline and respond to your biased and ridiculous questions that you asked Senator Clinton. She showed her class and integrity to even respond to the ignorant questions Cynthia asked. Where did you get that @#$@%^ reporter at? She asked the stupidiest questions I have ever heard. Is she stable? She doesnt seem in touch with reality. My apology for coming across so harsh, but I am so angry at the unfair press Hillary has recieved and continues to recieve. Us Clinton supporters will never give up and if she doesnt get the nomination I do blame the press and there biased reporting of the facts. I and many other supporters will write in Hillary Clinton for president. It appears that is the only way we can get across the fact that WE America Want Hillary. It is now a matter of principle and I have never been so enraged at the Democratic Party. The are also to blame if McCain wins due to supporting the wrong nominee. Goodnight Nightline.

To all the unity preachers....it's never going to happen. It's Hillary or McCain plain and simple. She should stay in but if she gets out I'm behind McCain 100%. (And it's not just me, there are a large number of us that will never vote for a terrorist sympathizer).

What is with these deluded people??? Some of the comments above are positively intergalactic!!! The media have given Hillary Clinton the benefit of the doubt more times than anyone could possible deserve. But she's run a terrible, nay hideous, campaign. What's especially sad to me is that she seems to have convinced a few hundred thousand emotionally vulnerable women that not voting for Hillary is sexist or even misogynist, and that she deserves the Democratic nomination even though she clearly has been the weaker candidate. Face it, folks: Barack Obama has stayed on message across all these months, and delivered a message of change and hope, of transformational politics. Hillary has resorted to the worst kinds of race-baiting and attacks in order to try to bring Obama down. And for what? All for her crazy narcissism and sense of entitlement. There are many, many, many wonderful women politicians out there--for example, Kathleen Sebelius, Janet Napolitano, Claire McCaskill, and Christine Gregoire, just to name a few--who could very soon be terrific presidential candidates (after two glorious terms of Barack Obama). But somehow, some women have bought into the idea that Hillary is not just A woman, but "WOMAN," in some archetypal sense. It is outrageous that she should scream "sexism" after running such a God-awful campaign (which by the way was managed primarily by deluded men). Historians will have a field day analyzing all the political mistakes Hillary Clinton made during this primary season. But fundamentally, beyond the missteps, Hillary was simply the wrong person for an election year in which the electorate is looking for fundamental change. She was looking for a coronation while everyone else was looking for a new message. It's time for Hillary to pack it in, for the sake of the Democratic Party and of the country.
