Remembering Tim Russert
June 13, 2008 7:57 PM
What Tim Russert did was put passion into political journalism at a time it was sorely needed. He loved the game, he loved the tactics and strategy--but he also loved the substance of our politics, the real debates over the real choices we face in coming to grips with our real problems. His enthusiasm for what matters in politics, which stemmed from his palpable love for our country, was a rare quality. And it remains an inspiration.

I am only 34, and I have had my coffee Sunday morning for so many Sundays watching MTP.
I will truly miss him. My Sunday morning ritual for the last 8 years is forever altered.
Rest in peace Mr. Russert, and all my prayers to your family.

He was a man among men. Good reporter and a wonderful person.
Very few honest good people in this world any more.
Peace be with you Tim. May God be with you wherever you roam;
Make Jesus your lover and heaven your home!

Gosh, what a loss for television news.
His passion was infectious. I can't say I watched "Meet the Press" every week but whenever I was watching the news or switched stations and Tim Russert was on I would at least stop to hear what he had to say.
Seemed like a smart and decent guy--good qualities in a reporter and president.

I remember watching NBC Nightly News every day just to see what Tim's take was on the day's political headlines. For me, he was a grounded voice of reason in a sea of partisan opinions and agendas. I could always count on him to tell me both sides of an issue and remain neutral and impartial. He was the embodiment of Truth.
I cannot imagine following politics going forward without his insight and forthrightness. My heart goes out to his family and his friends.
The world is a little less illuminated without Tim Russert.

Sometimes you have the urge to ask why?why now,i sincerely wish Tim was able to at least witness the outcome of the general election come November,I think Tim himself would have wished the same but God knows best, Tim,we all love you, thanks and may your soul rest in peace.

My first reaction was there is a God to take care of those who abuse their power and authority. NBC/MSNBC marketed a GE product called Obama to the detriment of Hillary. I would have liked Chris Matthews to be the recipient of some godly punishment

To Tim's family, my deepest sadest condolences. I was shocked and numb at the news and thought ' no this can't be true'...what a loss of such a fine, decent, intelligent wonderful man.
Tim's passing is a terrible loss for his wife, son and father...just know from one person who watched and listened and admired him for years, his loss is deeply and honestly grieved and he will be missed by so many who admired a man who had a great mind and even more a great heart.

Goodbye to an honest and decent man who held our politicians accountable for their statements and actions. My deepest condolences to the Russert family to lose him, especially on Father's Day weekend.

Tim can't be replaced as a political watchdog. His absence will be missed by all who have seen him at his calling. He brought to the average person the inside of politics so that the qestions that the average person wanted to know were out there and answered. He was a man or honesty and conviction and will truely be missed.I feel for his family on this great lose, and pray for them.

In the age of the 24-hour internet news cycle when we are bombarded with tabloid internet journalism and biased commentaries by so-called "newsmen", Tim Russert stood out. In an era when every media outlet claims to be "fair and balanced" to cover their bias, Tim Russert really was "fair and balanced".
He was an iconic symbol of fairness and honesty in public debate and letting the voters make up their own mind.

Tim Russert brought sensibility to politics. I always looked forward to him on Sunday...and I always looked to his views on politics. He will be truly missed. May God Bless him, and May God Bless and Comfort his family.

My prayer's go out to Tim's family.
Tim demonstrated what a "fair and balanced" reporting of the news should entail. He was a skillful interviewer and he never interjected his personal views on any topic. Some of the so called "fair and balanced news" journalist could learn a lot from Tim.
A huge void now exist in the mainstream media by the sudden departure of Tim. Our loss is Heaven's gain
