George's Report Card: Did Clinton Ace Night Two?

August 26, 2008 6:11 PM

Abc_ntl_reportcard_080825_mn_2

David Schoetz reports:

Substance trumped style as the Democratic National Convention opened Monday night in Denver, with the party earning high marks for tugging at delegate heartstrings but flat-out flunking on the program's aesthetics, according to Night One's "Nightline" Report Card.

ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos awarded an "A" to Democrats for maximizing on the evening's emotional highs, including stirring, surprise remarks from Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., the Liberal Lion who took the stage and moved many to tears.

"A triumphant, human moment for Teddy Kennedy, a historic and healing moment for the delegates," Stephanopoulos told "Nightline" co-anchor Terry Moran.

Success on Night One, headlined by Michelle Obama, wife of presumptive nominee Sen. Barack Obama, slipped to a "B+" when it came to "filling in the blanks" about the party hopeful. Stephanopoulos praised the would-be first lady for assuring delegates that her husband is a patriot, but was cooler on her ability to convince them he is ready to lead.

Any chance of an Honor Roll spot took a knock when Moran asked about the "bells and whistles" of the Pepsi Center stage setting, which Stephanopoulos called "garish and kitschy."

"I hated that stage," he said. "It looks like a slot machine in Reno."

On the Report Card's final subject -- the psychodrama surrounding Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., – Stephanopoulos marked an incomplete.

"We just don't know yet," he said.

Of course, Clinton will have the chance to change that tonight when she takes the stage as the Night Two headliner.

Did she make the grade? Tell us what you think.

YOU LIB'S GAVE INTO IDEALOGS AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY. WHEN REAL AMERICANS COME ALONG YOU CAN'T RECOGNIZE THEM. THE MUSLIMS ATTACKED US, NOW YOU JERKS WANT ONE FOR PRESIDENT. YOU ARE ALL NUTS. YOU MIGHT REALIZE YOUR LOONASY WHEN YOUR HEAD IS ON A CHOPPING BLOCK, TO LATE TO TALK AND NEGOTIATE THEN.

Posted by: bombem | Aug 26, 2008 6:43:59 PM

Did you mean ideologue, because idealog is not a word, not to mention your comments are inappropriate, untrue and un-American. Is bombem a Muslim name?

Posted by: formerdevildog | Aug 26, 2008 7:11:37 PM

It is safe to say that hillary will be better than the Marxist Michelle and the old toad Kennedy. But, that is not a very high bar.

Posted by: Sluggo | Aug 26, 2008 7:31:27 PM

I am in my 50's now,and this is the FIRST election since I've been able to vote that I am not going to participate in. I wish there would be a place on the ballot that we can vote for "NONE OF THE ABOVE"---none of the candidates are worth voting for.

Posted by: Karen | Aug 26, 2008 10:42:15 PM

Highest marks possible accross the board! She has more class than all the rest. I am so proud to have voted and supported for her.

Posted by: Lynn | Aug 27, 2008 12:00:51 AM

hiliary clinton gave the speech of this century i will never forget this night

Posted by: michael keyes | Aug 27, 2008 12:01:34 AM

Hillary knocked it out of the park. She made me wonder why I didn't caucus for her instead of Edwards. What a fantastic speech and as some would say presidential. Barrack you have your work cut out for you..........

Posted by: Kay | Aug 27, 2008 12:02:26 AM

Hilary was wonderful tonight, however, I still as a Democrate will not vote for that liar of a Muslim. I do not trust him one bit. He may not even be a Citizen of the United States. I may put Hilary in as a write in if I decide against McCain.

Posted by: Thom | Aug 27, 2008 12:02:54 AM

I believe that the 30% of the Clinton supporters that do not want to vote for Barack Obama are racists. That's not what here speech was about, it was about unity. Just an FYI, it's no secret that some people are making this about color. I haven't seen anything negative from Brack Obama, but yet because of your ignorant views, you've decided to vote for McCain. It's your perrogative, but don't try to make it harder for Barack , because he is a GOOD man and will be a GREAT PRESIDENT. I'm disgusted with those of you with your negative and uneducated comments. Your exactly what the world doesn't need.

Posted by: Crys | Aug 27, 2008 12:03:02 AM

Hillary was gracious and spectacular as always, I can not believe they will allow this travesty and not allow the peoples choice for the Democratic nominee!!!!

God bless America because McCain will beat Obama!!!!

Posted by: Ladyshay | Aug 27, 2008 12:04:03 AM

The people still speak when you see them all support Hillary, but she is the one we feel should be the nominee and not just because we want her but because she IS the best candidate to be our leader in the White House!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Dee R | Aug 27, 2008 12:04:13 AM

Hillary's speech was great.....so impressive, now let's get together and CHANGE the direction this country has been going.... nowhere!! Barack the vote!!

Posted by: Shelley | Aug 27, 2008 12:06:51 AM

Hillary gets an A for her effort to clean up the mess she created.

America is full of haters and they look for the littlest of nothing to justify their position of hatred and opposition to change in the direction this country is going.

No matter how the election turns out--we are doomed because of the ugliness of people who want to stay in power and continue raping this country and getting richer and richer off of people with less.

What amazes me is how the media THINKS it knows the private thoughts of people and tries to read what they want in what people say and think in order to justify their agendas in supporting the status quo.

Posted by: Jo | Aug 27, 2008 12:07:15 AM

I Was so excited by Hillary's
Speech!!!! I voted for Hillary in the Primary and I have to admit I was unsure of Obama, however after watching the convention tonight and the speech, I truly believe that Obama is the best candidate for President.

I never would have voted for the McCain. "NO McCain, NO Way!!!!!!"

Posted by: Sandy | Aug 27, 2008 12:07:15 AM

The democrats did a great job tonight. Everything went fine Hillary Clinton was great. Go Dems.

Posted by: Walter Bolton | Aug 27, 2008 12:07:31 AM

I think the democrats are handing the white house to the republicans. How stupid we should have won by a landslide. So thank u Nancy Polosie and Ted Kennedy and Caroline you will have no one to blame but yourself when we lose.I will vote for McCain so I can vote for Hillary in 4 years and so will a lot of us.

Posted by: cora brothers | Aug 27, 2008 12:07:57 AM

Good speech. Now let's see her stop begging to have her bills paid and actively support the nominee. Bills she ran up when she refused to drop out of the race at a time when it was clear that she would not win the nomination. She needs to actively campaign for the party and look as if she seriously supports the nominee and not appear to be window dressing.

I cannot rate Hillary's speech as a 10... she was more of a hundred. Mind you, I am not a Hillary fan nor am I a Democrat, but I am a descendant of a very prominent political family, and I know how a major league politician plays the game, and she was superb. Like George said, tonight, she raised the bar! The best part is that every word that came out of her mouth was the Bible, so although, she shone as a politician, she did it without loosing an inch of credibility. Wow! She rocked!

Posted by: Mimi | Aug 27, 2008 12:09:01 AM

Hillary did a commendable job in speaking of herself. Not one time did she mention Obama would be a great leader, or has high standards, or is a great man. Count 'em up - not once. it was a vote the party message, and a weak effort to bash McCain. Overall a C- at best

Posted by: Brad | Aug 27, 2008 12:09:14 AM

Hillary deliverd the speech of the century. I hope the Democratic party realizes they picked the wrong candidate come November.

Posted by: Rob | Aug 27, 2008 12:09:32 AM

HILLARY SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE CANDIDATE. I'M SO HAPPY THAT I VOTED FOR HER. HOWEVER, I WILL SUPPORT OBAMA, THO' HE WILL HAVE TO PROVE HIMSELF TO ME.

Posted by: Carol | Aug 27, 2008 12:10:25 AM

Hillary hit the ball out of the park tonite. But then she always does. I can't help but feel dissapointment in the supporters of the other candidates that didn't see what a great leader she is and what a unbelievable President she would make. She has such grace, passion, commitment and a strength that I have never seen in any Politician. Shame on the Kennedys for turning on her. I think the problem is that she scares most insecure people.

Posted by: Maureen | Aug 27, 2008 12:10:34 AM

George S. why do you continue to make divisive comments? Hillary made an awesome speech; one of unity, delivered with class, and very moving. All that said why do you say "Obama owes her big time?" I believe that had Obama lost he would have done the same thing. Why can't the press stop working for the MCCain camp of negativity and work towards bipartinsinship and unity in America? Don't you love America too?

Posted by: TiffIn | Aug 27, 2008 12:10:37 AM

Hillary was fantastic and a true Democrat. She is a class act and shows true courage in bringing everyone together for the Democrats. No way, No how, No McCain!!! I don't care what anyone thinks we have to unite and elect the ticket of Obama/Biden in November.

Karen who is over 50, for someone as wise as yourself, why waste your time wishing for what can't happen? As for not having a candidate to vote for, that was me four years ago. I decided to look at their individual platforms, and had to make a choice. You've got to have faith! What do I need my government to do for me AND others around me? What is important this election? Then make a choice? Keep on top of what is going on in your district, keep on top of what your house reps and sentators are doing, become active in what your government is doing. For better or worse, this is the America we live in. Remember, you don't have to love them, just vote for one.

God love you Hillary and keep going...The country needs you...

Please tell George S. he can stop holding up the banner for Hillary Clinton she is not the candidate. And Barack Obama does
'nt owe her anything. She only gave the speech to save her self, knowing she wants to run in 2012 and if she backstab Obama she can kiss her political career goodbye. Please it a new day, and the new voters have time to remember the turncoats.

Hillary certainly gave Obama credit for readiness to be President when she allowed he would lead America toward restoration of its place in the world through mature diplomacy rather than the "triumphalist" Bush/McLain worldviews, as demonstrated by his reception in Europe; and his ability to surround himself with excellent advisors (eg: Biden) foreign policy. It's fair to imagine that Obama recognizes the necessity of keeping a positive vote like Hillary's in the senate or possibly HHS, rather than VP. I think Hillary gave us, the audience, a clear impression that Obama makes good choices and exercizes mature judgment in personal, policy and political areas. I'd give her an A- where you gave her a C. Tremendous unifying speech!

As an independent I find all the rah rah for the party stuff irritating. To
appeal to me they need to show a willingness to go against their party. Hillary fails miserably at that.

Posted by: J Keenan | Aug 27, 2008 12:18:59 AM

David Schoetz made a statement that Barak owes Senator Clinton big time during his commentation. I strongly disagree, Mr Obama owes Senator Clinton nothing. He defeated Her and maintained his integrity in the face of much adversity. The cost we have paid and continue to pay to America you will never know Mr. Schoetz, but one thing is certain it's time for change, it's time for unity, it's time for truth, it's time for Barack Obama!!!!!

The thing that is very sad in this country, we consider ourselves to be so great and yet we are the worse in the world when it comes to taking care of each other. It would be very nice at some point when our government regardless of your party take care of home first, leave the other countries to deal with their own mess. As far as Hillary supporters goes, get over yourselves, which part do you not understand she is not the CHOICE! Hillary's husband messed her changes up, Really, what would you do if you had someone spreading lies about you, and being a racist? Would you want to be around them, or have to work with them, I don't think so. This is a race war and with the Clintons it always have been and it is pathetic to say the least. The MEDIA fueled so much fire and division in this nation it will be interesting to see if we ever recover. The Media knows why Hillary supportors don't want to vote for Mr. Obama, be honest, it is because he is black stop sugar coating. You guys make me SICK!

Posted by: Desiree | Aug 27, 2008 12:20:30 AM

I agree with Maureen. George S. is definitely a McCain supporter. I've given up on his journalism years ago. He seems like he is trying to shove his personal views on everyone. By the way George, no one is listening to you anymore. Your washed up and overrated. As for the rest of the negative comments, keep them to yourself. No one wants to read your iliterate and shameful comments. Your makin yourself appear to be ridiculous and pathetic.

She did a wonderful job! It was a great speech. I'm so glad she's on our side!! She may not be our next president but, she proved tonight that she is certainly NOT limited by it! With Obama in the White House and Clinton is the Senate, it's looking better and better!!

Posted by: Shannon | Aug 27, 2008 12:22:33 AM

Terry Moran is a tool. The Nightline Report Card is so incredibly lame that you can just tell it wasn't Stephanopoulos' idea when he's presenting it. Let George lead the show for goodness sake.

Posted by: Kristin | Aug 27, 2008 12:22:58 AM

Who are you BOMBEM???? You are listening too to many uneducated Republicans. Check out your facts before you start verbalizing lies!!!!

Obama is not a Muslim and we are only in this war because the president told us all a bunch of lies.

Check your facts before you bash an awesome person. The next PRESIDENT OF THE United Stated of America. Thank God!!!!

Hillary's address to the DNC was awesome. The point of family at a high strung and crowded convention is not lost on the millions of parents watching. I too would have my children beside me no matter what age. When the time comes to look back in history and compare memorable moments, I feel that the historians will view the moments on stage where the children of Barack Obama were able to freely respond to their dad as memorable a moment as when the Kennedy son was shown to be saluting his dad's casket. Different situations, but still, a child's love for a parent has no limits. And to say the children were out of control and were bothering the advancement of the DNC schedule was very poor judgement. These two little girls are beauties who are in love, and the moments on air with thier dad will be seen as a captured moment in time where family rules. Just as Chelsey introduced her mother, what better way than to have Barrack's children introduce him and show how important he is to them.

Posted by: Tonid | Aug 27, 2008 12:24:34 AM

Hillary's passion made me cry, and then I cried because I can't vote for her for President. So frustrating. What a shame Obama didn't make her his vice pres. nonimation. I think after tonight, everyone is going to think they got it wrong. Wouldn't it be wild if the deligates cast their votes for her. Now for my confession...I am 62 yrs. old and a long time republican that would have voted Democratic.

Posted by: Kathy Chesteen | Aug 27, 2008 12:25:56 AM

All I heard tonight was how the Democrats want to get more involved in my life. I will take of my own retirement, health care and education of my children. Get out of the way

Posted by: Dan | Aug 27, 2008 12:26:27 AM

We are in trouble if B.O. is elected. Hillary is still crying in her beer that she is'nt the "one". She was speaking to her supporters and trying to right the mess she created. Hillary, take your daughter and lying Bill and leave town a.s.a.p.please How about working for a living!

Posted by: Eugene Gowin | Aug 27, 2008 12:28:03 AM

As always, Hillary Clinton is a class act. How she could stand there & ask us to vote for the Democratic nominee, knowing he is not worthy to be Commander in Chief is beyond me. She has unbelievable strength. The Democratic Party Leadership made a big MISTAKE in forcing the "Super Delegates" to vote for Obama & the way votes were actually TAKEN BACK from Hillary & given to Obama is positively shameful. Has this tactic ever been done before? I don't think so.

Without Hillary supporters, there is no way Obama will win. I still can't bring myself to vote for him.

Posted by: Marie Gilliam | Aug 27, 2008 12:30:22 AM

Hillary Clinton gave the best speech tonight that I have ever heard. She was just wonderful and knows what of she speaks.

Posted by: Mary | Aug 27, 2008 12:34:18 AM

WOW!!!! Now that was a Speech!! Way to go Hillary!!! I am now ready to vote for the Democratic Nominee for President!!!!

VOTE OBAMA - BIDEN!!!!!!!!! We need a change in this country so that we can get back some of the good times of the 90's with President Clinton. Go Dems!!!

Posted by: rachel | Aug 27, 2008 12:34:18 AM

Oh some nasty people on this blog are spreading horrible lies.

I voted for Hillary in the primaries. She gave her best speech ever tonight; evoking the spirit of Harriet Tubman was glorious!

I'll be voting for the Democrat nominee this November, Barak Obama.

Democrats rule!

Posted by: Arlene Herring | Aug 27, 2008 12:40:47 AM

She did what she had to do.

Our local news said that only 280 some
delegate votes(282 or 288)separated Hillary and Barrack. That is a hard pill to
swallow no matter what. Any one who has played a team sport knows it is not the blow outs that hurt, it is the ones that you know on any other day you would have won, that sting. And unfortunately politics have be come a team sport more than about ideas. Could Hillary have won the nomination had some of the super delegates not switched sides so quickly? Personally i think she may well have. Could she win if she pushed it at the convention? Maybe, but she has chosen the good of the party and the desire to get the country out of the hands of the Republicans over an internal fight in the democratic party. I still wish Hillary was the candidate, but I too am
more concerned that we get our government out of the hands of the disingenuous, self-serving Republican Party. (Note I am not attacking personalities.) Now if I could wave a magic wand and make Hillary the candidate of course I would. Hillary is right. The fight to beat the Republicans has just begun. And if we don't work hard as a team, the Republicans will win.

Posted by: northstar | Aug 27, 2008 12:41:53 AM

People simply do not relize that the reason we didn't vote for Obama in the primary is the same reason we won't vote for him in the general. Sorry, being a "community organizer" is simply not qualified to be POTUS. Started running for Prez his FIRST year in Senate. 20 years in a racsist church is not qualifications to be Prez.

And I don't like his worshippers, too. They're kinda "nazi" type fanatical. Scares me some.

Posted by: Phil | Aug 27, 2008 12:44:47 AM

Hillary's speech tonight was an "A" plus. We have to support the Democratic party and get back into the White House in order to save our country. I know four years from now Hillary Clinton will be the President of the United States. You can bet on it!!!

Posted by: Jo T. | Aug 27, 2008 12:53:20 AM

I thought Hilary's speesch was great. I voted for her and was very undecided about who to vote for in November. I have decided on Obama after Hilary's speech tonight and Michelle's speech last night.

The following are ignorant names represent Racism, Ignorance and Missing the Point:
Bombem, Sluggo, Karen, Ladyshay, and MARIE GILLIAM.

If you really agree with Hillary, you will understand that the African-American community has embraced the Clinton's. Hillary is no longer in the race, so GET OVER IT! And George Shameolopoulous, how are you say Mr. Obama owe's Hillary. For what? We all can see you owe John McCain for something, because your comments were not well thought out. Stop showing your true colors. Now to the point, I think Hillary's speech was good. It may have lacked some compassion for Barack, but I still believe she meant well. This world needs unity not racism and ignorance. Think about Randy Pausch speech "The last Lecture". Try to take some of his views and understand that life is too short for this type of hatred. I know a great deal of you will not learn, but your views are not welcomed here.

Posted by: Lai | Aug 27, 2008 1:05:25 AM

I agree with Marie Gilliam 100%. As I watched Hillary speak tonight I was moved and could not help but think what a class act she is. I did support her and do support her and will probably write her in when I go to the polls. And my support has nothing to do with race...I wrote in Barbara Jordan twice in general elections. I am white; I am female; I am straight; I am 50...okay, 50+...and definitely an independent.

Posted by: Kay Courtney | Aug 27, 2008 1:05:42 AM

This is my first experience of responding online. I'm so surprised at the level of unkind comments about the candidates. Being a lifelong Democrat I accept most of their ideals. I would have been a Hillary suppoter but I couldn't stand 4 more years of hearing, reading, and listening to the jokes about Bill. He lost this election for Hillary years ago. She could have been the first woman president if he hadn't caused such embarrassment . I will never forgive Bill for what he did to the democratic party.
Barrack Obama seems to be an honorable person. He brings a lot of dignity to the campaign. I think Hillary's speech did a great job of making us realize we have to get rid of the Republicans in order to move forward in this country. She was funny and electrifying.
Something I dont think she did during her campaign. I can't believe that anyone could use race as a reason to vote against Obama. If you listen to him or his wife speak you have to know that they are just like anybody else and probably more intelligent and kind than most. I hope there will be a bumper sticker out soon.
No way..No How.. No McCain. I would put it on my car.

Posted by: Rhona | Aug 27, 2008 1:07:25 AM

Hillary was great tonight....But once again...promises promises and more promises......Whatever she said tonight was for her own benefit. I think she can't stomach Obama.
No matter what Hillary or the Kennedy's say about him or how high they place him on a pedestle the Bottom line is that Obama will fall off. He cannot fill the shoes of our President his feet are much too small. .
It's frightening to think Obama will be our next president and his wife the first lady. Get a grip people....It's all about change they say, yes, change for the very worst.

Posted by: Bruno | Aug 27, 2008 1:08:44 AM

George I have always liked and respected your views, but you really blew it tonight when you said that Hilary Clinton was a loser. I believe what you said was that was the best speach ever givin by a loser. She isn't a loser, I believe the American people are the losers here. We have two canidates, neither of which is available to fix what the Bush administration has done to this country. While I do believe that Barak coul be ready someday, today ISN"T that day. His choice for vice presidant is not only scarey it's irresponsible Sen. Biden is the defination of slippery slops, I'd trust my dog to stay out of the trash, more then I'd trust Sen Biden to do the RIGHT thing for the USA. I won't even get started on McCain cuz he just doesn't even have a chance and if he chooses Romney as his running mate then he can kiss Mass bye bye. In the end George you owe Mrs Clinton an apology. I lost alot of respect for you tonight and there are very few people in the media I respect. Charles Gibson and Daine Saywer I respect very much and hope that you will do the right thing.

Posted by: Joan | Aug 27, 2008 1:13:01 AM

Nothing to do with race? Then why mention it Kay Courtney. You know it does. That's why you said you agree with your team mate Marie. My previous comments are directed to you also.

Posted by: Lai | Aug 27, 2008 1:13:30 AM

I agree with J Keenan. The USA News Media is suppose to be biased, it is not. It promotes lies and hatred
among the America public. Keep it up,
and it will be the downfall of our government and country. We need to be on one accord and not divided. The fore fathers of this great nation when through a lot of trouble to leave a legacy of Democracy and Justice for all people. In fairness, Mr Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim. He stands for
CHANGE. We have got to change or be left behinded in the World. Progress is coming. Mr.Obama is the future. He is our HOPE...

Posted by: Linda | Aug 27, 2008 1:34:21 AM

GREAT SPEECH BY HILARY! SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE DEMOCRATIC. OBAMA WAS SO STUPID NOT TO PICK HILARY AS HIS RUNNING MATE.
I WILL PROBABLY NOT VOTE FOR EITHER THIS YEAR BECAUSE I DO NOT THINK WE HAVE A QUALIFIED PERSON RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME EVER THAT I WILL NOT VOTE. HE JUST DOESN'T HAVE THE QUALIFICATIONS

At the end of the day, we as democrats will vote for Obama. However, between now and November, he has to sell himself first whether he's worthy for our vote. We will never vote for McCain who represents the failed policies of the REpublicans. He represents failure in all aspect both domestic, foreign and the pocketbooks of the middle class. On the other hand, we want to address to Hillary haters from Kennedy's to the youth and the African Americans who accused the Clintons as racists, well that was the message: "Sock it to you" so you think you can win the Presidency without the other half. And to the media who referred to the Clintons as selfish family, sock it to you as well. Now you are the people praising her for being a great speaker.

Clinton gave a speech as good as any president. She showed she could get the job done...except for media attack hounds.

I love people who really don't have a clue, like this one: "If I were her I'D STICK IT RIGHT TO THAT MUSLIM IMPOSTER. BUT SHE WON'T. NO REAL GUTS. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO FDR, TRUMAN AND THE LIKE. LET ME TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED. YOU LIB'S GAVE INTO IDEALOGS AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY"! Typical right-winger who likes to lie..Obama is a Christan and always has been! Idealogs are the Fascist's on the right!

Hillary's brilliant speech will be long remembered. She would have made a great nominee. I voted for her. But Barak Obama is almost as good and is much better than any republican. I will be delighted if Obama is elected.

after tonight's speech, my wife finally agreed to vote for Obama along with me. I hope a lot of hillary hold outs will do the same. i gotta say i was impressed with clinton...i can see why so many of you supported her

All Americans should vote. As a Non-Muslim living in a peaceful Muslim nation we see the effects that your 'War on Terror' has caused. This election is not about religion, it’s about regaining your title as a country that gives the rest of the world hope. A few years ago you were the richest country in the world with your eyes firmly focused on the betterment of the entire human race. Times change, open your eyes and vote.

Obama was president of the Harvard Law Review. Hilary flunked the Wash. D.C. bar exam. I'll take brains over the bitch any day.

Look at all your comments. You people are such suck-ups to these people. Get a life. These people spend hours on those speaches before they get up on stage just so people like you can suck-up and vote for them. GET A LIFE!

Everyone who says Obama does not have qualifications or experience could you please state what specifically you mean by that? He wasn't a First Lady in the past? He wasn't a POW? Frankly, none of the previous Presidents been either. The only times someone with an experience runs for President is when someone runs for a second term (though Bush had 7.5 years of experience so far and is still not an expert). So what is it you mean or are you just repeating a line from some ad you saw? BTW, speaking of experience, how much experience Bill Gates had before starting his company and how well did he do?

Hillary today was great and she also made it crystal clear - "No way, No how, No McCain". If you ever supported her, please at least respect her opinion.

I have always voted Democratic straight ticket. This year i will make short and vote Republican straight ticket. Since it will take me less than five minutes to vote,I will be angry for a short time.

I think Hillary, Chelsea and Bill were a real class act tonight—and Michelle Obama looked like she was sucking a lemon. This did nothing to dispel her mean-spirited image, and it certainly rubbed me the wrong way.

If the DNC wants the Clinton supporters to swallow their medicine and step up to the plate, Obama and his crowd need to do their part too and be more gracious winners. Taking the time to address the grievances of the opposite side (in particular the sexism and misogyny displayed by the media—and by some members of his campaign), and showing some appreciation for Clinton and her supporters (not just trying to whip us in like recalcitrant dogs) would go a long way to salve some very raw feelings.

Were the shoe on the other foot, that is the least the Clinton campaign would have been expected to do.

Incredible speech. It wasn't for Obama supporters, though... it was for those of us who are Hillary supporters. Even with Hillary's speech reminding all of us that we must unite, I find the primary reason, I will begrudgingly vote for Obama is to put the Dems back into the White House. Obama has done nothing to attempt to win us over and I doubt he succeed in doing so, even on Thursday. I really think he's convinced the unity is what it's all about and the Dems will all come together. He needs to remember, that there are those who will not vote for him, simply because he's black, just as there are those who would never vote for Hillary because she's a woman. There are those who will vote for McCain and hope for the best – especially if he makes Liebermann his VP.

Nonetheless, I’d like to see some humility shown toward the people he needs to vote for him. I think he might be feeling a bit of his own hype and believing he’s the chosen when in fact, that’s not true.

George S's report card is the another example of the media's distorted self importance. First night he gave an F for the set: they have to create negatives wherever they can. Second: Nightline did not cover Michelle Obama's significant historical speech. Historical because it was given by an articulate African American wife of a Presidential candidate. That would have been too much of a positive spin. Finally what is wrong with you psycho Hillary voters? Read A Woman in Charge by Carl Bernstein about Hillary. Yes, she is great and important, but some of us Boomers did not vote for her because she is not a natural born strategist-smart yes, but she was not born with the natural street smarts and strategy savy that her husband was. You people who can't let go of Hillary are beyond psycho. You make up all these exuses of why you don't trust Barack or this or that and what it really is at the end of the day is RACISM-big time. But you don't have the guts to face it in yourselfs. Then there is the sickest bunch of haters who keep calling Obama a Muslim. You are the worst example of sicko hillybilly hater mentality. Our country is in bad shape because of all this hatred.

I am first an American; and I have voted Democratic for 55 years. I have seen the Democratic Party shoot itself in the foot previously. I have my choice; and I will not support Hillary or any other gullible phoneycrat who tries to sell me on his shallow record and wonderful speaking ability. Goodbye Democratic Party. I now vote for THE MAN and HIS CHARACTER!

Mrs. Clinton gave a beautiful speech tonight but I still want a tall, black, handsome man like Barrack to President. I just love him too pieces.

I am disappointed in George StephanoPOUlos and Charlie (of Good Morning America). You have really showed me your racist card. You have made it clear, you want Hillary to win. She hasn't, get over it. If Obama was white, would you have torn him apart with your comments like you have in this election. NO! Shame on the American people. Racism in still alive not only in the South, but America.

One of the commentators said, Obama owes Hillary big time. I differ that opinion. How many times do Blacks have to owe American. How many times do we have to bail a candidate out because they overspend.

I say to Black people, its time to speak up and let your vote be heard.

ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE...NOT JUST FOR US BUT FOR EVERYONE IN THE WORLD.

Undivided Nation In The world of DiversitY....UNITY

Hillary was outstanding!
I still think she is the better candidate!

Posted by: Vee | Aug 27, 2008 9:53:52 AM

Just wanted to clarify my mistake.
Our local station said that in the end
only 228 delegate votes separated Hillary and Barrack.

Considering how many deligates left
her when they thought they would not
be voting for a winner...
it was virtually a tie.

It could not have gotten much closer.

The Republicans got lucky, Gustav kept George Bush away from the convention. That was the one thing that they feared most, that he would show up and remind everyone what a catastrophe the last eight years have been for this country.
