Night Three Report Card: Grading Bill and Biden

August 27, 2008 11:45 PM

Tonight you heard President Bill Clinton say Senator Obama is "ready" to be commander-in-chief.  You also heard Obama's Vice Presidential nominee, Senator Joe Biden deliver a fiery rebuke of John McCain and the Bush administration. So what did you think about the speeches tonight?  Give us your grades below.

I thought future VP Joe Biden and former Pres. Clinton did an excellent job in their speeches. On the other hand, your reporting of the convention tonight would have been significantly enhanced if you had NOT announced, as you opened Nightline, that Barack Obama was parented by a black man and a white MAN!!!! Please slow down a little, get some sleep, and stop intoning, "It's a sign of the times" -- surely one of the most meaningless phrases uttered on TV since the technology's inception -- and it's had some competition.

What was that your reporter said. he's the son of a Black man from Kena and a white man from Kansas? WOW that is history!

George Stephanopoulus was obviously wearing his Democrat Party hat tonight when he graded the performances at the Democrat Party convention on night 3. The entire show, in my humble opinion, should be graded about a 3.5 overall. All one has to do is look at the actual performance of Bill Clinton to know that almost everything he said was a lie. The only thing that saved his presidency from total disgrace was the election of the Republican majorities in the house and senate. Joe Biden's speech had a lot more credibility and, even then, Joe is a typical lying politician and his speech was filled with BS and disloyalty toward his old friend John McCain. Democrats will throw over their own grandmothers to win an office. It is always the same with them.

When PRESIDENT OBAMA brings our troops home finally, I hope we these United States can enjoy a day of cellebration. All offices and business closed. Parades and parties like we have NEVER before seen. All supporters of our brave soldiers meeting them along the way bringing them all home to us once again. I pray this man can attain this position and make this happen. We as a nation need this NOW.

I disagree! You are being very biased and there are holes all over the place. You need to get your heads out of the Democrats rear-ends and actually listen to what is being said and not what you want to here. There is no way Obama/Biden will win the election. You need to check yourself at the door. You said the same things about Kerry/Edwards and you were left w/ egg on your face. I thought as a journalist, you are supposed to be unbiased. You will be loosing me as a viewer. Why don't you check with other networks, such as FOX, who stay in the middle of the road.

I thought both Hillary and Bill Clinton were absolutely great in making their speeches at the Democratic Convention. But the other night on Nightline a comment was made about Michelle Obama's speech as being great. I guess you did it to be kind because I thought she was acting, poorly at that, and every other phrase was,"well, you see." She has a lot to learn and has no finesse. I hope that that if she becomes the First Lady she will be better groomed.

All you have to do to determine what kind of president Clinton was is look at the shape of the country during his time with a republican congress and the shape with Bush AND a republican congress. No contest. And I remind you that the republican congress during Clinton's years had nothing on their mind but to find something, anything to discredit Clinton and not let him surpass Reagan's accomplishments. But, guess what, he did anyway.

Matthew Dowd said John F. Kennedy was
the first Catholic to be the presidential nominee from a major
party. That is incorrect. In 1928, Governor Alfred E. Smith of New York was the first Catholic to be nominated for president by a major party. JFK
was the first Catholic to be elected
president.

Wow!That was the most biased report card I have ever seen. When Obama hit the stage, about a hundred people were clapping & cheering. The rest of the convention had to be told who he was.Check your tape. Joe Biden was promting the responses of the audience like a second grade teacher with his rants.

Excellent...Outstanding...and...flawless moment of history...I applaud to the OBAMA's campaign for a job well done. To our former Bill Clinton...I truly believe he is a man of integrity who has the heart for the African American communities. For Joe Biden, now I respect the choice Senator Obama made. He is one of us...he understands the hardship of what single parent and family experiences. Both men gave an extraordinary speech and to top it off with love was Senator Barack who made a surprising appearance. I am so proud of this moment, thankful for God's grace upon us...This election year will be a new beginning of a lifetime that none of us will ever forget. As God would say, well done my faithful servants.

Conventions-democrat OR republican-
are a TV show........
Every 4 years the same old show....
One party attacks the other one,and
the problems U.S is facing are getting
worst.....
American people paying the price....
Politicians getting richer and the
citizens losing their homes,paying
high gas prices,losing their jobs,etc.
Do you really believe those politicians???????? I don't.....

I shudder to think where we would be or if we would be, had Mr. Clinton still been comander and chief at the time of nine-eleven. Our soldiers believe in what they are doing in Iraq - why can't we be supportive of their efforts instead of undoing what they have accomplished and many of them have died for. Do we not realize that our current President has had to operate the last years with this Democratic controlled Senate who, thus far, haven't done anything they said they would do under the direction of Pilosy.

I find it interesting that God is asked by these politians to bless America - yetthey don't want to follow His leadership.

Senator Bidden, of course is just blasting other politians, complaining but offering no real solutions.

If black people believes that Bill had their interest in his heart, their loyalty must be skin deep. They had the right to vote against Hillary, but they had no right to call label him a racist.

Since when is Obama Bin Biden a sign of americanism? unlike baseball, apple pie & Chevrolet. Truth is ... you dumbocrats believe Hussein will send lots of money your way and fix the economy if elected. Ridiculous! Dumbocrats also fail to understand the middle east needs to be somewhat stable or we will be paying $10/gallon gas.
McDaddyCain IS NOT AFRAID to use our military to keep us safe from terrorism.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Um is this the same FOX stationed owned by one of the biggest Republican contributors. What a joke. McCain called Obama an elitist. How can a half black half white man from a single white mother who went to public school be an elitist. Need we remind where McCain comes from? Third generation Navy man that never measured up to his Admiral patriarchy? This is not post WWII America, maybe if it was McCain might fit, but not in 2008. If you want more of the same; vote McCain.

bill clinton's speech in support of obama was masterful.

the political pundits can attempt to find fault, as some-those nasty folks at fox-did with hillary's ringing endorsement. but anyone watching what i've been watching on pbs really needs to marvel at how supportative the clintons have been.

many thought obama shouldn't let the clintons have so much face time. but they were wrong. obama was right to trust his instinct. it says alot about obama's way of turning a potential negative into a huge positive. it demonstrates to me another example of obama's leadership experience.

i think both hillary and bill are going to offer formidable assistance to obama's effort to win.

Thought the speeches were very powerful and fervently hope the new unity will succeed to bring us the changes we so desperately need. Barak and Joe and the rest of us could do with a good slogan. How about that old song from the 1930's -- Ain't We Got Fun? Part of the lyrics note that "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer..." what a great and simple way to describe 8 years of cowboy George, which would only get worse under carbon copy Big John. Take the lyrics and add "Let's take the country back!"

i always figure that if somebody (biden) has to work too hard to convince me that they are like me, they probably aren't.
bill on the other hand was well, bill, his speech was great and combined with hillary they may have saved the convention-and perhaps even obama from self destructing. they set the tone, the theme, and they rock.
