Nightline Hits the Road
October 17, 2008 11:09 AM
"Nightline" is hitting the road and heading for Route 66 as part of ABC News' "50 States in 50 Days." On Monday, Oct. 20, John Donvan travels to El Dorado, Kansas, the hometown of Sen. Barack Obama's grandfather. In January, Obama himself visited the town and held a campaign event there. Donvan talks with several voters in this historically red state about the democratic presidential candidate's visit to the small town and whether it's reason enough to vote for him.
On Tuesday, Donvan profiles the mayor of Muskogee, Oklahoma. At just 20 years old, John Tyler Hammons is the mayor of a city of 38,000 people. A Republican, Hammons shares his thoughts on this historic presidential election as well as his own remarkable story. Donvan also talks to Hammons about whether or not experience is necessary for an elected official these days.
On Wednesday, Donvan talks to an 82-year old woman in San Antonio,TX whose last name is "Maverick." But Terrelita Maverick is a staunch Democrat and tells Donvan why she takes issue with the GOP's use of the term. Considering her family's long history associated with liberalism and progressive ideals, Ms. Maverick explains why Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are not real "mavericks."
On Thursday, Brian Rooney explores the growing abuse of methamphetamine in southeastern New Mexico. Rooney rides with the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force on their daily rounds to witness first-hand the devastation and impact the drug is having on the community.
And on Friday, Jeffrey Kofman travels to Arizona where illegal immigration is an on-going hot button issue in the state. He talks to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, up for re-election this year, who has come under fire for charges of racial profiling and heavy-handed tactics used to round up illegal immigrants. Kofman also sits down with Arpaio's opponent in the race for re-election and the mayor of
Phoenixwho has asked the Department of Justice to investigate these claims of racial profiling.

Good For You(House of London). It is unbelievable, how the great progressive "Ideas" can be simply "stolen...", make it as (his Own), - turn around 180 degr.to the opposite, - and used aganst opponent as the attack...! I'm following the both Campains from beginning, and I know that majority good ideas claiming and proposing by Sen. Mc Cain are not from his head but in advance are comming from Sen.Obama and Sen.Hilary Clinton. This relates especialy everything mentioned about the Altern. Energy subject, the taxes, ect.....
I feel necessary to straight-up the truth, about the cause,of decreasing the terrorists activities in Bagdad....,
where the 35,000 of US army didn't have any part on it...The surge was comming after already the decrease of casualties. The real truth is described in detail report from California US Airbase, and is based on the report of cooperating(working with) Space Agency. The report was introduced in full here on internet in 2nd halve of September '08.
That's just for clarification of the alltime arguing about this subject...

Mr. Rooney, I have a suggestion. In addition to interviewing a long list of self-serving law enforcement officials who enjoy exercising power over the young, poor, and otherwise defenseless, breaking down doors, invading and ransacking homes, and terrorizing families, why don't you interview someone who will explain to you and your audience that adults who refuse to be told what they may eat, drink, smoke, or otherwise ingest are not criminals anymore than those who refuse to be told what they may read, write, think, or believe. According to Constitutional law and the natural laws of justice, adults who exercise their natural rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are not criminals no matter what any man-made law may say.
Drug fighters and illegalizers are criminals because they assault, rob, arrest, and even murder peaceful human beings. They are also terrorists because they target civilians.
The hundreds of millions of human beings on this planet who have been declared criminals by U.S. drug laws are no more inferior to drug fighters and illegalizers than alcohol consumers were inferior to the anti-freedom, criminal lunatics who supported alcohol prohibition. By the way, "meth" and "crack" are products of the war on "drug users" just like "bath tub gin" and "white lightning" were produced the the war against alcohol users.
Also, for your information, the people who founded this country were smugglers, gun owners, and tax resistors. The Founders did not recognize the authority of any government to interfere with honest trade, peaceful behavior, or the right to bear arms. Ultimately, they refused to be stopped and searched for guns and contraband. These facts are the origin of the Second and Fourth Amendments, the heart and soul of this Republic. Thus, drug fighters and illegalizers are traitors in addition to being violent criminals and terrorists. Please contact me. Freedom_First@verizon.net
