Closing Arguments: Obama's Madame Secretary?

November 15, 2008 12:05 AM

From bitter Democratic rival, to campaign ally, to...Madame Secretary?

So did he or didn't he? And will she or won't she?

The answer to the first question is yes, president-elect Barack Obama did discuss with Hillary Clinton the possibility of her serving in his administration as secretary of state. They met yesterday in Chicago.

Sources tell ABC News that it was a "very serious conversation," but no firm offer was made and there are other powerhouse names that are also uner consideration.

For now, her level of interest remains unclear.

So, tonight, we ask you: Do you think Hillary Clinton would the right pick for secretary of state?

Tell us what you think.

She's smart, she's savvy, she's diplomatic, she's loyal, and she deserves it.

I think Hilary would be an asset to Obama's cabinet and she deserves it.

Posted by: Jane | Nov 15, 2008 12:26:07 AM

Just plain NOOOOOOO!

Posted by: Nick | Nov 15, 2008 12:32:36 AM

She is more qualified than Richardson and Kerry.

Posted by: sn | Nov 15, 2008 12:34:38 AM

Yes Hillary should be Madame Secretary after all if it weren't for Hillary Obama would not be Mr. President

Posted by: candy savarese | Nov 15, 2008 12:35:27 AM

She's knowledgeable, competent and intelligent. Unfortunately, many people (mainly press and media) thought that she didn't have what it takes about foreign relations make fun of her for the kosovo/Bosnia-Herzegovina area incident. Because of that, I say give it to Governor Richardson and let him prove How much he learn while Ambassador to the UN. The Honrable Senator from New York should stay in the senate where she can help the formation, amendment and approval of new laws and economic and social policies to strenghthen the Nation.

Posted by: Edgar | Nov 15, 2008 12:36:15 AM

No. HR Clinton brings too much BAGGAGE to a Cabinet post -- namely WJ Clinton. In my opinion, we've seen their agenda and it isn't the CHANGE needed in the United States right now. Let's see her earn such a position on her own merits as a senator. Perhaps she could earn a senior committee position to demonstrate her readiness to take on more responsibility.

Posted by: dray | Nov 15, 2008 12:36:42 AM

No. She doesn't represent America. Wouldn't it be nice if he kept the one we have now. Our current Sec. of State is doing a fine job.

Posted by: Barbara | Nov 15, 2008 12:37:14 AM

Hillary is THE BEST choice!!

Posted by: Molly | Nov 15, 2008 12:40:29 AM

Where is the "CHANGE" of Obama's platform. He has hired most of the Clinton team. Change???? Change??? Yes for the worse.

Posted by: Rose | Nov 15, 2008 12:41:47 AM

Yes! Yes! Yes! Hillary (and Bill) is highly respected in many foreign countries. She is very intelligent, diplomatic, qualified, and a real asset. Two thumbs up!

Posted by: Ellen | Nov 15, 2008 12:43:44 AM

I believe she would complement President_Elect's Cabinent/Administration. She's qualified, experienced, dedicated to her party and knows protocol.

Posted by: Audrey | Nov 15, 2008 12:48:57 AM

Yes, She is the right person for the job. Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Thank you.

It is not that I don't beleive that Hillary Clinton would do a good job as Secretary of State, but rather that Bill Richardson, who has also been asked, might be a better qualified receptient of that post. Bill Richardson has a excellent track record as a negotiator during delicate dialogue with other heads of state and high ranking officials. And I still see Hillary Clinton serving Barrack Obama's presidency in a important and meaningfull capacity.

Posted by: Jeff in Fla | Nov 15, 2008 12:50:33 AM

Hillary Clinton would be a great Secretary of State!

She is strong and known on the international political scene. And Obama needs the best and brightest in each position of the cabinet, because there is so much to be fixed from the last eight years.

Posted by: J. Clayton | Nov 15, 2008 12:53:58 AM

Hillary would make a great Secretary
of State. I hope Obama doesn't make
another mistake - she sould have been
the VP

Posted by: BJHM | Nov 15, 2008 12:55:26 AM

Hillary definitely would be a perfect Secretary of State. She knows issues, people, and history involved throughout the world. She is tactful and tireless and a "team player" for the country. She's a diplomat, who would represent our country well. And during the debates, she made it clear that she believed that the President should not meet initially with some heads of state without first having someone of a "lower level" meet with that person. What better person than Hillary!

Posted by: Annie | Nov 15, 2008 12:58:05 AM

I am a Hilary supporter and a Obama voter and being Afro American very proud of both positions and I think with her savvy and party loyalty the Democratics she would be perfect for the position.

Posted by: patsy palmer | Nov 15, 2008 1:07:42 AM

Hillary would make a perfect Secretary of State. She's definitely qualified and experienced.

Posted by: Vickie in Georgia | Nov 15, 2008 1:09:05 AM

Yes, A Big Definate YES. She is, after all, on her way to the Presidency herself in the future :) and all her experience would be an asset to Obama. I understand why he picked Biden for his Vice President, his Foreign Policy experience. Now he needs to be just as smart and chose Hillar as Secretary of State. She is a good example of what a Woman President should look like, not a laughing stock such as Palin. Hillary sets a good example and a PROUD example for all women.

Posted by: Susan Tentomas | Nov 15, 2008 1:12:37 AM

I think Hillary would be a great Sec. of State.

Posted by: BarB from Utah | Nov 15, 2008 1:13:03 AM

Posted by: Bethany | Nov 15, 2008 1:13:24 AM

Like myself she is a 'Rebel with a cause' I believe she is qualified to be President. I believe she was more than qualified to be VP. She is Very qualified to be Secretary of State. Go Hillary!

Posted by: IamJamesDean | Nov 15, 2008 1:25:00 AM

Yes, I believe Hillary should be Obama's pick for Secretary of State. He should have picked her for his VP!!!

Posted by: Mae Cobb | Nov 15, 2008 1:34:34 AM

I agree that Hillary is the better choice and I pray she takes it!!! I know she will be excellent at the job. Hillary Clinton is a very smart woman....smarter then Sarah Paln any day!! Speaks very intelligently and knows her stuff!!!

Posted by: DianeBkht | Nov 15, 2008 1:43:43 AM

I have no idea why you guys think this is a 'big debate' .

Barack Obama cant tell Hillary Clinton to come all the way to Chicago to discuss the job and NOT offer it to her if she wants it. Thats ridiculous. She owns half the democratic party.

Getting behind Obama is one thing ,having Obama drag her all the way to chicago then slap her in the face is another.

Richardson is a back up offer. There is nobody besides President Clinton himself who would make a better Secretary of State for Obama than Hillary.

Obama has to deal with so much domestic crap and Biden has to deal with the cranks in his own senate to make sure they dont get to left wing on us all .

Clinton is the perfect choice to handle the foreign affairs.

Posted by: infoseeking | Nov 15, 2008 1:54:05 AM

right choice obama...hillary would be perfect...she has the leadership, experience and knowledge it would take to be the sec of state....hillary...hillary.....hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: carlasue | Nov 15, 2008 1:55:23 AM

yes, I believe that Senator Hilary would be the right choice for this office, as she possesses all the right qualities. She will certainly make a super secretary of state.

Posted by: rev Norbert | Nov 15, 2008 2:16:42 AM

It seems that the only time that politicians remember the wrongs, short comings, vices, and defects is when they are running for election.

Posted by: olin tucker | Nov 15, 2008 2:21:07 AM

we need the most progressive and dare i say, liberal, people... of course they need to have brains and be practical too.. but i wonder if clinton isn't a bit too centrist for the real changes that need to take place... i realize the ship is big and the rudder (however strongly voted for) is small, and it will take time for the ship to move in a different direction, but, hillary might be better used to help with health care

Posted by: earthisnotflat | Nov 15, 2008 2:28:00 AM

Hillary would be a sensational Secretary of State, much more qualified and preferable than Kerry or especially Richardson, who I personally don't trust. Hillary is extremely intelligent, experienced, personable and strong--I would love to see her actively involved in foreign affairs.

Posted by: Lalita | Nov 15, 2008 2:31:24 AM

NEVER thought I would say this about a Clinton:

She's LESS corrupt than all the other persons Mr. President-elect is appointing to his new cabinet! Just about every one of them so far, was involved in major corruption in their previous jobs! Yeah, right "change we an believe in".

He forgot to mention that he only meant he would leave us CHANGE in our paychecks, after all the deductions!

Posted by: Mike | Nov 15, 2008 3:02:01 AM

I think Hilary would have made a darn good president and since her and Obama are on the same side she should have been vice president and that would have been a great team but definately she would be an asset to Obama and should be the secretary of state

Posted by: richard | Nov 15, 2008 3:05:52 AM

Absolutely NOT! She's catty and self serving. She'd NOT make a good Secretary of State!

Posted by: Ron | Nov 15, 2008 3:13:23 AM

Yes! She would be a great Secretary of State

Posted by: Birgit Calhoun | Nov 15, 2008 3:16:56 AM

The question is misleading. Obama has already decided this. It's up to Hillary Clinton to accept. She has international clout and a husband who is still revered around the world. Furthermore, she's tough as nails. Great choice for a realist. Excellent choice for human rights advocates. Women would have no better voice than Hillary Clinton who has championed women's rights on the international stage. Her history with child advocacy would make her a great fit for issues that are largely missing from global concerns--child exploitation and organ trafficking. She would be bored going back to the Senate after showing everyone that she's a fierce debater and a congenial reconciler. She must accept the offer or regret the lost opportunity to make a significant contribution in this alternative way.

Posted by: NewOrganon | Nov 15, 2008 3:17:41 AM

Yes to Clinton. The reasons are well stated by everyone else. And on the person claiming she is "too centrist" that is good. The SecState is responsible for meeting with ambassaders and foreign heads of state and stuff. It needs to be someone able to be accepted by both conservative and liberal countries. She is also well known by these people and since foreign relations were relatively good during the Clinton years, I don't think her "baggage" is a problem either. What is better change than a female in ANY of the top 5 positions? A woman with a brain, that is, not Palin.

Posted by: Brandi | Nov 15, 2008 3:19:39 AM

Hillary is the exact correct person to become Sec. of State; and a part of the new inner circle.

Posted by: Minoo Minaei | Nov 15, 2008 3:19:49 AM

Absolutely not! Governor Richardson is a far superior person for the job. It isn't even comparably close. She doesn't have the foreign policy credential he does. His resume is boffo. Two term governor, UN Ambassador, Secretary of State, 14 years in Congress. Nominated 5 times for the noble peace prize. He still serves as a roving diplomat and globe trotting trouble shooter. He's negotiated with diplomats from Cuba, N. Korea, Iraq in securing the release of hostages, American servicemen, and political prisoners from Sudan. He even secured a fragile seize fire in Darfur. As you can see his credentials are exponentially greater than hers.

Posted by: Brian | Nov 15, 2008 3:20:45 AM

Hillary is bright - articulate - a very smart negotiator with great world stature - and would represent our country well - wonderful choice; she belongs in the inner circle of Obama's leadership. -- eek (my initials - not a state of mind)

Posted by: Earl Krygier | Nov 15, 2008 3:23:14 AM

The perfect choice!

Posted by: shelleyt | Nov 15, 2008 3:36:05 AM

There's no other First Family who's more respected Internationally but the
Clintons . No one's more qualified than Hillary bec of her tremendous knowledge of foreign affairs and bec of other few reasons , but what's everybody making a fuzz anyway . what's Sec of State, what's the big deal . I hope she turns it down Hillary deserves nothing less than Vice Presidency afterall she beat Obama by popularity votes but since election is over I'd rather see her as Senator .

Posted by: florence | Nov 15, 2008 3:42:57 AM

Yes, please. I think she would be an excellent Secretary of State. She already has worldwide recognition and respect. Go for it Hill!

Posted by: Cynthia Rhoads | Nov 15, 2008 3:55:42 AM

yes! yes, yes! Hillary is perfect for sec of state! She is intelligent, dedicated,a selfless team player & she deserves it! & by the way why the worry about Bill coming along as luggage? She can handle him very well especially at this age!

Posted by: rochelle | Nov 15, 2008 3:59:10 AM

Over 19 million Democrats voted against Hillary Clinton for President--in part because we strongly disagreed with her neoliberal positions on foreign policy and felt she lacked vision beyond health care.
Obama promised us the best qualified appointees for top Cabinet positions who would help him carry out his vision (which he ran on).
He kept his word with Joe Biden.
There are so many far 'more qualified' for Secretary of State than Senator Clinton.
This possible choice looks like Obama's first major mistake in a grandstanding, reconciliatory gesture that will offer endless, time-wasting Administrtive conflict.
It is also a betrayal of those who supported him when ran as the candidate of a 50-State Democratic Party over the Washington-based lobbyist group, the Democratic Leadership Council.
I feel completely let down. It is just the same old gang. Nothing has changed.

Posted by: susan | Nov 15, 2008 5:37:31 AM

I hope Mr. Obama does not turn his administration into an administration of appeasement. The world is very dangerious today. having said, I would thing that a very smart Man like President Elect Obama would appoint Experience people on both sides of the isles. I am just putting my two cents in because I wish him all the blessings. He is inheriting a though job in these challenging times. I would like to suggest the following personilities: General Wesley Clark Secretary of State, General Colin Powell, Secretary of Defense, General Norman Schwkoff,(the war Hero) as National Security Advisor, General David Petraus Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff, former secretary of Treasury Robert Rubin, as the New Treasury Secretary, Paul volker as the new fed Chairman. We need an administration with professional people rather than appointments of appeasement.

I contributed to Obama's campaign during the primary because I wanted a change. In particular, I didn't like Hillary Clinton's foreign policy stance.

This is not change. Obama will turning his back on many of those who were his most loyal supporters during the primary.

This is not change I can believe in.

Posted by: sueg48 | Nov 15, 2008 6:33:00 AM

I should add that I got an e-mail today from the remnants of the Hillary campaign (I have no idea how I got on the list) asking me to e-mail and make internet posts supporting HRC as Secretary of State.

Reading the above comments, I see the HRC campaign still in action.

I got no such e-mail from Obama supporters urging me to write in to write in expressing my disappoint with Obama's no-change appointments. But I assure you, we are out there are large numbers.

Posted by: sueg48 | Nov 15, 2008 6:39:16 AM

Hiliary will do what is best for this country either way.

Posted by: Yankee | Nov 15, 2008 6:41:44 AM

I am not sure..I want to believe she is a genuine politician and wouldn't do anything to derail his presidency...I think she would be great but I don't trust her too much from her action after Obama won the Primary election. If she has the country's best interest at heart, then she would be great for SOS.

Posted by: shar2008 | Nov 15, 2008 7:25:41 AM

No question about it- Clinton will be the next Secretary of State, but that's a big disappointment. After her gross exaggerations about making peace in N Ireland and dodging bullets in Bosnia, she is an embarrassment in some of the countries that matter. Besides, I don't buy the argument that she has so much foreign policy experience- attending teas for foreign dignitaries is not the same as having been involved in sensitive dialogue. Finally, she has the reputation of being something of a hawk, which is not what's called for right now. If this is a prize for her help on the campaign trail, I'm disappointed in Obama, too. Richardson seems a better choice to me.

Posted by: Richard | Nov 15, 2008 7:35:09 AM

NO WAY!!!!
Do we want to see her again? NO NO NO

Posted by: mimi | Nov 15, 2008 8:08:11 AM

NO NO NO--
Can we have real change with another Clinton?
Governor Richardson or Colin Powell would be superior choices.

Posted by: Emily | Nov 15, 2008 8:15:34 AM

Taking nothing away from Hillary as Secretary of State, I feel she would be better qualified as the person in charge of our broken health care system, a cause she has championed for years. Obama should consider reaching across the isle to a highly qualified person such as Colan Powell. You may say Colan Powell helped to get us in the Iraq war and yes you are right but I think he was duped by the Bush administration just like the rest of us. Unlike Sarah Palin, Hillary Clinton is a very intelligent person and would be a great asset to this country no matter what position she is offered in the Obama administration.

Posted by: LANNY EDWARDS | Nov 15, 2008 8:42:10 AM

Regardless of whether or not you personally like Hillary Clinton, the fact is she has greater name recognition abroad and is known to be a formidable coalition builder. Richardson garnered 1% of the vote during the Democratic contest. We need someone who can get significant support here and immediate cooperation from world leaders abroad. When I read that women won't support another woman, I wonder less about why their so marginalized. Men are obviously far from perfect. Nevertheless, this fact has never prevented women from rallying around their candidacy in droves.

Posted by: NewOrganon | Nov 15, 2008 8:53:17 AM

Powell is the best of all of them not her,not Kerry, Richardson welll maybe>>>>>>>>>>>>Leave her in the Senate she will do more good there....

Posted by: NH voter | Nov 15, 2008 9:00:04 AM

Hillary not only deserves it, she is the best pick for the job. And now that it's out there, Obama would be making a major blunder to not name her. Her supporters remain extremely loyal to her and could turn against Obama permanently were he to snub her. She would be an amazing Sec. of State.

Posted by: Cynthia | Nov 15, 2008 9:21:06 AM

Hillary should have been president. A lot of the Obamanation's supporters are already having buyer's remorse. Change we can't believe in. Hopefully he'll just be a bad memory in four years. Hillary '12.

Posted by: Anita Baker | Nov 15, 2008 9:26:16 AM

Hillary is great, but I think she needs to stay in the Senate. Teddy Kennedy, who I have huge respect for, may not be the lion of the Senate too much longer. Hillary needs to take up that role, and I think she can do it beautifully. I also would see her doing well as a Supreme Court Justice.

Posted by: dejune5678 | Nov 15, 2008 9:27:14 AM

How many times does ABC have to ask this question!?!?!?

It's none of anyone's business who he's going to pick as SoS.

And YES, Hillary would make a fine SoS.
She's extremely passionate, smart, and articulate. She's the greatest female politician we've ever had. And 18 million people voted for her!!!

Offering her the position of SoS is the LEAST thing Obama can do...

Posted by: DMK | Nov 15, 2008 9:28:04 AM

To the poster who said that "19 million Democrats voted against Hillary in the primaries"....by your logic, 19 million Democrats voted against Obama in the primaries as well. Obama supporters seem to forget that he won the nomination by the smallest of margins and that he would not be President elect right now had Hillary not rallied her supporters. He owes his election, in part, to her.

Posted by: Cathy | Nov 15, 2008 9:30:29 AM

Cathy said it best! Obama does owe his election, in part, to Hillary... She worked her heart out for him!

Posted by: DMK | Nov 15, 2008 9:35:34 AM

She's a smart woman and a dynamite speaker. As far as her points of view being not quite the same as Obama's, that can be worked out between the two of them.

Posted by: counting crows | Nov 15, 2008 10:11:43 AM

Don't do it, Hillary!

Hillary Clinton is an increasingly powerful senator, and she should remain where she is. Becoming an Obama puppet will NOT advance her political career; it would END it.

Don't do it, Hillary!

Posted by: Rhys | Nov 15, 2008 10:25:35 AM

Would she be good there, YES, should she go there, NO. Clinton can be a gigantic force in the Senate or she could just be another use-to-be after SOS. Don't do it Hillary.

Posted by: JR | Nov 15, 2008 10:48:48 AM

wow, i hate the democratic party. im soooo sick of these people already, its going to be a rough 4 years...

Posted by: tim | Nov 15, 2008 11:00:59 AM

no, HRC should not align herself with the hate filled racist and misogynistic BHO

Posted by: trettione | Nov 15, 2008 11:03:07 AM

No. Hillary don't do it. Obama would do what he does and find some reason to fire her. Then, she'd be out of office and out of a job. Hillary: DON'T DO IT!

Posted by: Kitty | Nov 15, 2008 11:06:59 AM

Obama has to make sure he won't get a "buy one, get two" deal: No Bill Clinton.

Posted by: teddymaniac | Nov 15, 2008 11:16:41 AM

Kitty, I see your point about Hillary being at risk for termintion by Obama if she takes the SOS job. One thought, though. If she is doing a good job as SOS (which, of course, she will) and Obama fires her, people will be so outraged they just might vote him out after 4 years and nominate hr in 2012 instead. Her supporters are still fiercely loyal and there's 18 million of them. He can't afford to mess round with that.

Posted by: carl | Nov 15, 2008 11:19:19 AM

Here's the deal. Yes, Clinton would be a shining light as the Secretary of State, and it would be historic, the first time that a first lady goes on to be a member of a presidential cabinet, and a fittingly high post for her. She would be better at Secretary of State than Condoleeza Rice, who helped drag down the U.S. with the rest of the Bush administration. The problem is that she would outshine Obama, and Obama is all about all things Obama. I voted for Obama but I don't trust him. Be wary Hillary.

in the state we are in now...

there is no person who will put the US in a better negotiating place on behalf of Obama than Clinton

and anyone knows I was not a Clinton fan during the primaries

there is far far far too much at stake for the world in this next 4 years and again...if they don't succeed do all of you morons saying the next few years will suck understand what that means?

stupid is as stupid does...

this team HAS to work.

the option of failure...means most likely ...all encompassing failure of a species... do you all get that... because you need to start.

they all live here...

do you all understand what is at stake

because your comments are that of people that don't...

if they fail as a team...

we all fail... in a way that the world has never seen.

they either succeed as a team...or we all may fail as a species.

and Hillary Obama Mccain Richardson Graham Kennedy Kennedy Kennedy Bill Michelle and all the others who may end up being part of this team...

are smart enough to know that.

I think we can all see who voted for Sen. McCain, and just can't get over it.

Anyone who has read books written and written about Hillary would know how smart and save she is. I was disappointed that I could not vote for her. She was first after Bill to make his administration so successful. I would have been upset if Obama did not put her in his cabinet as SOS or Health, education and welfare secretary.
Our children need her!!!!!

Anyone that has bad things to say about her are women haters, democrat haters, or just plain ignorant!!!! Get informed and then make a comment, PLEASE

Yes, I think that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is both a smart and necessary choice for the US Secretary of State Position. She is very much trusted and respected throughout the world. Outside of the United State I think that the female leaders and also female citizens se her as something and someone they can aspire to. Competency and knowledge in foreign affairs is no more important than it has now become. I think that Mrs. Clinton has always made it her top priority to be fully and properly informed and current on foreign affairs, crises, and development. I also see her generate enthusiasm and involvement in these national and international developments. This is because she will foster individual and collective participation rather than dictate the course of foreign policy as President George W. Bush has done for the past eight years.

After all the outcome of Election some individual cannot/don't want to accept Hillary as the right candidate for the said position. My question to all of you since i voted for Obama too, who do you think is the most qualified candidate and well known ,smart individual other than Sen.hillary.
You got to remember, Sen.Clinton is not representing her agenda but the whole USA and Obama administration and she is well known and respected by other Foreign President and Gov't official for being firm to her word.

I didn't, and wouldn't, vote for HRC for President only because she's still married to WJC, but I can honestly say that she would be perfect as a Secretary of State. She has the credentials to be excellent in the job and would be extraordinarily good at it.

If I were her, though, I would not accept anything less than that important job.

A definite YES. Hillary is very well respected for her hard work in the Senate (as Obama is not - because he did not) -- even by Republican senators who were extremely hostile to the Clintons. If she can work with THEM, she can work with anyone. She obviously knows how to be diplomatic -- also evidenced by her gracious support of Obama. She put her country and the Democratic party first, and worked very hard for the win that he took all the credit for. She has visited 80 countries, knows a huge number of world leaders, and the Clintons were widely respected during his presidency and still are. She also has excellent advisors. Remember that she had 25 former generals backing her -- she can seek their advice in military situations.

She still retains her millions of supporters. I gave $300 to her campaign, even though I have very little extra money to spend. It was the first time I ever donated to a political campaign. I have heard white Republican men on the evening news saying they would have voted for Hillary over John McCain, because they felt she wanted to put the country back on track and solve many of the problems facing the American public. I don't think she was running for personal glory or ego.

Most definately, Hillary would be the best choice. I can't believe how closed minded people are that they would not want what we had 8 years ago. I had more money, people around me had more money, and the country was actually in the black. No wonder the other countries think we are idiots. Clinton's years were the best.

Hillary as America's face to the world? Fabulous.

No to Clinton,
Bill Richardson is more qualified. We don't want to put someone in a position that someone else is more qualified for.
We are not Republicans.
Bill Richardson would make the best Secretary of State.

YES! Hilary Clinton has earned it and the U.S. would be lucky to get her as Secretary of State.

NO ! We've had enough Clinton's in the administration. How about some CHANGE?

Hillary as America's face to the world? FRIGHTENING !!

I like Yvette's comment: I have nothing against Sen. Clinton serving in some capacity, but Gov. Richardson is best qualified for Sec. of State, and he is by far and away my top pick! I would be sorely disappointed if Obama passed over this obvious choice.

One more thing: Ralph Nader to head
OSHA or the EPA! Now that's REAL change. I hope Pres. Obama balances his center and right leaning appointments with some choices that validate his promise of change. Those of us on the left who were the first to support him will otherwise be deeply disenchanted.

NO NO NO she should be out of politics altogether - I feel any connection to "the" Clinton's is a negative - if she wanted to be in the political arena of any kind in our country she should have left Bill -WHAT TYPE OF A WOMAN STAYS IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP? SHE DOES NOT REPRESENT A SMART - STABLE WOMAN. She is not an honest person by any means. No No No

Consider this scenario: HRC is offered and accepts Sec o State. 2011 rolls around and she has to resign that position and run against her boss. Obama knows what he's d
