President Barack Obama, known for basketball acumen rather than baseball, kicks and delivers at opening day of the Washington Nationals season.
He did so after revealing a hometown Chicago White Sox cap. The moment marked 100 years of the presidential first-pitch tradition.
This time, the arcing the pitch soared well high and outside -- perhaps averting the ridicule he received at last year's All-Star game, in which St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols saved the president from an embarrassing short hop.
"I was a little disappointed by the pitch," Obama told announcers afterward. "It was a little high and outside. I was intentionally walking the guy."
The All-Star game pitch is embedded below. Will embed today's pitch once the video is processed.
