According to the Chicago-based non-profit Mercy For Animals , which advocates a vegan diet in the name of farm animal protection, the footage was taken at Conklin Dairy Farms in Plain City, Ohio, during a recent month-long, hidden-camera investigation.
A warning, the video embedded below is graphic in nature and was produced by Mercy For Animals. Animals are shown being stomped, beaten with a tire iron, and jabbed with a pitchfork. The group is pushing for criminal prosecution of the workers featured in the violent film.
Conklin Dairy Farms has not yet made a statement about the video, according to the AP . That probably won't last long.
Brian Ross and the investigative unit worked with Mercy For Animals in January on an investigation into animal abuses at a large New York dairy farm.
In that case, the investigation focused more on controversial industry practices -- such as how cows are dehorned, pictured above, and tail-docking. An employee caught on tape striking a cow was eventually suspended.
This previous blog on the topic remains an active comment thread filled with outrage but also several reminders from those in the agriculture community of the old adage, "one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch."
