I have no time for the idiot Kerry. You can take him and Jane Fonda and put them on a boat to Vietnam.

This is about the John Kerry remark. I'm sure he did not mean it the way selected people have chosen to regard it. I know I didn't. However, Dems, true to their ignorance, have decided to handle it wrong. Kerry should stay on campain trail evey day. He should open every speech and keep it in front of people himself. This way he can engineer the direction he takes it. By removing himself and comment from the air he is allowing the Bush press to engineer the comment. MJ. in Denver

And the Republican approach, at least according to the President, is that the terrorists lose and America wins if we "stay the course" (or whatever the phrase du jour is) while we've placed our troops in the midst of a civil war in a country whose central "government" is incapable, incompetent, and/or unable to reach a consensus as to what they're going to have for lunch, much less any more significant issue? If that is how this President defines "winning," then he can have it all! Once yet again, the President clearly shows how he just doesn't "get" it.

As for the attack ads, the Dems' ad of the day seemed to be more of the typical ad hominem attack--however nasty--of which we've seen so many this campaign season. Such an attack ad loses its effectiveness when people not in its intended audience (like me) are not acquainted with either of the two candidates involved.

However, far more effective is the Repubs' attack ad you linked to. I found it to be no less than extremely disturbing, eminently perplexing, highly astounding, and quite infuriating! I wasn't so much taken aback at the inept attempts to portray the Repubs as the long-standing advocates of African-Americans, nor was I made very uncomfortable by the irresponsible way the ad was trying to rewrite history. No, what truly offended me was discovering that there exists a magazine called "The Black Republican!" It must have the world's smallest number of readers!
