Kerry Response

October 31, 2006 12:00 PM

So, Senator Kerry says my initial interpretation (and seemingly some of the audience's interpretation) of his comments in Pasadena was dead wrong.

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy," he says. "This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did."

White House press secretary Tony Snow this morning said Kerry needed to apologize to troops for his comments (see below blog entry).

To which the losing 2004 presidential candidate said: "I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have."

Thoughts?

Come on! Most of the troops are NOT college graduates. And if they are, they certainly aren't on the fighting front. Now I am not bashing the troops. Nor am I calling them stupid. People choose different paths in life and to each his own. But, sorry to say...it is the truth. Some of my friends went to college, others went to the military. Usually not both.

I don't care what the republicans say, think, or do at this point. I don't trust them and it scares me that they can take a comment out of context and convince all these people that they now, after all the mistakes they have made, are the good guys. Come on how gullible do you guys think we are??? You have lied to us for the last time, I'm going democratic and I'm not alone. THE PEOPLE WILL SPEAK AND WE'LL SEE WHO IS LEFT STANDING!!!

Any reasonably educated person know's that Kerry was talking about the idiot in the White House. However if any one cares to make a trip to your local Army recruting office you might be surprised to see literature that says "Join the Army and see the world while getting an education". No one in their right mind would volinteer to go to Iraq to fight and die for the lies told by Bush and his administration.

I am an infantry combat veteran which apparently gives me the credentials to speak of war. Kerry stated on his web sight during the presidential election that looking at Vietnamese frightened him and recounted a firefight during which he cowered behind cover until the fighting was over. His accounting does not sound like war hero material to me. As for bashing troops we need to think in terms of patterns of behavior. This is a continuation of well documented disdain for the military. On the website previosly mentioned he recounted his disdain for his commanders during his time in Vietnam.
As for the recent comment, as spoken there is no way to interpret it any other way than stating that the uneducated go to war. He is again recounting the Vietnam era situation with the draft. This was a constant theme then.
If he was referring to the President it is still beyond the bounds of civility to make such a disparaging remark that he refers to as the truth. As others have noted the President holds fairly impressive academic credentials. Kerry was one of many Democrats that supported the war while it was popular but lacks the fortitude have our country stand our ground. He is again stating his disdain for military command in the person of the Commander in Chief.

I would just like to say that I find John Kerry a dispecable American who has been a trouble maker all his life! He has spent his life insulting our government and our young American soldiers who put the most precious thing they own " their lives" on the line everyday for his sorry butt! He boasts about being an American hero and served his country, frankly I am tired of his BS and he should be thankful that he lives here because in another country he might be tried for treason!!!
What is wrong with the Decocratic party anyway, are they all pot heads or what? They are so out of touch with Americans and the beliefs and values this country was founded on! I once was proud to be called a democrat when Kennedy was in office, not anymore! It seems anything to lower the moral fiber of this country they are for it! I hope my spelling is correct, I don't want to labeled as another ignorant American! The only advise I can give Kerry is, you have the money, the looks and connections in Washington to be successful but you screw it all up when you open your mouth, so KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!
Thanks DW Senter

Kerry has maligned the military before. After he returned from Viet Nam, the long haired wonder called our troops in Viet Nam "baby killers" and "butchers". So much for his statement yesterday that a military man would never say bad things about the troops. He has done it before, and in an unguarded moment, he will once again blurt out his real feelings. Thank God, and I do, that Kerry has again shown what he really believes. Wake up, Massachusetts, voters, and get rid of your unconvicted murderer and the gigolo. Replace them with qualified people who can and will do what is best for the USA.

My family has served this country as far back as WW1. To have Kerry say what he did was wrong!!!!!
He has the right to do or say anything he likes.
This is because of the Men and wemen fight for that right. If he wants to say that These people are dumb then he needs to move to Irqa. He isn't the suppot that this country needs.
Move to Irqa Kerry. That is were you belong on the other side of the line.
You have lost my VOTE.

Response to Mike's comments above. You may not need someone fight your "batles" (sic) and you may not be afraid of terrorist but Whether you want it or not there is a brave man or woman keeping you safe at night standing between you and and an Islamic terrorist . These terrorist hate you regardless of your political party or how unafraid you are and would love nothing more than to cut your head off on prime time TV. This same terrorist takes no thought in detonating a car bomb in a crowded market killing women and children, NOT U.S. soldiers. They enjoy entering a hospital full of wounded and dragging them into the street along with the doctors shooting them in the head. These things I have seen first hand, how about you Mike. Mike you run your arrogant mouth now and for good reason. You really have no need to be afraid of any of those terrorist because your right to free speech is well protected by the U.S. military, not John Kerry and certainly not defended by you. Let's see how brave and outspoken you would be if the Taliban or Saddam was running this country. Before that would happen though, me and alot of other military men and women would give up our own lives to defend YOUR right to be unafraid and have the freedom to run your mouth allowing yourself to prove what a complete idiot you really are.

Kerry seems to epitomize the leftist view of the military, which is that dumb grunts comprise little more than expendable cannon fodder. This harkens back to the vietnam days and deliberately plays on the public belief (thanks to TV etc.) of losing vietnam and young people being shot up.

The problems with this are many. First, the modern military doesn't really quite have cannon fodder in the old sense; the military is poorly served with untrained and stupid troops.

Second, despite the public's certain knowledge that vietnam was lost (and to insurgents!) the war was actually won and over in the 1972/3 timeframe and was subsequently "lost" only when the US congress failed to support the south in 1975 monetarily or otherwise and the south was overrun.

Third, Kerry was deliberately invoking a distorted image about how the military operates (it requires professionals, not bodies) and about recent US history (the US always wins military campaigns no matter how many times Oliver Stone says otherwise) and playing into the preceonceived notions held by indoctrinated students. In so doing, he deliberately belittled the military establishment, the soldiers, and essentially has spat on the United States for his own gain. What a guy.

Sen. Kerry has responded to criticism of his comments regarding the intellect of U.S. service members in which is states, "“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy," I hope I am not the only one to realize that this is the same dirt bag that went before congress and the American people claiming U.S. service members serving in Vietnam were murderers and rapists. If anyone thinks Sen. Kerry would NOT make such claims would have to be crazy to believe this pathetic self absorbed liar. As a member of the military who just served in Iraq, I saw first hand the good and the bad. It is not the President or U.S. policy that is the problem. It is subhuman men who have no regard for life or liberty who would rather kill innocent women and children in a hospital or market than allow them to live in a free Iraq. You spineless perverted lying libs go over to Iraq and look into the face of a little Iraqi girl with half of her face blown off and tell her its President Bush's fault that this has happened to her and not some worthless piece of excrement Islamic pig. By the way, I am an enlisted college graduate (3.94 GPA) working for a major airline (not a pilot) making in excess of $100K that went back into the National Guard after 9/11 after serving 12 years on active duty because it made me mad as hell what these Islamic terrorists did and with 6 children and 5 grandchildren I have something precious to fight for and defend. Regardless of the fact that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq (chemical weaponons and weapons materials) our reasons for being there are righteous and just. Al Qaeda is in Iraq and has been there all along. Enjoy the peace and freedom you have today only because of a soldier not because of Sen. Kerry or any other politician.

Thanks to GOD that this narcissitic jerk did not become our President.

John Kerry is beneath contempt. I'm so happy that the GOP base gets one more Sunday to fire up the base where it counts.

Lurch strikes again. Democrats must be furious. Next time you seen John Kerry, ask him - Why the long face?

Posted by: Billy | Oct 31, 2006 11:44:27 PM

Kerry's at it again! He put his silver foot right in his mouth. He said what he meant and he meant what he said. His 90 days and three scratches in VietNam seem to qualify him as a hero. He lied then and he lies now. Johnnie, I served for 25 years and not 90 days. Does that make me more of a politician and military supporter than you? Let's see. He uses a questionable military record to gain public office and marries a rich heiress to live the good life. If it weren't for his lies and stupid remarks, he'd really be doing good. John Kerry does not support the military and never has - even when he wore the uniform.

Posted by: George | Oct 31, 2006 11:39:58 PM

I agree with the Democratic congressman. Kerry doesn't feel losing 2004 was enough. He wants the Dems to lose 2006 (or at least wants to keep the spotlight on himself). I welcome it when he raves against a press secretary and calls a radio talk show host fat.

Posted by: Jacob_Virginia | Oct 31, 2006 11:36:20 PM

John kerry must think that all of us who did not attend college are as stupid as he is. He says that republicans are affraid to debate a real man.I take him up on that challenge. As a father of two sons serving this country as an 82nd airbourne trooper and a U.S.A.F. security defense forces soldier I invite him to show up on my doorstep and tell me to my face that my sons joined the military because their ignorant.

Posted by: mike | Oct 31, 2006 10:57:52 PM

For all of those military people who keep bragging about their service, I for one don't need you to fight my battles, If you want to fight a George Bush war, by all means go ahead. I would rather have you stay here in America and be with your families. I'm not affraid of terroist from overseas because terrorism can happen anywhere, like Oaklahoma. You have the best technology, the best armor, the best weapons, how much more support do you want? If name calling hurts some of you military people, then you shouldn't be in the military. You should be on the Dr Phill show, crying about your feelings. Again, I don't need you to fight my batles, I can fight my own!

Posted by: Steve | Oct 31, 2006 10:52:15 PM

Let's see...George Allen and "Macacca" got about a month's coverage in the press; Trent Lott was hounded out of office; any Republican that says a stupid thing is never allowed to live it down, apology or none. But Dems? They're teflon in the press. Let's see if this goes for more than a couple days.

As a member of the US Navy with over twenty years service as both an enlisted man and an officer, I find Senator Kerry's comments beneath contempt. His attempt to blame his disgraceful conduct on "Republican hacks" and his efforts to exclude those who "who never can be found to serve in war" from the public exchange of ideas are equally loathsome. He touts his questionable military service for political gain and disparages the rest of us who honorably serve with his despicable aspersions. Whether through his unsubstantiated accusations of our troops being "war criminals" during Viet Nam, his false bravado about supporting our troops while voting against funding for them, or his false claims of our troops going "into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women," Senator Kerry has consistently demonstrated his contempt for those who serve in the military. Methinks the Senator protests entirely too much about "liars." He ought to look into the mirror first.

Kerry is such an idiot. How catchup boy thought he could convince us that this was a joke aimed at President Bush is beyond rational thought!!? We are very lucky this empty suit lost the election, but in all honesty, without being married to catchup woman, he never wins the nomination (and thank god I don't have to hear more soundbites from the witch). Kerry was, is, and always will be a loser in the mold of Ted Kennedy.

Hey, I am one of those conservatives who was reluctant to vote. Now, finally, I'm mad enough at the liberals to go out and vote - and convince as many as I can to go with me to the polls. Liberals who think like Kerry should not be allowed to rule this country.
