The Sound of Silence

April 20, 2007 4:10 PM

Where did it go?

In 1989, a schoolyard killing was followed by a ban on military-style assault weapons.  President Clinton called for gun control after Columbine a decade later.

Today…nada.

We took a look at this on Good Morning America. (FREE VIDEO HERE).

In other news, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and MoveOn.org are GETTING INTO A TUSSLE about McCain's venture into Weird Al Yankovic territory.

And on Nightline last night…the folks who hear about the worst school shooting in U.S. history and immediately try to think about how to make money off of it. READ ABOUT IT HERE.

Chuck, I've seen you on to posts now. In those two you seem to agree with anything that the Democratic Liberals want to force as "Truth".

What more gun laws can stop "Massacres". Although these guns were obtained with the parameters of Virginias laws, most are obtained illegally. You know what could have prevented this tradegy? People listening when he was identified as a threat to himself and others. But liberals always want to say the criminals are misunderstood or some such BS. Stop trying to blame the guns and blame the people. Stop turning the criminals back on the streets and prosecute them. We worry about the punishment being humane, ask those 32 persons in Virginia about the the shooters humanity. Ask the 12 year old girl who was raped and murdered by some pedophile who was on parole for the third time because some bleeding liberal thought he was "Misunderstood" about the compassion and humanity she recieved. But you better ask loud, its a long way from where you are to the next life.

Some of those that died in Virginia could have been saved if even some of the professors were armed and trained. And taking away the access to the guns would have stooped nothing. The guy had it all planned out, he would have found other methods, it's not hard to make improvised explosives by going to the grocery store. Then there would have been 320 dead.

Unarmed means unprotected, every criminals dream..

The silence is indeed deafening. Has the pro-gun lobby cowed lawmakers to such a great extent that they're afraid of taking ANY gun-control position? It seems our legislators have spines as stiff as cooked spaghetti when it comes to any kind of rational gun laws, despite the fact that an overwhelming majority of people want something--anything--to prevent future massacres. No wonder the US is the laughingstock of the world when it comes to guns.
