Kos v O'Reilly

July 20, 2007 5:18 PM

I've been watching this fight out of the corner of my eye, from up here in the cramped ABC News Senate booth on Capitol Hill.

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly has all but declared war against the DailyKos website, writing (LINK) about a "vicious far-left web site called the DailyKos, one of the worst examples of hatred America has to offer."

O'Reilly also said of some of the postings on DailyKos: "this is hate of the worst order. It's like the Ku Klux Klan. It's like the Nazi party. There's no difference here. People should die."

Today came news that O'Reilly's push against airline JetBlue for sponsoring the YearlyKos convention worked -- and the company dropped its official sponsorship of Kos's yearly blogger convention.

YearlyKos will be addressed this year House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and DNC Chairman Howard Dean, as well as Democratic presidential candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

And loads of others.

Writes Kos (LINK): "Anyone who tries to claim this is a 'hate' gathering is saying, essentially, that the entire Democratic Party is a 'hate' party. And sure, there are plenty of rabid crazies on the other side that would make such a claim, but no reasonable person will think that. And that's the key -- anyone who claims this event is anything but a celebration of the best the Democratic Party has to offer is simply, to put it mildly, blinded by partisan rage and completely out-of-touch with reality."

The Dodd campaign (LINK) and others have used the opportunity to beef up their netroots cred by slamming O'Reilly.

So what do you guys think? Connect to the links above and read up and come back and share your thoughts...

The Kos site is a WAY OUT THERE socalist web site that will never agree on just the facts or have a decent or FAIR discussion on anything social or political. They are one influence on the POOR performance of Democrats in Congress along with their Socalist supporters and billionaire George Soros.
Couldn't expect any thing but UN-truths and HATE !!

chuck - Hey you just complimented Bill, Ann Coutler is great.

I Love how when you do not agree with a lib it is hate spewing. also love when a lib says something that is ok, but a Conservative says the same thing it is hate. Ann proved this.

You got to love the hypocrisy from the left.

If someone speaks the truth they are a right-wing nut. So Libs must always lie!! They say agree with this.

Jock - Well first the item being talked about was put there by the moderator/author, so your point since it only seems libs go toit, then they all must be full of hate.

DailyKos and other major blogs are open sites. That is, anybody can register and make comments. Therefore, ALL such sites will have hateful comments made by hateful people. If you haven't seen hateful comments on right-wing sites, you haven't looked very hard. The more active "leaders" at DailyKos try to down-rate the worst comments, but in the interests of free speech they lat most of them go.

Bill, Hates, sexual predators, yet he has been exsposed as one, by a female co-host, late night phone sex. Was never charged, but paid millions to keep it quiet. Spin? Fair and balanced? how can it be if you never get to hear the other side on the O`really show. Nut job, pin head coolaid drinkers. Ulcer rated Billy O`Really.

WBH - First we are not a Liberal Society, so I think you should read the Constitution. I know you libs want to turn us to a socialistic country. but we are not.

Scary, People that fall for propaganda to ignore history and the truth are bound to repeat it.

HEHE! I find it funny the people supporting this blog are name calling and using hate, but yet say the blog is not hate spewing. Hypocrisy.

Yes there are few hate spews from so called right winged sites, but they pale in numbers that the left has.

And yes the Democrats/Libs are hate spewing mongers always using the race card and so forth. Was it not the Dem/Libs in Maryland that threw Oreo cookies at Michael Steele.

Now I am not a great supporter of Bill, but 'DaveM ' what has he spun incorrectly? Show facts please!

Bill O'Reilly is the male version of Ann Coulter, calling attention to himself to hype himself. That anyone takes him seriously and pays the slightest bit of attention to him speaks volumes about that person.

Have you ever read DailyKos? Take a look at the comments after the story of jetBlue pulling their support for the YearlyKos convention.

Now compare the comments to the comments at right wing sites like Michele Malkin or Hugh Hewitt. Note the vulgarity and hate in the DailyKos site, while the right wing sites are mad about JB's suppor, but not foul-mouthed, hateful, or mean.

You will find this difference in other sites. Check out Pandagon, Amanda Marcotte's site. John Edwards hired her for his campaign website and had to let her go because of her anti religious, vile writings.

Bill O'Reilly is right about Daily Kos that it is a "hate" site. You need read it before you comment on the issue..

It's pretty obvious the kos people have gang-tackled this blog.

In my opinion O'Reilly exaggerates to compare dailykos to nazis and kkkers. But the hatred that can be found on this site - and other hard-left sites is jaw-dropping.

I have not seen anything like it on the hard right sites.

Bill O'Reilly is always at 'war" with someone. He is an entertainer - well, almost one. I'm not sure who he represents in this country, but I'm assuming it must be that tiny minority of vocal hypocrites called "neo-conservatives" who long ago sacrificed their critical thinking skills for that feel-good warmth of open hatred.

Since JetBlue broadcasts Faux News on its airline, one could argue they were making a political statement by promoting the Republican party's broadcast network and imposing it on their paying customers. Of course, this didn't show up in this story, which is no surprise for ABC News. Of course, ABC wasn't going to look back at the many hate statements and "news" accounts promoted by O'Reilly.

I suspect this action will cost JetBlue a lot of revenue.

Sorry charley this guy get it right. Democracy requires defending not sitting back and getting a head full of cocaine. The hatred of the dailykos by saying it is al right for Iran to destroy Israel was the same idea that lead Hilter to kill theJews since nobody cared. Where do they dtand on Danfur and what are they doing about it. The same with Hillary girl or Pelosi; coming here to get some far far leftist votes shows me these people are not to be voted into office. Let all these type of hatred far left or right vanish

To all the intelligent and good people out there, don't let O'Reilly and sheeple like him draw you in to their trap. They are allowed to do what they do to try and split good americans apart, because in unity there is power and right now they are afraid they are losing their so called power. The internet has allowed people to learn other opinions and facts other than what they spoon feed you. The tyrants are afraid the public will rear the ugly head of the giant and demand justice and freedom from tyranny. So lets stick together for our own good.

just reading your comments on both sides is proof that none of you look at any thing based on the truth and facts. This is because you only spout what the media and the party hacks deliver. When was the las time you got off your butts and studied an issue and it's history before opening your mouth and inserting your foot.

Bill O'Reilly is an ignorant fool. He proves that every night that he is on. He punctuated that point when he made the mistake of agreeing to go on Steven Colbert's show. If you have the chance, go watch the clip on YouTube. While being completely nice and respectful, Colbert gently destroyed O'Reilly. Even O'Reilly realized it, lamenting later that one of his biggest mistakes was going on that show. He has no brains and no credibility, other than realizing that others saw the true man.

Those "hate from the left" comments are somewhat ironic when you consider the Republican Party has been running a campaign of fear and hatred since Nixon left D.C. The right has nothing left but their hatred for the American way of life, a very well-defined liberal society, if one were to read the Constitution for themselves.

The comment that makes most sense out of ALL the prior and after rants comes from White Mountain (above)... You get it! MOST of us are missing the big picture by focusing on protecting our petty, pecayunish and puny positions (that's a lot of "P"). We have not only drank the Kool-Aid... we bought it and mixed it too! My castle for a person with an original thought! How about let's start with going back to consider what our founding fathers' intended for our country?! We've come a long way, Baby, and we're a LONG way from home...

The Nazi party?? Does Mr. O'Reilly not realize that most Americans are familiar with the Political spectrum, and WE realize that he is the closest thing to a Nazi we've ever had "reporting"?? Say the words.. say what you want people to believe, but NEVER say the truth... how American is that???
