Romney Grabs a Sign
July 22, 2007 11:23 AM
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has been really going after the Democrats as of late, slamming Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for saying that kindergartners should receive "age appropriate" sex education (LINK) (even though Romney supported "age appropriate" sex education in the Bay State when he was governor -- read more about that HERE), implying Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., holds Marxist positions (LINK) ….
And now our friends at TMZ.com have a photograph (LINK) of the governor posing for a picture with a supporter's sign that reads: "No to Obama, Osama, and Chelsea's Moma (sic)."
Says Obama spokesman Bill Burton in response: "This kind of smallness is what makes Americans so tired of politics and points precisely to what they want to change in Washington."
What do you think? Has he gone too far?

oh-and Mitt Romney will say and do anything for a vote.
First he was for abortion now he is pro-life, first he was for rights for gays now he is against it. He supported sex ed now he is against it.
flip flopper...flip flopper...flip flopper

To all the so called parents that are ticked that Obama would SUPPORT sex ed to students as young as kindergarten doesn't have a clue what he was actually referring to.
Planned Parethood ASKED him his opinion of the subject and he stated it. He also says whatever schoolboard/states deteremine what is AGE APPRORIATE.
Here are so stats to wake you:
++30-40% of victims are abused by a family member.
++Another 50% are abused by someone outside of the family whom they know and trust.
++The median age for reported abuse is 9 years old.
++More than 20% of children are sexually abused before the age of 8.
and one that should make you aware of the importance of sex ed:
+++Young victims may not recognize their victimization as sexual abuse+++

Timothy O'Neil - spewing propaganda huh? First all the candidtes use focus groups, ok Obama uses the most.
Next Romney save Mass. from going bankrupted, he saved the Olympics, he actually is the most qualified of all the candidates officially in the field right now. Why do you think the libs are attacking him the most?
He was able to work across party lines, come on he was a Republican Governor in one of the most liberal states who re-elects a murderer and a traitor for Senators all the time.

Obama was the first one to start popping off with his mouth about other candidates, I respect the person to focus on the issues and detach themselves from the other childish flakes.

Romney is a flake and doesn't have a chance, he's a joke!!
Posted by: Free America | Jul 24, 2007 8:58:44 AM
I don't know why any of you people are buying Romney's spiel. The man says what the focus group wants to hear, and does what's best for Mitt Romney. He takes credit for things he should not, and passes the buck under pressure. He was a terrible Governor in Massachusetts, he would be an equally terrible President. As for the sign, his response says it all. Mitt Romney doesn't care about anyone. He just wants your vote, and he'll tell you whatever you want to hear to get it.

That was a great sign! Where do I get the t-shirt?
I'd have more respect for Obama if it weren't for the fact that he thinks it's okay to take away my parental rights. Sex education in Kindergarten? No wonder the world is going to Hell.

if you don't like the romney response wait a bit and he will change it. junior high jabs and postings really tell where he is coming from. grow up and get a real job

What's Bush got to do with this Romney sign thing? Why bring him into this "discussion"?
Again with the indignant thing....
Why not just present your view on a topic instead of being mad all the time. I'm sure if I met you I wouldn't like you as a person, but I wouldn't tell you that non-stop.

spock - get real. lesson 2 - the war in Iraq has made the terrorist threat ten times worse, thanks to bush and co. lesson 3- where have you heard that analogy made (bush to hitler) besides on some fringe left extremist blog that no one visits? whereas the obama osama misnomer is all the talk on fox news. oh, and tarantino style, back to lesson one : the media has one bias and one bias alone, and that is the bias of advertising grubbing, corporate $$$-kissing.
Posted by: j | Jul 23, 2007 4:36:18 PM
Tom - Where have you been , GOP leaned media, thats a joke. 90% of the mainstream media is liberal lesson one.
Lesson 2 - What have the lib dems done to make us safer from terrorists, see unless you willing to defend the U.S. you do support the terrorists.
3 - your upset at Romney comparing Obama to Osama, where was you outrage when the Libs compare Bush to Hitler. Oh and Romney did not make the sign.
oh and it was The mighty Kennedy that started the Obama Osama rhythm.
Posted by: spock | Jul 23, 2007 4:30:08 PM
It's true Kennedy made the Osama - Obama verbal slip (He had problems pronouncing Judge Alito's name too - kept calling him Alioto)
Anyway... all you people that work full-time in the indignant industry need to find another line of work. Geeez...you're such a drag.

People are right- there's no comma. It says "Obama Osama", talking about one person. Since this article pretends there is a comma (like most biaed mainstream media spin-it-for-the-GOP articles), GOP partisans like Sean O'Brien pretend this is just about slamming Romney for the sake of it.
It's really about the real McCarthyism of the "if you support Dems you support terrorism" line of the Republicans the past several years, and how Romney is definitely endorsing that divisive and dishonest attitude by standing by that sign. This IS an ISSUE. It's the Republicans that resort to name-calling and McCarthyism because they have already been proven wrong about all the issues.

Are people offended because it puts Obama and Clinton in the same phrase as Osama Bin Laden? Does it indicate some kind of allegience between the three? The answer to the latter is no. The answer to the former is yes because people bring their own bias to the forefront. I guess if the sign said "No to Obama and Chelsea's Moma", the Clinton and Obama camps would be raving about the clever rhyme, right? This is what you come up with when you can't track down drug use or affairs in someone's past. If you really want to talk about the issues, then do not make this an issue.

*yawn* much ado about nothing

amen, Jock...it's like not knowing the mike is open or that there are cameras rolling everywhere, esp if you are a leading presidential candidate
Posted by: phillygirl64 | Jul 23, 2007 2:42:46 PM
Even if this was just a clueless moment on a tiring campaign trail, shouldn't we elect a President that has the fewest clueless moments under stress? We need to elect an exceptional person as President, not a handsome or rich one too focussed on being telegenic to pay attention to what he is doing.

Fresh Ideas don`t come from stale Politicians. 2008 the year to change the hate for the current Government, or disolve it!
Posted by: JB | Jul 23, 2007 12:27:16 PM
if Mitt willingly endorses this kind of political message, he is only fit to be a broadcaster on the notorious fox news, not our future president. We as a nation must demand a new sense of maturity and solidarity in our future president.
Posted by: j | Jul 23, 2007 12:25:18 PM
Maybe my eyes are failing but I see no comma between "Obama" and "Osama." I'm willing to bet the sign's creator specifically meant "Obama Osama." That Romney would endorse such a statement speaks either to ridiculous naivete or joining in a despicable, fallacious political smear.
