Seamus, we hardly knew ye

July 09, 2007 7:42 AM

Loyal readers will know that I generally prefer cats. But given the curiosity of the story of Mitt Romney's Irish setter Seamus (LINK), check out the new blog DogsAgainstRomney (LINK)…

Also, I wrote a little piece about this all for the Los Angeles Times over the weekend (LINK)…

On to weightier matters…by which I am not referring to Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa's affair with a Telumundo anchor, since put on leave (LINK)...

Rather - as the Senate begins debating the Defense Department authorization bill, and Defense Secretary Gates cancels his Latin America tour to prepare a bad-news report on Iraqi government benchmarks not met, Democrats again are piushing for U.S. troop withdrawal. With Republican after Republican rebelling against the president's surge strategy, it will be interesting to see how the GOPers vote.

More later…Hope you had a good 4th!

First time since Pearl Harbor, America is attacked, and this president declares a war on a unknow face, calls them terorrist, as we now know, Bush does not have the balls to sign a decloration, real declared war eh? (Draft) I do not care if the president does or does not sign a decloration. Point is my fellow Americans are dying, based on manipulated peices of truth. FYI if Republicans wanted the borders secured, one person could do it right now! GW BUSH. so stop with the finger pointing! only one person responsible for the solvranty of our nation, GW BUSH.

JB - Last I checked Congress did declare War in Iraq, A declaration of War does not need to say 'Declare War', They authorized military action in Iraq and in a separate authorization against any Country supporting Terrorists.

When have you ever heard a Lib democrat say anything good about our military. Oh they already said we lost, so that is fact. ie - Reid, Gore, Obama, Edwards, etc....

Oh by the way it is the libs that do not want to do anything with our Borders, not conservatives who want them closed.

They should give General Petreaus the time requested. Why do you think they are pushing now, because the libs will be politically hurt if Victory is achieved. They are the party of Defeat.

I know soldiers fighting over there, and they support the mission and they want to win and all they need is the support and their hands untied.

Oh as far as Romney's dog, give me a break, dogs love the wind, I would not of done it, but this really has no basis for whether he would be a good President or not.

Oh as far as the voting system, it works after you take out the 2500 dead Libs that vote in NJ, the 2000 in Washington State, and others.

Why is it that YOU say "THEY"? want us to loose. Is this a fellow American? Or are you just misrepresenting what the real intention is? Like stop loosing American lives, for an undeclared war, get serious! I would like for you Political clowns to wear your colors on your sleeve so real Americans (those that reason)will know who`s butt to kick for not protecting our borders. I have fought for this country and have never voted, simply because I do not trust the voting system.

Welcome back Jake.

LOL

Nice of you to at least feign respect for Romney's relationship with his dog. I'm sure he'd rather you feign respect for his God.

chuck, Titanic is a good analogy. Mixing the analogy, I'd like to see the boat change its course, rather than sink. How long can the Bush administration defy the will of the people? And congress?

Welcome back, Jake! Hope you had a great vacation!

I hadn't heard about the incident with Gov. Romney's dog, but, at best, I think the dog responded apppropriately. What was Gov. Romney thinking in subjecting a family pet to such treatment? Now it seems he's opened himself to well-deserved criticism not from only human pet lovers but also from different species! Serves him right!

And, speaking of different species, one obviously not as enlightened as the "DogsAgainstRomney," the Dems' continued push for troop withdrawals may have a tiny bit more support from dissident Repubs, but even the dissidents have generally publicly disavowed the Dems' tactics, such as they are. Most of the dissidents desperately want the President to do something, anything, instead of "staying the course" until the September report from Gen. Petraeus. After Sen. Lugar's defection last week, Stephen Hadley was on the Hill supposedly on a "fact-finding" mission, but actually to gauge how many more defections were imminent. This entire scenario is beginning to take on "Titanic-esque" proportions!

Why are the Libs so embedded for us to lose in Iraq?

Gen Petrauses stated he needs to September to give a good point of where we are at, why can't they wait until the General comes backs and give his report.

Oh that's right the Libs and their Lib newsmedia want us to lose.
