Farewell to the "turd blossom"
August 13, 2007 9:41 AM
In his inimitable style, presidential aide Karl Rove this morning knocked the Iowa Straw Poll victors Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee off the political headlines today to tell his pal Paul Gigot at the Wall Street Journal that he's leaving the White House. (LINK).
"I just think it's time," Rove said.
The so-called "Architect" (the president's other nickname for him: "turd blossom LINK) has left quite a legacy -- winning back-to-back presidential election victories, historically picking up seats in the 2002 mid-terms, leading the political charge for a Medicare prescription drug benefit, tax cuts, and education reform.
President Bush came to Washington, DC, promising to change the tone and the tone has changed -- it's worse. Rove, and his political tactics, are partly to blame for that. And despite his protestations that the GOP would hold on to the House and Senate in 2006 -- he told one NPR reporter that the reporter was entitled to his math, but Rove was entitled to THE math -- he shuffles out leaving the president with a hostile Democratic-controlled Congress, failures on immigration and Social Security reform, and two wars not going so hot.
What do you think of Rove?

Well, "Bush's Brain" as a moniker says it all....there is no "Bush Brain" so basically we're losing "nothing". I'd also be careful calling myself "Moby Dick" - he's opening himself wide on that one!! "He Who I Cannot Name" is one of the most vile, egotistical persons in political history - good riddance!

Just another rat deserting the good ship bush as it smashes to pieces on the rocky shores of reality.

Spock:
Betraying our country? Bush has done more than that, he wants to sell arms, weapons, RPG`s, to the very people that attacked the USA, his pals in Saudi Arabia, and in Mexico, same deal, arms, while leaving our borders wide open and allowing illegal people to take president over American citizens rights, calling the minute men vigalanties, putting our border patrol in prison, protecting the Bin Laden family, minutes after we were attacked!on 911. Over 250,000 arms unacounted for, given to the Iraq police and Military. You should be so bold to compare!

He's not a whale, he's a bottom feeder. His big achievement is expunging the last vestige of commitment to morality, conservatism, and public service from the Republican Party.

Yep, its time alright. He has done all the damage he can do. Now that bush boy is on his way out, he will need to think of other ways to lend his hand to the destruction of the middle class and America's reputation. Yep, it time alright, long overdue for us ordinary citizens.

It was with a great deal of elation that I heard the news of "ROVER" being banished from the White House.Bush's Pit Bull addressed the media like a whipped puppy holding back his self-pitying tears, and whining pitifully that he needs to make some money, and spend time with his family. (Everybody who thinks Rove left willingly, raise your hand) Rove was forced out, just like Rummy. Rove hates the idea of not being the pivotal go-to guy. He's a power-monger out of his element now and he's hatin'it!!! I hope Patrick Leahy nails his sorry A-- with a subpoena. (It'll be interesting to see if his memory is as fuzzy as Gonzo's.) What a currupt, inept, immoral, self-serving band of scoundrels this Admin has been!!

Jake (the) Tapper said: "President Bush came to Washington, DC, promising to change the tone and the tone has changed -- it's worse."
Of course "the tone has changed". With conservatives in charge, the Democrat party got scared and then they and their lap dogs in the WSM (Waste Stream Media) thought they all had no choice, but to embrace, empower and emulate the tactics of the LLLF (Lying Leftist Lunatic Fringe), like those posting over at the Daily KO(OK)S. What did you expect coming out of a tribe of misfit folks that much of the time clearly can‘t distinguish fact from fantasy, truth from lies, and even right from wrong?
Jake (the) Tapper said: "Rove, and his political tactics, are partly to blame for that.”
That makes a nice throw away line Jake, but where’s your evidence of that ridiculous statement? Or, are you applying for a job posting over at the Daily KO(OK)S, and just trying to establish better bona fides??

Another killer clown out of the circus. Only leaves two.

Mr. Rove. I'm sad to see you go. Your replacement might be competent.

Turd Blossom? Let me count the ways...the collapse of the republicans can be his legacy but the whole shooting match is on the line...will the USA survive this filth? stay tuned...

Rove blows out of town
Spun as a "win" for White House?
Nope; no Rove, no dice

I think of Rove as one of the "Axis of Evil". One out, two to go.

As an evangelical, I find what Karl Rove did using evangelicals to be one of the most disturbing masterpieces of his entire ouvre. He only did, however, what we (as evangelicals and as Americans overall) allowed him to do. Namely, fear monger. I think the negative impact of Rove and the Bush Whitehouse on evangelicalism may be cultural fatal, or at least a chronic cultural illness we will not shake. For myself, I increasingly question the use of the word "evangelical" as a signifier of my faith in Jesus. I'm an urban believer who voted Nader in 2000 (a safe bet in the state I lived in, since Gore had it sown up) and Kerry in 2004.

Hey Looken - I am tired of hearing libs say this President is damaging the Constitution of the U.S. with no examples nevermind facts. Please give one example that is not a talking point. See I can give a list of example the Libs are doing against the constitution
1 - Attacking Freedom of Speech, i.e - Fairness doctrine
2 - 2nd Amendment - that list goes on and on
3 - Freedom of Religion
4 - Trying to create socialism.
5 etc......
Please list one the President has attacked, from our Constitution please not France's

also known as Bush's Brain. Now that's a dubious honor, if ever there ever were one.
I have some degree of respect for Rove's political skills. While the administration has failed at uniting and has probably lost the moderate vote in the past year or so, Rove can generally be credited with strengthening the base, and creating infrastructure through which operatives can manipulate turn out.
Buh bye turd blossom. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

So Turd Blossom gets flushed!!!..Do you really think he is not going to be hanging around?????...This is just another ploy by bush to take some heat off of him and administration!...Oh well, what do you really exspect from TURD BUSH!

Well, we can call W whatever we want, but he was certainly smart enough to beat his opponents most of the time. I expect that the next comment will be how he 'stole' the first presidential election. Let's remember that it was Al Gore that sent it to the courts first. He may be a little home-spun, but W was saavy enough to beat Ann Richards (the second time), Al Gore and John Kerry.

I knew I felt a shift in the Force! With the resignation of his brain, maybe Bush shouldn't have vetoed stemcell research.
What has Texas done to deserve his return? Mr. Rove has helped put a non-engaged, socially inept, village idiot into the White House while subverting justice and the Constitution, outing a CIA agent (putting her family's lives in peril), placed business concerns before the good of the American people regarding global warming and the powers of the EPA, created a feeling of mistrust of government amoung Americans, brought campaign ethics to a new low while assisting President Bush in a brand of cowboy diplomacy that has dragged America's reputation to unprecedented depths.
His job done, he's descending on Texas like some plague of locusts. Again I ask, what has Texas done to deserve this weird little man's return? Doesn't Texas already have enough Super-sites, rattlesnakes and "turd blossoms"?
Maybe he'll get a double-wide and try to move near the President in Crawford?Perhaps in the servants quarters?

Leo Strauss (regarded as one of the intellectual sources of U.S. neoconservatism) taught the idea that perpetual deception of citizens by those in power is critical because they need to be led, and need “strong” rulers to tell them what's good for them. Rove has been a smirking example of this elitist attitude. Goodbye.

Good riddance to Carl Rove. Only an absolute fool would continue to defend or support the transgressions of the Bush administration. Denial changes nothing. It is neither noble nor patriotic to guard the door whilst the fox raids the hen-house.

The 'tone' in Washington will continue to be the 'tone' we see as long as the structure of the political parties and elections are as they are designed currently. But for the time candidates are seeking election, there is very little incentive for them to work with people from the opposing party. An individual that works with members from the other party is regognized as a traitor to the purists in his or her party. Each party wants all the credit for any progress, because that helps them stay in office/power. The tone of Karl Rove is NO different than the tones of James Carville and Paul Begala, so don't fool yourself Jake. We rarely see Karl Rove being interviewed or making commentary. We constantly saw Carville and Begala -- and I don't remember anyone being nearly as spiteful as James Carville.

Karl Rove's resignation:
Face it Bush beat you at your game!!!
Bet you did not see this coming!!! Who are you going to pick on now?!?
Posted by: Mary Ann Winck | Aug 13, 2007 11:43:44 AM
Well, the president certainly never had a brain. Let's give him, the administration and the neocons credit. They have created a more dangerous world - hint - those that struck on 9-11 are not and were not in Iraq. They are between Afghanistan and Pakistan - where they train openly and use the Iraq war as an excuse to recruit fresh candidates. So, for all of you brain dead admirers of what this administration has done and are hoping for more of the same, move to Iraq. There are still billions of US Dollars to be had. I'm certain with your political leanings a position with Halliburton can be made available to you.
Posted by: Gordon | Aug 13, 2007 11:37:39 AM
Well done, Mr. Tapper! While the resignation of M. Rove is being used by the media as a time to reflect on the man's political cunning, you are among the few (so far) to provide some critical analysis. Recent testimony at the Roberto Gonzales hearings has made it abundantly clear that through 'voter caging' our last two general elections were very likely stolen, especially in Florida (2000) and Ohio (2004). Rather than bestowing praise on 'the Architect' and 'the Brain', the media, the public and our elected leaders should be demanding an investigation into the obvious collusion between the GOP and manufacturers of voting machinery. Why aren't more 'patriots', particularly those on the Right asking these same questions?

I'm surprised people aren't dancing in the streets over this news. But probably they don't believe he'll REALLY be gone anymore than I do. This idiot has done more damage to the constitution than any previous administration. I'm disgusted to call myself an American.
Posted by: Looken | Aug 13, 2007 11:35:54 AM
good riddance to another hate-mongering, war waging.
Posted by: tom | Aug 13, 2007 11:22:25 AM
Well we should all Thank Mr. rove for his great service to our country. His work in helping the President try to bring people together even with the anti-American libs who are trying to split this country.
He is a Great man.
Chuck As far as Kerry, one that was not him, but actual heros's from Vietnam, and please state what was Fabricated, see saying something is fabricated does not prove anything, see there are tapes of Kerry betraying our Country, and actually I would put his treason at a higher level the Jane fonda's.
Why wouldn't Kerry release his records, maybe because what said is true?
Usually in all Presidential terms a lot of advisers resign to move on, Unfortunately President Bush can not run for a Third term, so Rove wants time with his family. i know Libs do not care about family that is why is hard for them to understand.
Posted by: spock | Aug 13, 2007 11:15:42 AM
Bush owns you. Don't fear the advisors, as they can simply be reloaded.
It is Bush who masters you. Fear Bush.
LOL.

Turd blossom indeed; this stinks to high heaven...why is it that when the going gets rough, they always quit 'for the family'?

If I were to tell you what I really think of Karl Rove, I'm afraid my comments would be expurgated. Instead, I'll credit him for beint a brilliant political strategist whose expertise is smear campaigns (two of his most notorious: the fabricated doubts about Ann Richards' sexuality and the utter fabrications against John Kerrey's military record) and as partisan as they come. His legacy is exactly what you stated, Jake: "a hostile Democratic-controlled Congress, failures on immigration and Social Security reform, and two wars not going so hot."
