Laboring on Labor Day

September 03, 2007 5:27 PM

So I'm back on the road, in Milford, NH, with my producer Alyssa Litoff, covering the comings and goings of the candidates.

We just got back from the big Labor Day parade, attended by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and Sens. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Barack Obama, D-Illinois. There was a big presence for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and a very sad showing for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. -- quite a comedown for a state where he trounced then-Gov. George W. Bush in the 2000 New Hampshire primary. It doesn't bode well.

On the plane this morning, Sen. John Sununu, R-NH, told me that candidates had to stay in their convertible cars during the parade. Obama and Dodd did so, but Romney was running around the street, shaking hands, kissing babies, hustling hustling hustling. He even hustled his way into my standup; watch World News this evening to see what I'm talking about.

More in a bit…

Great report yesterday evening on WN, Jake! Obviously, Gov. Romney is trying to get all--and I mean ALL--the publicity he can before the New Hampshire vote. What a ham!

On a personal note, has your bundle of joy arrived yet? If so, how are you and your wife doing with the new familial addition?
