Clinton: Illinois State Senate a Part-Time Job
January 11, 2008 8:58 AM
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, takes on the experience of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun.
"He was a part-time state senator for a few years, and then he came to the Senate and immediately started running for president," she said. "And that's his prerogative. That's his right. But I think it is important to compare and contrast our records."

A strong case is building against Obama for the fundamental contradictions of his campaign!
For one thing, he runs on his "freshness" and "lack of baggage," and certain people, even in his home state of Illinois don't like him and know he's curropt. (I've heard at least four people of Illinois post adverse comments toward Obama, his curroption, etc.) Then there's of course his long-term friendship with Rezko - very telling! (The man under FBI investigation who will be indicted for curroption charges probably later in January or February). Obama didn't vote to enter Iraq, as he didn't vote for many things while in the senate. Then he voted for funding the war. Then later, said that he and Bush's views were just about the same. Moreover, Obama says he's for the common person, then how come most of his supporters in New Hampshire and all in Iowa were elites?
The statistics are: The majority of Hillary's voters were the non-elites, and the blue-collar workers. And just about all Iowans are well off. Statistics show Hillary won THROUGH the non-rich, and non-elites. Obama's campaign is being dishonest AGAIN in implying he represents the common American. Besides the elites, there are the rest of us. Hillary WON here. These facts are in news reports, analyses of how she won New Hampshire, pictures of Obama's crowds of supporters and other places. Then Obama’s fundamental contradiction which perhaps sums it all up is: “The freest of all passes to Obama is the general neglect of the obvious central contradiction of his candidacy -- the bipartisan uniter who would bring us together by transcending ideology is at every turn on every policy an unwavering, down-the-line, unreconstructed, uninteresting, liberal Democrat(!)
He doesn't even offer a modest deviation from orthodoxy. When the Gang of 14, seven Republican and seven Democratic senators, agreed to restore order and a modicum of bipartisanship to the judicial selection process, Obama refused to join lest he anger the liberal base.
Special interests? Obama is a champion of the Davis-Bacon Act, an egregious gift to Big Labor that makes every federal public-works project MORE COSTLY [put in caps]. He not only vows to defend it, but proposes extending it to artificially raise wages for any guest worker program … ” - Charles Krauthammer

I don't see how Hillary has that much more experience than Obama. She was a first lady to a governor and a president. Does anyone think she got the chance to be senator on her own or it was her husband's pull that got her a chance at the nomination? As for experience mattering, why did she vote for the disatrous Iraq resolution if experience is what matter? My 9 year old daughter watched Colin Powell's address to the United Nations and thought the evidence of wmd in Iraq was 'made-up and fake looking.' And my daughter has no political experience. And recently Hillary Clinton voted for the Iran resolution. How much common sense does that imply, if the same administration that talked us into an incredibly unnecessary war with trumped up information is trying to do it again and you vote for it? She did it to appear tough on terror, a purely political self-centered way of voting, instead of thinking of the risk she would put our country and military in, by giving this adminstration the power to go to an unjust pre-emptive war again. Our family is livid about her vote.
What is most important in a presidential candidate is intelligence, common sense and the courage to stand up for what is right. That is the type of leader I see in Obama. He saw through the b.s. of the Bush administration and voted no on the Iraq resolution. He has workable solutions to problems and has proven he can work in a bi-partisan fashion. But best of all he can see, as my daughter said, when the emperor isn't wearing any clothes.

Well Obama found the career he can easily excel by deceiving people with big words and charisma. POLITICS at the NATIONAL LEVEL. The fact is that prior to the spotlight during the convention in 2004 that really launched his political career to a different level, prior to that Obama was just another state politician, never had a leadership position in the State or very strong following, even during his campaign to the US Senate he was new to many of us in Illinois even tho by then he had already been many years as State Senator. At the University of Chicago, well I graduated from Law school before I went to Harvard too, and at the U of Chicago, he was never one of the top lecturer guest professors (because Obama never has been a full time Professor at the University of Chicago) as far as I recall, and about community service in Chicago, well he was always overshadowed by Jesse Jackson. So Obama like many other thousands of professionals in this country can have a very nice resume "in paper" but that doesn't mean all of us are prepared to be the President of the United States. You need a good combination of education, personal skill, leadership and knowledge. Now you can try to hype the experience or achievements but you can't cover the facts and those facts show he never was the real leader in the State, U of Chicago or in the city of Chicago prior to 2004 and since, well all he has done is running for the Presidency.
Take way from him all the millions of dollars Obama is getting that allow him to market his campaign, buy media, and apparatus, advertise and hype his credential, take away the biased media coverage of his campaign, bring a real scrutiny to his campaign like is done to every other politician, and take away the big powers and people supporting him or using him to keep holding onto that power and he will be just another politician trying to be President. Tho his strategist are doing a GREAT job by introducing him to the country; the sad part if they are misleading us all because thats not the real Obama; but Obama ambitious are bigger than his fears and he probably believe in his head that he is the best qualified or that he is the ONLY one to save this country at this moment or the ONLY want to make a change. What kind of change he is talking about? Bringing people together...sure you can setup meetings in community areas, businesses and the politicians know a lot about it too; but where is the agenda, what are the real goals, who are going to lead those efforts, when? at what cost? We need to know.
So far I don't buy into the media frenzy and all this hype. I'll wait and see.

Hillary Clinton's
For 34 - 35 years the only thing Hillary
Clinton done was putting up with Slick Bill Clinton womanizing ways and his corruption through out their marriage.
Hillary Clinton should be tired of the spot light by now and be ashamed.

Illinois Indy I know exactly what you mean. Maryland had its own corrupt administration of former Governor Robert Ehrlich. Google Joseph Steffen.

Spock,
There will be a Democrat nominee. Better Hillary than Obama.

Wait until Feb 25 when all the dirt on Obama is going to start coming out when the trail of his fund riser Rezko get to the front pages. The Feds and Fitzgerald will he hard on anyone that was associated with this guy including the Illinois Governor and Obama. Obama career has been that play the nice guys be nice with all the BIG boys, not to antagonize them and serve all their purposes. Thats the kinda of change he will bring to D.C. He is good at negotiating; but not for the people of Illinois never was and much less will be for the entire country.
As a resident of Illinois I have long been disgusted with the "under the table" corruption that runs RAMPANT here. What disgusts me even more is that when blatant evidence is exposed, the accused individual always finds a way to "make it go away". Chicago Mayor Daley is the chief source of most of the corruption in the state ("Operation Silver Shovel", etc.), but somehow he's always able to walk away with his hands clean. Oh, by the way, he's a big Obama supporter. Also, Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan (and current Illinois Democratic Party Chairman) was under investigation by the Feds. No problem. He and the Illinois Democratic Machine got Madigan's daughter elected Attorney General of Illinois. Gee, what ever happened to that investigation...........As far as the Rezko case, Obama is not the only one having a connection to Rezko. Rezko was a fundraiser and close friend of the current governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich - a governor who is also being investigated by the Feds for his own corrupt practices. (Ironically, Blagojevich came to power by vowing to clean up the corruption created by Republican Governor George Ryan.)Those of you who still aren't convinced that Barack Obama is yet another cog in the Illinois corruption machine should look up the Todd Stroger Cook County Board election scandal. Barack Obama unabashedly threw his full support to Todd Stroger despite the dubious way Stroger even got to become a cadidate. Why would Obama even endorse such shennanigans? I don't have enough time to go into this one, but trust me, it's a beauty. Look it up!Whether Obama himself is corrupt is yet to be determined, but his associations do cause alarm. Are these the same associations that would follow him to the White House? Obama is not "squeeky clean". We in Illinois know better.I will close by saying that I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I have been forced into cynical independency from Illinois polititians that continue to disappoint.

Hillary Clinton's antics!
Do we need a cry baby for President?
Posted by: Boyddollar | Jan 11, 2008 10:14:45 AM
It is basically a part time job. Many of the members of the illinois general assembly work other full time jobs. They are attorneys, police officers, pastors, assistant principals of a catholic high school, etc. I believe that Sen. Obama in fact was a professor of law at the University of Chicago while he was a State Senator in Illinois. Please check your facts before you start your rants.

by the way Obama I hate to say it and it seem unbelievable but he has more scandals then Hilary (You can not blame Hilary for Bills Scandals, she has enough on her own)
So it showing that Libs do not care about scandals and corruption because everyone of their candidates has major scandal, lies so much that if they were Pinocchio there nose wold touch Pluto!
A regular politician nose usually only touches the moon :)
the dems in congress are pushing thru trillions of dollars in ear marks without even voting!! So what are they doing for minorities? What have they done for education, they keep promising but do nothing - Did you ever think that they do not want to solve it because if they did there would be less Libs?

To the best of this Illinois native's knowledge, the position of state senator in the Illinois legislature is a full-time position, not a "part-time" one as Sen. Clinton incorrectly asserts. But I guess this misstatement isn't too surprising, given her "over 35 years" of "working for change." Hyperbole, thy name is Clinton!

ROB - You need to investigate Obama a little more, he went to the same law school as Hilary, same marxist professor and so forth. He was recruited and paid for by lobbyist and corporations to convince the Blacks to vote Democratic.
What has he done for Illionis? But then again what has Hilary done for NY?
The Libs do not do anything but cry!!

Foot in mouth ALERT!!! I think what he did as a community organizer, activist, and 'part-time' state senator carries more weight than being a corporate lawyer and "experience" by osmosis as a 'part-time' wife so concerned about her own ambition and misandry, her husband had to go elsewhere. Hillary and Bill's lack of restraint and arrogance will cost them. We are tired of Clinton scandals and dysfunction. That's their REAL experience.

Hillary Clinton should please release her records that everyone has been demanding since 2005. What is she hidding from? If she claims her experience of 35 years is based on her activities during her position as First Lady of Arkansas and the United States, then she should release her record so that voters can examine her "experience" claim. It is a shame that Judicial Watch had to sue for her record to be released. Shame on her!
