Good Morning From Boca Raton
January 24, 2008 9:12 AM
As we prepare for the GOP debate this evening, let's take a moment.
First - to reflect that McCain's "Statler" will be sadly lacking Fred Thompson's "Waldorf" this evening...Sad.
But second, to look at the dynamics.
Republicans are running short on cash -- that creates a huge opportunity for Mitt Romney, who's on track to put more of his own money into the race that either Ross Perot or Steve Forbes.
Read more about that HERE or watch our World News piece HERE.
Then there's Rudy, who has bet it all on the Sunshine State.
A new Miami Herald poll has him slipping into third place.
We spent a day with him this week, you can read about that HERE or watch some of the interview HERE.
What do you think?

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Good Morning From Boca Raton:
WHY WOULD ANYONE VOTE FOR McCAIN...
McCain graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at the naval academy and admittedly is not very knowledgeable about economics.
A war hero, he was, back in the 1960's.
A personal moral exemplar (like Mitt), he was not.
Wikipedia:
"As a child, John was known for a quick temper...."
"McCain was a rebellious midshipman and his career at the Naval Academy was ambivalent and lackluster. He had his share of run-ins with the faculty and leadership; each year he was given over 100 demerits (for unshined shoes, formation faults, talking out of place, and the like), earning him membership in the 'Century Club'."

Venture capitalists like Mr. Romney represent the most extreme form of capitalism in the United States. Their singular goal is maximizing profitability for conglomerates of extremely wealthy companies and individuals without regard for whether jobs are moved overseas or US companies are broken up and sold off. He represents a continued linkage between political power and economic power. Until this bond is broken we will have democracy for the benefit of the corporation rather than democracy for the People. The oil industry just had its President for eight years. We cannot afford to give the venture capital industry their own President as well. I don't like all of McCain's positions, but at least he has been consistent over the past years where as Romney seems to swing wildly depending on what state he is running in.

Romney is a fake republican, why do you think he was governor of the most liberal state in the union. He will get crushed in the south and will not get the nomination. Face it, McCain will get the nod and we will be in Iran faster than you can find reverse in a soviet tank.

Mitt Romney is the number one leader if you are looking for an experienced, educated, hard-working conservative. He is the only one in the debates that has anything constructive to say. His responses prove very profound in comparison to the other candidates. They seem like they are trying to get more laughs than show their political ideas.
I think that McCain and Huckabee are really exaggerating their stances on 2 very important key issues: Immigration and Economy (taxation).
Both act like they are super conservative with both, but when you actually look at their records they are only conservative compared to Edwards. They consistently choose softness on immigration. Both also act as if they are so against taxing, but both have histories of tax increases.
Mitt Romney is not a phony, he is the real deal. He has never personally attacked any of them. Instead he attacks their records, somehow earning him the bad sportsmanship award. The media wants him out of the way, so that whoever wins the Democratic Nomination will win the white house. There is no way Huckabee can win the white house, especially how he can’t speak a sentence without cramming some religious theme into it. It might work well when you are courting the highly evangelical states, but it really puts off people who are not evangelical. I am highly religious, but do not feel the need to constantly bring it up in every conversation. He is offensive. He is damaging to the Republican Party.

Unless Mayor Giuliani can really outfox the polls, he's probably finished after Florida. Maybe he can join Fred ("Arthur Branch") Thompson in New York for a new Statler and Waldorf act!

I think you forgot to mention the one who will win the debate: Mike Huckabee. Contrary to the media that have reported his demise, he is still running in FL.

I read somewhere this debate is canceled. Is it the case?

Some opinions are that Ron Paul will need another $150M in his coffers to get elected. Well, how convenient, that Mr Bush provided an economic stimulus package to bribe everybody. Lets stimulate the Paul campaign by sending our bribe checks to his support. Checks are $600 for each person, thus we will need 250,000 people to donate their checks. This should do it. It's the literal cost of freedom folks. Google Amero, Trilateral commission, NWO, PNAC, ect... do the research. Go Ron 2008!
