He Ran (So Far Away)
January 24, 2008 11:14 AM
In case you missed former Sen. John Edwards's appearance on Letterman Tuesday night, you can see some exceprts HERE Edwards claimed during the debate he was trying to "represent the grown-up wing of the Democratic Party."
Best moment: Letterman asks if he can muss Edwards' hair, and then proceeds to do so.
Political Punch deputy managing editor Lauren Effron suggests that at the end of it all, Edwards comes out looking like the lost member of A Flock of Seagulls.
Not a bad call.

What the Democrats have forgotten is the backlacklash they will receive from Florida voters. John Kerry and the Democratic party did not fight the unconstitional (state of Florida) ballet for our votes in 2000. And in 2008 the Democratic party choose an unfunded mandate in demanding a different Primary voting day. The Republican Governor and Legislature chose the 1/29/08 date. The only way the Florida democrats could vote on another day is if they paid all the expenses throughout the state to run another election.
Democratic Party - don't call me and ask for my vote in November or any time in the future.

will be interesting to see how edwards goes - he knows he's just a footnote, but he's clearly after VP or AG or something. does he really think obama can win and give it to him? if so, he's been drinking too much koolaid. i suspect obama would just promise and then renege on the promise, even if he could get elected, which he can't. hillary would probably at least give him AG or some decent ambassadorship. but i doubt if he figures it out.

I'm afraid Sen. Edwards has overstated his assertion that he represents the "grown-up" wing of the Democraatic Party. Based on the behavior of the two front-running candidates, that wing must consist of only a few people!

Is not a nice thing to watch on the news or read on the press the 24/7 slugfest between Obama and Hillary. They should be focusing in the issues are Edwards is doing it. Edwards is the more serious candidate in the field and the one with most courage and real commitment to the American people.Where is Al Gore????????????????? he should be endorsing Edwards to help fight those powerful interest represented by Hillary and Obama

Isn't it funny that someone will complain that someone is talking about the same thing over and over, homeless vets, the middle class suffering etc etc. Do you think that might be because they are important issues???? Duh!! I don't think talking about whether other candidates are stupid is really tackling the issue, the slugfest is a nice way to get the media to focus on the BEST candidate which is John Edwards, and I hope he keeps talking about America's problems and how he's going to solve them. Scares me that some of these people can vote, sheesh!

He's distant Third place for good reasons: He sounds like a phony trial lawyer.
He sounds like a broken record. It doesnt matter what the subject is-- he ony has one answer:"middle class, two americas, homeless veterans." He gives this answer even when hes asked about foreign policy- he has no clue what he's talking about so he pivots back to his stump line on everything.

While Clinton and Obama are sucking all the air from the news, and their bickering and petty personal attacks grow on a daily basis; Edwards is the only one running a serious campaign he is not trying to destroy the Democratic party and he is fighting for the American people.
Go Edwards!!

Jake, you are covering the presidential campaigns. Check what you wrote in the last few days. This is your first coverage of Edwards, and that's after he went on the Letterman show.
John Edwards has so much to offer to the people of this country. His policies will bring real change to the country and to the political system. American people deserve to hear more from him.
The media however are paying all the attention to their darling Obama, even though they know clearly that he is a dirty politician.
It is time to give Edwards more coverage and give the people in the "grown-up wing" more coverage.
