Really bitter, nasty stuff last night between Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and Barack Obama, D-Illinois.
You can watch an excerpt HERE.
This is clearly the time in the campaign when things get so personal and passionate that candidates and their campaigns lose sight of the big picture and get caught up in their petty hatreds and perceived slights.
Watch the video and get back to me -- tell me what you think. Is Clinton simply the tougher politician? Or is she, as the Obama campaign alleges, just willing to say or do anything to become president?

Dwight B, if you go to Judicial Watch, you can see some of Hillary's White house documents that they just received. There is one interesting one, concerning her health care plan. A note from a senator. He makes a pretty derogatory comment about the CABAL that is handling her health care plan, and their control mechanisms. It is pretty revealing insight as to the dynamics she practices, and what she would practice if put in the oval office. It was pretty good!

take a look at any blog that talks about Democrats. Everyone HATES HILLARY! How is she getting votes? All I read is things like "she needs to go away" "I am sick and tired of Hillary" "Clinton's are liars" it goes on and on.... I concur with these types of statements. Hillary disgusts me! As a woman when I hear her I want plug my ears her screeching voice is sickening! She is so distorted. She makes statements like at the last debate "I have 35 years of experience at the White House". She got away with that statement, the men just let it go right by. Why would not one person either the media or a candidate challenge that statement? She is a liar, and no one calls her on it , I would love to to call her on it!!! If everyone hates her now, how can she possibly be president? I just dont get it........

Hillary is bad for the democrats, bad for the country and in no way should be supported to be president. She will debase -like her husband- the office of the president. She is divisive, dishonest and wouldn't be able to unite the country behind any of her programs.
Barack should never link his name to hers even this means a republican in the Whitehouse.

Hillary is willing to very deliberately, very frequently lie about Obama to get elected. That's really bad, and I hope you'll continue to check the facts on these claims rather than just echo what each side said.
Many of the comments here are a testament to the danger Hillary's dishonesty to the Democratic process. Here you've got people, who may well vote, who are under the impression that Obama is an unaccomplished "empty suit" in spite of all the facts to the contrary. She's having a lot of success with the politics of personal destruction via dishonesty, and the media should help put a stop to it.

ID LOVE TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW INVOLVED HRC WAS IN THE DAILY OPERATIONS OF THE WHITEHOUSE WHEN HER HUSBAND WAS IN POWER, SORRY FORGOT SHE WONT RELEASE THOSE RECORDS. HOW CAN YOU CALL ANYONE INEXPERIENCED WHEN THE ONLY PEICE OF LEGISLATION YOUR KNOWN FOR IS AN HSA BILL THAT DIED WITGHOUT SO MUCH AS GOING TO A VOTE. ILL TAKE MY CHANCES WITH OBAMA. ANYONE WHO THINKS YOU CAN PASS UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE IN THIS CONGRESS WITHOUT FIRST EXPANDING YOUR MAJORITY IS OBVIOUSLY OUT TO LUNCH. THE DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IS IN JEOPARDY. WITH PROGRESS IN IRAQ AND IMMIGRATION LOOMING LARGE ON THE HORIZON, THE ECONONOMY IS THE PREMENENT ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT HILLARY CLINTON THINKS THAT A 90 DAY STOP IN FORCLOSURE ENFORCMENT IS GOOD WHILE ALAN GREENSPAN DISAGREES, MY MONEY IS WITH GREENSPAN ON THIS ONE.
The good news is the ear has 30,000 channels to the brain; the bad news is that they're all nonlinear. (M. B. Sachs)

It would be one thing if the Clintons were running against Senator Obama's record, words, and policy positions as they actually are. Instead, they have decided to ignore Obama's accomplishments, twist his words, and paint a false picture of what he stands for.
Haven't we learned anything from Bush: It doesn't matter if Senator Clinton appears tough, if what she says isn't true.
Hillary has decided to take a dark road; these tactics are bad for the party.

People will start opening their eyes up about Obama. Look at his record and his dealings. He says one thing and then fumbles around to say another thing. He isn't ready to lead this country and I wish that people would see this. Yeah, he is a great talker, but what has he done in the 2 years he has been in the Senate? INEXPERIENCED!!!

I am a lifelong Democrat and I would not vote for Hillary Clinton if a gun were to my head. Her and her husband are so desperate in their grab for power they will gladly drive their party and the country over a cliff to get it. If McCain is the GOP nominee, he will get my vote over Hillary without hesitation. The American people need to do the right thing and flush them and their poisonous politics down the drain forever.

Obama is a great speaker when making a speech but he is lousy at debates. He went into the debate ready to give it all at Hillary (what happened to the hope politics) but he stammered and stumbled on words and didn't appear to be focused.Hillary gave it back to him with both barrels opened. To make things even worse, John Edwards even jumped on him. It was a bad night for Obama, John Edwards did well when given the chance to speak, I was impressed with him. Hillary was tough and knew her stuff, she spoke clearly I was impressed by her as well.

Yes a Socialist giving credit to the Great Prsident Reagan, was an insult to Reagan, but Hilary was right about him in bed with slum lords that is fact he sat on the bord with Relko, and Relko is one of his biggest contributors!!
Obama is a sharleton snake oil salesman and a fairy tale
Posted by: spock | Jan 22, 2008 1:53:12 PM
Obama seemed much tougher than Hillary, who seemed a little unhinged and desperate, particularly with the blatantly false accusations of Obama loving Reagan and being tight with a slumlord. She can kiss this Democrat's vote goodbye!

what was interesting was the discussion over healthcare. clinton/edwards seemed to more or less debate over who could lay claim to the term "universal". obama in typical obama fashion did not regard himself with terms and explained to folks why hillary/edwards plans' do not work. they want to mandate, force, etc... people to get healthcare, putting the owness on people. obama instead wants to lower the costs of healthcare by bringing the providers to the bargaining table in public sessions and bring healthcare to a price that everyone can afford it. i prefer obama's plan

Clinton and Edwards were both more concise in their answers and tougher in their approaches. It often seemed as if Obama was over-thinking his answers. This took away from his message and the number of um's and uh's in his responses didn't help matters. It actually made it appear as if he wasn't very familiar with his own stance on certain topics (e.g. health care, economy) It was definitely uncomfortable. The Democrats need to win back the Presidency and in order to beat the Republican attack machine in the fall our candidate must be tough and quick thinking. Last night's debate didn't help Obama, but it didn't hurt Clinton or Edwards either.

Where is John Edwards? He was right there, watching the whole thing. I am not sure the questioners even remembered he was there for a while.
BUT, when he did get to speak, we heard from a man with a plan, a passion and a purpose other than power. I feel he is capable of beating any of the Rep candidates, esp McCain who wants to keep us in IRAQ forever..

HRC is a tough, smart politician and, in the mold of the last two mayberry Machievelli's to live in the whitehouse, she is willing to say whatever it takes to get elected.
Remember it is better to appear to be virtous than it is to be virtous. For them honor and integrity and all that wishy washy stuff are for the chumps.
Hill and Bill are good at what they do. One should never underestimate them.
The Huckster certainly doesn't. He'll be ready.

Both camps are equally guilty of these actions, he says this, she says that. The only thing about it all that bothers me is that Obama keeps claiming to be above this sort of thing at the same time hes doing it.
Posted by: PVperson | Jan 22, 2008 10:50:07 AM
Most of the comments I am reading here are basically ridiculous. Hillary Clinton, and her run for the Presidency, is in fact the biggest FAIRY TALE in this election. Hillary isn't running for President, Bill is, and EVERYBODY knows it. I've seen this movie before, and IT DOESN'T END WELL.
Give me a break with all the "I thought Obama was different" BS. The only thing different about Obama is he actually BELIEVES what he is saying and has HIS OWN IDEAS about how to help America.
If "the Clintons" want to talk about the issues, they should stop LYING about Senator Obama. This whole "smear/aplogize" cycle is not good for America, no matter how many people say differently on these "comments".

Give it a rest Andy. Bill Clinton was responding to Obama's distortion of his and Hillary's positions on Iraq. Bill called him out because the media would not do it.
Posted by: geevill | Jan 22, 2008 10:23:09 AM
So much for listening and being above partisan politics. A rude, angry phony who lacks manners and cannot respond to criticism. George Bush can take it. Hillary Clinton can take it. Barack Obama can't take it.

Obama should know that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. When he made the crack about Hillary representing Wal-Mart that was just the old-time politics of folks who will do or say anything to get elected. He doth protest too much when he is asked why he dodged votes 130 times! One musn't talk about his drug use or why he praises Reagan. That is unfair. Yet he obviously believes it is fair and "new style" politics when he takes shots at Hillary.

No one likes to see this kind of debate, but ultimately it was the Clintons who got us here by making a series of bizzare statements and distortions over the last week. Obama was forced into a postion where he had to finally respond. If nothing else, at least Clinton has proved that Obama can handle a Republican attack.
Posted by: Andy | Jan 22, 2008 10:18:57 AM
After watching the debate I saw Obama as the man who will not let a woman finish a sentence when she seems to be making her point. He interrupted her more than a dozen times when SHE HAD THE FLOOR, was rude and disruptive and sought to confuse her and get her off topic. Later when it was really his turn to speak, he deliberately twisted her words and also inferred that her campaign was a front for her husband. This is dirty politics at its worst. Earlier in this campaign Obama had my vote. Now I am swinging to Clinton. If Edwards had a chance of beating the Republicans I might go that way. Time and primaries and conventions will tell.
Wouldn't it be ironic if, come November, we are looking at a Democratic ticket of Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton? After all this mud slinging!

"At least Obama has a proven record of success in business and public service, without corruption"
Putting his corruption aside (Rezko), what proven record or anything? tell us please do. Anyone catch Obama using a line about Hillary working for Wal-mart while he was doing something. The same thing Johnson did but got slammed for. Obama WAS doing drugs while Hillary was doing something else, but we are not supposed to say that.
Posted by: geevill | Jan 22, 2008 10:11:43 AM
Hopefully John McCain can win the presidency so the country won't have to go backwards to the awful Clinton years. Hillary Clinton's supporters have a really short memory. Help us Republicans please!

Hillary and Bill just need to go home. I am so tired of them both. If anyone thinks for one second that the Republican establishment is not just drooling with the prospect of a Hillary nomination, they are smoking crack. No other candidate will continue the divide more explosively than HRC. The 2 family dynasty will just go on forever. 8 more of HRC, then we can all look forward to 8 of Jeb. No thanks. I'll take an articulate, educated unifying candidate who is only 45 every day of the week than put up with more of this corporately driven looting of the USA. At least Obama has a proven record of success in business and public service, without corruption. The American public elected a complete failure in business, twice, who made his money on the tax burden of his baseball stadium and declared his income as a capital gains, who has driven this country into the outer abyss on foreign policy, economics, education and tax burdens because he seemed the most fun to share a beer with. If HRC gets elected, then the US deserves what it gets. More corporate give aways, and less accountability.
Where the hell is John Edwards when we need him?

It was an exciting debate. But Hillary is tough, and she doesn't give in... which I think, is a great benefit.

I couldn't AGREE with you more. I've thought from the beginning of this campaign that Obama is just an "empty suit". His inexperience really shows during these senseless debates. I'm frankly sick of them. My vote is for Hillary Clinton anyway, my mind's been made up for a long time. She's the best person for the job.

OK first what Change, what vision is Obama wanting, can anyone explain! And by saying Change or vision, how is that experience to run the country!!
Next time I go for a job interview I will just say change that is why you should hire me!!
Obama is playing dirtier tricks then the Clintons, and he is getting a free ride!!
Posted by: spock | Jan 22, 2008 9:46:16 AM
This is beyond race, gender, religion or partisanship. These old Democrats (the Clintons) know all the tricks of the political game, they have been on it for more than 30 years. Does it make them better qualified to run America? Of course not! Obama is offering a new vision, a united American front, and that is what the Democrats should stand for, not for tough attitudes and sharp tongues of which, of course, the Clintons are the ultimate example of.
Posted by: carmen | Jan 22, 2008 9:41:52 AM
There is a difference between being tough and being agressive, BHRC was very agressive and willing to say anything to be elected.
Posted by: BKMC | Jan 22, 2008 9:41:31 AM
Hillary is tougher but the real answer is this. Obama is just a smooth talking empty suit snake oil salesman. That's it.
