For Spock:
Now Huck's Heart is full of Compassion. And it is true that his Compassion showed while he was Guv of Arkansas.
It is also true that Arkansas turns RED every 4 years. However during interim periods it is a state that is overrun with old time yellow dog democrats. These old timers hold offices from the local dog catcher to high sheriff to governors house and just about everything in between. They are everywhere.
I say Ol'Huck did the best any could amongst the unreconstructed and he definitely gave more than he got. So I give Huck an A as Guv.
Now to Fred. As I recall Fred was a big McCain guy in 2000. Also in 2008. Fred's heart was not in it and he just did not have the juice to do anything other than one line quips at debates here and there. And then he declared war on ol'Huck in SC. Well Huck is turn the other cheek type of guy. But he is also a better man than me. So when Fred called for a fight, we Hucksters were more than happy to give him one.
As far our Man from Massachusetts goes, how do you know he's a conservative. Can't tell from his record. Didn't he imposes some socialized medicine scheme up there. That's not working for me.
From where I sit there is one logical successor to GWB and that's Huck.

The Commander Guy - I likes Hucks Social stands but he governed like a lib in Arkansas which is not a deep blue state, Romney governed the best he could as a conservative in a DEEP Blue state.
Do not get me wrong I will support Huck or Romney if they get the nomination. But is not the primary the time to try and get the best candidate?
As far as Fred he was the only true Conservative running, he covered all three legs of conservatism, not just one or two.
As far as Edwards he will endorse the candidate that promises him the best deal if they get elected!! Obama offered him the AG job, Lets see what Hilary offers ! Edwards is a sell out! How much money did he make off the poor in New Orleans do not forget his companies were the ones foreclosing on the poor!!

I'm surprised that Rudy was not intelligent on Florida..seems the New England hope for a future in Florida may be waning/like the Bush Presidency has motioned/values are the best hope for validation=the economy of real estate and taxes as left Rudy feeling some-what..Americanized...in taxes and reform/the public just wishes a better option was there in the subject line/Florida has lost that tax edge because its NOT American.

"I wish Huck would win too. That would be good for the Dems."
Sort of right. But expanding that though out some and you get that it wouldn't just be good for the Dems.......... Huck winning would be good for ALL AMERICA!
Time for Willard Romney to go.

Vanessa - A little History - Which party is trying to tell you how to live? Which party Flourished through Racism? Which party can't even bring themselves to say Liberty? The Democrat Party!!
They are throwing the race card! They are destroying the economy!
It is sad that no one knows history anymore!!
Edwards Lost SC as VP, that went to President Bush
Posted by: spock | Jan 30, 2008 3:32:51 PM
Ha Ralph Nader wasted not time after todays announcement of Edwards dropping out of the race, he is announcing today that he is launching the exploratory committed to run for the Presidency in 2008. He plans to oppose the two remaining candidates funded by corporations and lobbyists!!

does anybody notice that i posted twice, they were up a few minutes and now they are removed? i didn't insult anyone, curse, or provoke arguement. all i did was honestly put forth an effort to learn more about the cnadidates' supporters. the censors are out in full force. this is the kind of stuff Ron Paul supporters are talking about...they are not given the same opportunity to voice their reasons for supporting him. yes, there are a few that don't know how to debate in a civil manner but many do and get axed. was anyone offended by what i posted earlier? please speak up if you were.

Edwards will come back and come back strong as did Reagan when he lost twice when running for the Republican nomination or Bill Clinton when he lost the election for Governor in Arkansas, or even McCain now after losing to Bush 8 years ago. The way Edwards is leaving is classy (using some of the Obama words today) and Edwards showed he led and shaped the Democratic agenda; he still very young and he will be back strong!
GO EDWARDS! so long for now, you will be back, we know it!

I wish Huck would win too. That would be good for the Dems.
Let's remind the American people who the Republicans really are. They are bigots who spend their time hating people and telling others how to live their life.
GO HUCK
Posted by: Vanessa | Jan 30, 2008 1:05:49 PM
Now the white male won't be split. Clinton will get more white vote. Just like Obama got 90 percent of the black vote in SOuth Carolina. Michael Jackson or OJ Simpsone would of won big in South Carolina

MITT! should be the one that drops out.
As far as Spock is concerned - he's still upset that Phony Phred dropped out. Now he's shilling for Massachusetts Mitt.
This guy is the GOP version of Billary. He changes his positions to suit the needs of the particular crowd he's talking to. This guy flip flops so much he could make Jon Cary blush.
Do we really need another Massachusetts Liberal running for President. You'd think that 2004 was enough.
Huck's the guy to carry the ball forward.
VOTE HUCK.

The American people and the press want a more interesting reality tv show then edwards and Rudy can give.
Rudy really messed up with staying out of the conversation by forgoing Iowa and NH and Edwards lost in 04 and no one wants to vote for a looser.
To the Republicans credit they understand that WE ARE AT WAR and you can not elect a pretty, polished person to office just because you are sick of looking and listening to the experienced leaders. I am talking about Obama and Hillary.
Democrats are in for a tough race against McCain and I am not sure Obama has the know it all to win against McCain. Hillary knows what to do and how to do it. Obama is just to young and inexperienced and we are to desperate for leadership and problem solving right now.
I wish Democratic voters were as smart as Republican voters. McCain is the right choice for Republicans and Democrats should be very cautions when choosing Obama to run against him.

Rudy Giuliani never had a real chance of winning the Republican nomination. He is just too liberal on social issues.
John Edwards was steamrolled by the monumental and historical opportunity for the Democratic Party to select a women OR an African-American to be their party's nominee for President of the United States.
Posted by: James Danley | Jan 30, 2008 12:35:48 PM
They both demonstrated than the American public won't support what they perceive as one-issue campaigns.
In the case of Giuliani, their perception was correct.
In the case of Edwards, they took him at his soundbite word. His positions and programs were actually much broader, but his image was poverty, unions and populism. He never broadened his appeal, and never made any effort to show he wasn't planning to destroy the middle class. Most peopl want to move from working class to middle class, and he wasn't making that look like a smart move if he were President.

What happened in the Democratic party is that the media fell in love with its favorite story line Obama v Clinton and gave no air time to other candidates (this also affected the chances of Richardson, Dodd and Biden). The media-- all of it- mainstream, cable, internet needs to start playing fair. Its too late now but the next time around they've got to report the news not create a story and shoehorn their coverage into it.
On the Republican side it was a case of Mr. Guilani not having anything to say but terrorism and 9-11. The president of the United States has to have more ideas than that.

what went wrong? Neither of them won anything...
Posted by: phillygirl64 | Jan 30, 2008 11:57:05 AM
Edwards is damaged goods. In politics that usually means you are out for good. His loss as VP candidate in the 2000 election against Cheney shows how useless he is. For god's sake, he lost to CHENEY!

Ron Paul and Huckabee should pull out already!!
The press should shut up and just report.
The front runner up until Florida was Romney but all you heard was that McCain was! How was that when Romney had the most delegates?
McCain did not even pull higher then he did in 2000, he only won because Huckabee and Paul pulled votes.
This whole thing that McCain can beat Hilary is garbage because think of something how can he win if true conservatives do not support him!!
Remember he called 80% of america Bigots ! He has an attitude that if the people do not agree with him then the people are wrong. He stabbed Conservatives in the back He should be running on the democrat ticket, oh thats right Kerry asked him to, but he did not.

If Ron Paul got half the MSM attention as Edwards and Rudy he be in the lead..Dont let the MSM brain wash you ...Google Ron Paul ..make up your own mine...

i am sad for america, no words.

ok Mike_California - Edwards has more money the Obama and 1/2 of Hilary Combined
Edwards had no chance, he purposely ran to help Obama, just like Huckabee is running to help McCain.
Edwards lost big in 2004, he could not win in his home state.
Guiliani well, bad decision, and with that shows that he would of made bad decisions as President. And as expected if he supports McCain then all respect for him is gone, because what happened to the comments about running a City or State from him for experience!!
Yes we need Huckabee to pull out so he does not take votes from Romney, because MCCain is only winning because Huckabee is pulling votes from Romney or as he pulled from Thompson.
This is planned on their part I bet McCain will pick Huckabee
Obama if he wins will I thought before all he would ask Clinton but I bet he asks Gore!! and Edwards for AG.
Chuck you ask what is wrong with both campaigns - two things the mainstream media is trying to pick both candidates, remember they both are prodigies of the media, no one would know who McCaion is and Definitely who Obama is if it was not for the Press.
the liberal media wants the most liberal candidates so they win either way.
That is why they purposely ignored or attacked Thompson the most conservative, that is why they attack Romneys religion but yet protect Obamas unknown religion. And they go out of their way to protect Obama.
They are hoping for a McCain v Obama.
Now as Americans this Election we should go to the priomaries of either party if you want and vote out the incumbant politician and put another in from your party if you want. and if that does not work for you at the general election vote for the NON-Incumbent.
Lets force Term limits also if you want to fix Washington put a Candidate in the Presidency who is not from there like Romney!! Putting McCain, Obama or Hilary all Washington insiders in the office will not change things and only make them worse!!
Posted by: spock | Jan 30, 2008 10:37:38 AM
I don't think Edwards had a chance to begin with. During the 2004 election, Edwards lost his state, county and hometown.
My question is if Elizabeth Edwards ok? I haven't seen her in a long time.
Posted by: Susan | Jan 30, 2008 10:37:10 AM
Who cares!!!
Now if only that worthless Huckabee would drop out and make room for Ron Paul, then the press will no longer have a convenient excuse to ignore him and keep his face off their news sites.
Posted by: Rick Cain | Jan 30, 2008 9:43:58 AM
What went wrong in both campaigns? Mayor Giuliani could never broaden his support beyond his one-issue campaign ("Vote for me and I'll keep you safe from terrorists, but I don't have any good solutions for the rest of our problems."). Sen. Edwards gained little support while portraying himself as a populist who gets $400 haircuts and who was paid exorbitant fees consulting for hedge fund managers.
What will be eminently more interesting in this human drama is who the dearly departed will endorse for the remainder of the campaign: Giuliani is set to endorse McCain--no surprise, but Edwards is the wild card.

Sad day for America and the Democrat party! It proves once again that big money, big political machines, big corporations and the media will always will fight to bring down the best candidates in the race, as they did with Robert Kennedy before he was assassinated, Gary Hart, Paul Tsongas, Bradley, Dean, etc. Edwards is the best candidate for the people for America; but his voice was shut up from the beginning by the big powers representing the other two candidates. Edwards still very young and he earned a leadership role within the thousands of people that followed him and the many thousands that were frustrated because his message was never heard in the same way the media was covering the other candidates. Edwards will be back, he still young and he will be back strong, his people will follow him because they trusted his words and his sincerity!
I''ll be back to be an Independent and wait for him to run again or for another candidate representing his values, vision, and leadership.

I never understood why Guiliani left NH to campaign in FLA in the final weeks. I recall watching a focus group in which one NH voter said she didn't think Guiliani wanted her vote. He forfeited votes and, in turn, momentum.

Edwards should endorse Obama for the betterment of the country, not himself. His support would do much better in the Obama camp.
Posted by: Jeremy | Jan 30, 2008 9:25:17 AM
Well, I don't know what went wrong. But I think if Edwards truly wants to capitalize on his presidential bid, he should endorse Obama.
