The greatest gift we can give to Drug Dealers is the tax rebate checks we are being led to assume we will be getting before mid summer. This money will be a big big windfall to Drug Dealers across America.

marijuana has NO proven harmful effects other than a reduced reaction time of 30% - the same reaction reduction you get after EATING A LARGE MEAL!

This is just an example of a politican saying one thing at one time for a bunch of votes and then something else at another time for a bunch of votes. Just goes to prove that Obama is just like every other politican.

This is great news. This means that he actually thinks about issues, and does not plan to govern by status quo, a static approach to government that doesn't help anybody. I think he just earned my vote in the upcoming primary.

thanks for the preview of GOP talking points for the general election. it's nice of you to reveal the smear strategy you and your fellow republicans have planned.

Come to The Netherlands, where marihuana and other leaves have been legalized and take a look at the crime rate and how full prisons are: the crime rate is extremely low and prisons look like luxury hotels, because the use of marihuana is controlled, just 5 grams a day showing your passport and the government is getting taxes on top of it..This of course has nothing to do with Sen.Obama, he is very much admired all over Europe, you are very lucky he is American and wants to change your image in the world...

I wonder if Obama ever inhaled?
Posted by: CriminalizeSocialism | Jan 31, 2008 1:19:34 PM
decriminalization will lead to regulation. yes there will be abusers like there are with alcohol. but they are already there and there is no benefit to putting them in jail over it. It WILL stop or at least slow down much of the illegal drug traffic from our souther border and most importantly open the door for industrial hemp as a cash crop, hemp can be used for paper, clothing, fuel, oil for plastics, and as a food source. It can grow under some of the poorest conditions and actually leaves the soil healthier.

OUCH guys. I don't know that is using these substances now. He is awfully refreshed looking and able to give excellent speeches.
I may be angry at the press for not really pummeling him like Clinton on 1987 statements but does anyone really think Obama is using drugs NOW? Yikes. I do not believe it, as someone who knows what people look and act like under the influence or in need of the influence.

You're playing fast and loose with the difference between decriminalization and legalization, Jake, so maybe you should clarify the two for your readers. Also, I couldn't help noticing that you link to the "Washington Times," an ultraconservative, reactionary newspaper which makes the "Chicago Tribune" look like extreme left-wing radicals. A trusted source, perhaps?

Well then I guess ole BillyBoy can inhale then can't he.
Really going back to 2004...let's give him a chance to address it, explain it or maybe like Clinton say he didn't understand the vote or just say "gee I'm sorry".
If you went back on Billary I can't imagine how many things you could come up with. One topic...Pork barrell. Try it.

As an African American female who works with our low-income population, I have to say this is not a good idea...

Missouri 1/24 44 31
New Mexico Old Poll +9 Clinton

Delaware Old Poll +24 Clinton
Idaho Old Poll -02 Clinton
HRC - Hillary Clinton
BHO - Barack Obama
There are a few other states, most with very low delegates and small populations lik Alaska, North Dakota, and Montana. I think Obama is leading there.
But those numbers above do NOT reflect the coverage by the news media AT ALL.
They are calling this a neck-and-neck, state-by-state race that will go down to the wire with no one clearly ahead and the delegates about even.
If you win the majority of delegats in Cali, NY, NJ, and Mass, you have a huge lead over someone that wins 15 western, mountain, or central plain states. That is just a fact.
PS I hope this poll chart I made is OK. I don't know what it is going to look like once I hit POST. I grabbed these polls from USAELECTIONPOLLS.COM, and chose Super Tuesday Polls.

ya but atleast Obama is honest, un-like past presidents we have had..Obama would be a good president in the long run..but the fact is our country is going down hill and we need someone with some experiance to handle the situation with the economy, ect. Even though im a Obama fan, im going to have to go ahead and say its not the right time for him..

And it's not just pot, what about cocaine?? Obama freely admitted in his book that he used it frequently. I for one don't want a coke/pot head in the Oval Office. We've already experienced 7 years from what alcohol abuse can do to someone, do we now need to experience the mistakes a coke/pot head will make?? Is this what we've come to?? And why isn't the PRESS ALL OVER THIS?????????

how about criminalizing alcohol a.k.a. the most dangerous drug known to man....I challenge anyone to disagree with me on that
Posted by: chris | Jan 31, 2008 11:20:25 AM
I think it's high time we re-think the big government conservatives and their stupid drug war. Why do we have more folks in prison than China does? I'm an erstwhile GOP voter, but I have real problems with this. The drug war seems to be McCain's 'endless war' platform on training wheels. I'd love to see real changes in how we handle marijuana offenders. A vast prison population, no knock raids on the wrong houses, confiscation of property to fund the local police department before a suspect is proven guilty - it's UN-AMERICAN in the extreme.

"But I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana." He also said that...
