An Interesting Addition
February 25, 2008 12:44 PM
Coming off this morning's controversy, we were just told that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, this afternoon will now drop by and visit "Delta Days," a convention of alumnae and sorors of Delta Sigma Theta, a predominantly African-American sorority.
She will be accompanied by Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Hmmmm.

Dear Soror,
we may not be able to endorse anyone, but we have a mandate to register people to vote. If you feel the power of 250,000 women is not helpful, then you picked the wrong sorority.

She had to do something to make her pandering to Tavis Smiley not look like pandering.

So let me get this straight, If Hillary goes to an all black community its a tactic but if Obama goes to an all black community its ok because he is black? So is it a tactic if Obama speaks at an all white community?

Gabe, it is more of hillary's tactics to try and win at all costs. She is trying to cause fear and uneasiness in the voters by trying to portray Obama as being a muslim. this is why Hillary is losing her support because of her lack of leadership, and dirty politics. Just so you know.

ok,so Obama in his trip to Africa gets in this garb as a sign of respect to the culture. I get that. But what I don't get is the fact that he accuses the Clinton campaign of being divisive by sharing this photo with the world. They didn't take the picture, the picutre existed prior to this campaign. Even if they shared it with the world and took it, he thinks the photo is divisive. He fears that people will think he's a closeted muslim and not vote for him, or that it preys on American fears of foreigners. The photo isn't what bothers me, though it really is an unflattering photograph. His response is what bothers me. He just dissed a culture, a people completely. His campaign's overall statement that this photo is a smear tactic makes the photo a smear. He is now smearing a foreign culture, and by doing so, without realizing he smeared his own image of inclusiveness and tolerance. I realize he's now clarified his position but its a bit after the fact, when obviously the campaigns first reaction didn't play as well. He's owned up to lapses in judgement (drug use) and we tolerated it and or forgave him for it. But to now take a photo that could be easily be explained away with a laugh as a bad picture of a good thing he did by honoring another culture, and claiming its divise shows his lack of respect of that culture, and now makes him seem hypocritical.
No, the picutre isn't what is making me change my mind about him, it's his poor handling of this, and a couple of other things recently that is showing his true nature. He comes across as two faced: he's nice when the cameras are rolling but not so nice when he's caught off guard. I say this because of his very dismissive, unfriendly and un-Obama-like response to what he thought about Nader entering the race, his flippant comment of Hillary during the debates in New Hampshire, etc. Obama, when he is forced to respond "off script" can be a rather rude, dismissive and flippant. With Hillary you know she is to the point (and not warm and fuzzy), but with Obama I'm not sure we all really know what we are getting in to. Except that now with his most recent response I 've gotten a clearer picture of him. I hate to say it, but I can't trust the man anymore, he's now starting to come across as a snake oil salesman: friendly and nice when it serves his purpose.
Sorry, Obama, for me, the photo isn't what did you in, it was your response to it.

what does dressing in an african custom mean?? Of course Maggie Williams and the rest of the SKUNKS think that this is effective politics. Beware, WHEN the dust settles, you all would have burnt your bridges with nowhere else to run. and not IF

I did the only thing I could think of doing - I wrote an email to the National Democratic Committee offices, practically BEGGING the party to come out against the use of racism in any form as a tactic.
I know sending it to the Clinton campaign will get nowhere. After all, they refuse to deny they sent the photo out, with their charming little email wrapper. The only consolation is that even Clinton supporters can't stomach this one.

An interesting addition. America has three candidates.
1) Sen. Clinton, she would say or do anything to be President of America. She has 35years of experience minus NAFTA, sex scandals by Bill and Whitewater scandal. 35years should be the full 35years, she can't pick or choose.
2) Sen. Obama, an unknown Senator from Illinois. Some people don't like him because they don't know a lot about him. He was the underdog and now things have changed. What happened? Is he what America needs?
3) Sen. McCain, war hero, straight talker and reformer. Good resume. He wants to keep our young ones in Iraq for 100 years. He doesn't understand the economy. What does he have to offer right now. America, do you want more Bush years?
America is at a crossroad, whom do we choose? Where do we go?

catherine in nm...
You are so right...don't believe the polls. That means that your candidate isn't leading in Ohio, is she?
Or am I reading those polls wrong? :P

Best I can tell Obama is slip...slip...sliding ........ Don't believe the polls.

Hillary is the best candidate we have. If you do the research you will find that Obama's camp is planting the negative stories and posing as someone from Clinton's campaign. dirty politics from a person that is running a campaign based on change

I would like to give Hillary Clinton the benefit of the doubt and believe it was one of her staffers who sent this out without her permission. Still, that means she has surrounded herself with skunks. She needs to come out and denounce who ever sent it, and say that all politicians wear clothing from the countries they're visiting. If this was purposefully sent out by someone, they know exactly what sort of flames they were fanning. Disgusting! Just because they're going down, it doesn't mean they have to bring us all with them. Obama has a lot of dignity and perspective. He will use this to deflect people's fear that he isn't patriotic enough or christian enough while showing he has had foreign affairs experience.
Obama '08!

Why do Obama supporters want Hillary to exit the race before the people get to vote?
Last I checked neither candidate has the delegates to get the nomination. Neither one of them are even close.
These are the rules people.
Don't Obama supporters think the people should decide who is the winner? Don't they believe in democracy or is this the "change" they are talking about?
What happened to the politics of "HOPE?"

Wouldn't be nice if the Obama supporters knew how to do research before they open their uninformed mouths?
The Clinton campaign did not make this photo. It was ALREADY PUBLIC. Guess who made it public...OBAMA! There is a video that goes with it on Amazon.com for $11.99. Guess what...Obama sanctioned the video as well.
My question is...why are the Obama supporters mad at Hillary for something their candidate did? Furthermore it is an innocent picture so they should be defending it. DEFEND YOUR MAN OBAMA SUPPORTERS!!! or is it easier to attack Hillary.
What should scare and outrage every Democrat is that these people are actually allowed to vote.
Be informed and learn about your candidate before you try to sell him to me.
