Ken,
What a ridiculous post. Obama never claimed that they were within 1% or 2%, it was polls.
He did not lose by more than 20%, it was actually 9% and almost all of the difference was due to landslide support for Clinton by Latino vote. It wasn't that these voters were "more intelligent" than any other voters. It is more like they were low information voters who were guided by historical feelings to the Clintons and Latino leadership by the party (especially the Mayor of Losa Angeles) that supported her.
Just because "some internet sites" suggest that Michael Bloomberg makes a run for it, doesn't mean it is going to happen. Besides what makes you think he will divide the Democrat vote with Obama. It is more like he will divide the boring 60+ YO vote.
To suggest that Clinton will pull a Lieberman and endorse a former Republican as a candidate with the knowledge that it will throw the election to McCain is delusional.
Her differences with Obama are not one of substance, their policy positions are fairly close. That is why their arguments have been one about who would be better able to implement those set of policies.

I watched the entire speech and I thought it was a beautiful, heart-felt speech - full of hope and empathy for regular Americans. Michelle Obama does have her own voice - and it is certainly not the drone of a well-vetted, focus-group-tested speech. It is the voice of those farmers in Iowa (and yes, I know them - my father was an Iowa farmer), and the voices of those people on the south side of Chicago, and the voice of women like my mother, who worked every single day from when she was six to when she was 90 - and survived on next to nothing - through the Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton administrations - with no measurable changes. Those were not very hopeful years - although I am sure that a number of Manhantanites did quite well, and did not have to send their children to Iraq to fulfill the delusion of the Neocons. I am proud to be an American today as well - and I hope that the people who seem to have endless leisure time to post polemic messages on these internet sites find a new way to channel their energy - into action that may help another human being.
And to the guy who asked why Obama won't debate? Perhaps he has been abroad. There have been 18 democratic debates.

Reality Check:
Bill and Hillary were in Texas in 1972.
Cnn Poll before Obama makes his sweep.
20,000 tickets for Houston rally gone.
Houston Chronicle, most Tx Newspapers endorse Obama.
Ted Kennedy in South Texas this week.
Mexican-American Democrats endorse Obama.
Jim Hightower stumps for Obama.
Huge grassroots effort linked by Internet.
Need I say more?

As a followup to my comment, there is a new report from Politico.com by Roger Simon that is very enlightening. Simon reports that Sen. Clinton's campaign intends to go after Sen. Obama's pledged delegates. Not the superdelegates, but his pledged delegates. Simon writes:
"What? Isn't that impossible? A pledged delegate is pledged to a particular candidate and cannot switch, right?
"Wrong.
"Pledged delegates are not really pledged at all, not even on the first ballot. This has been an open secret in the party for years, but it has never really mattered because there has almost always been a clear victor by the time the convention convened.
"But not this time. This time, one candidate may enter the convention leading by just a few pledged delegates, and those delegates may find themselves being promised the sun, moon and stars to switch sides."
He continues with: "But, in fact, the actual rules of the party allow for such switching. The notion that pledged delegates must vote for a certain candidate is, according to the Democratic National Committee, a 'myth.'"
________
The Clinton's will do anything, and I mean anything, to win the nomination. Remember these are the folks that had the FBI files of nearly 1,000 prominent Republicans. Do you honestly think it inconceivable that they might have FBI files of prominent Democrats? Do you honestly think it inconceivable that they would use the information contained in these files? If you think that, then you don't know the Clintons.

Hillary is popular in Texas along the border. The machine will bring in illegals to swing the vote to Sen Clinton there. We are organized to vote for Sen Obama as an antiHillary vote.

What CNN does not report speaks volumes. Check out ABCNews once in a while. Michelle Obama: "For the First Time in My Adult Lifetime, I'm Really Proud of My Country"

Hillary had a double digit lead last week. Now it's down to a dead heat.
With all the negatives and backstabbing she's doing can only hurt her.
And then this plagiarizing thing she's trying to pin on Obama. The news media is finding all she plagiarized, laughing and making jokes like she scraping the bottom of the barrel for dirt.
What a bonehead move!!!!!!!!

Frankly speaking, Obama is an honest man no doubt. He addmited that he did borrow words But the CLINTONS will never admit true even if it is true or broad. She will never apologize why she voted to authorize IRAQ words. Bill did not and will not admit the scandal in the White House with Monica. WAKE UP PEOPLE !!! THEY ARE FOOLINGUS WITH ALL THEIR LIES. I hope Obama wins TEXA .

"Obama will win Texas. Hillary will concede the nomination on March 5th. Mark my words."
Not likely! She might lose, but she won't concede. She will take the fight right to the floor of the convention. She will fight tooth and nail for the Michigan and Florida delegates to be seated. And she and Bill will call in every favor they have and pull every trick in the book to get the superdelegates to support her for the nomination.

These primaries getting to be a bit silly. You have Hillary Clinton busing people to her rallies in Wisconsin to give the illusion that more than a dozen people are listening to her. Her town hall meeting consists of people planted with questions she already has the answers for. Bill Clinton is beating up anyone who disagrees with him. The campaign is based on lies and deception. If Hillary is nominated, my vote goes to McCain.

-- The delegates are skewed to the cities which overwhelmingly support Obama. --
...you mean like he won San Diego
and Los Angeles overwhelmingly?
Big border state, with big cities.
Very similar demographics to CA,
except that many more men are
registered Republican in TX.
Polls had Obama closing to within
2 points in CA also. He lost by 20.

I have relatives in Texas, and from what they tell me Hillary is very popular in Texas, and a ton of supporters. Hillary has a very good chance winning the state.
Posted by: Elaine | Feb 19, 2008 12:57:19 AM
Roy G even if you discount the polls and used your figures she still lose the delegate contest. South TX does not have as many delegates as the big cities which will go to Barak.
So stick the fork in she is done.

I have faith that Obama will win Texas he is only behind a few percent. Those numbers will help in the voting community. Texas will have a change of heart. Look inside your heart and decide who will be the best president. We need a strong person like Obama. Obama will not give up without a fight. He still have a chance. Im for obama. He is the best canidate for the job as being the president of the united states. He has credibility and monumentum. GO IN TEXAS OBAMA OBAMA.

TEXANS FOR OBAMA!
MAY GOD GIVE YOU THE VICTORY!

Let's pray that Obama does not win Texas. He's still wet behind the ears, is arrogant, cocky, plagiarizes other's speeches, is rude and ill-mannered. Hillary would make the best President. It's too bad the macho media gives him great press which is distorted and misleading and trashes Hillary unfairly. Go Hillary, hang in their.

well, arent you Obamanites, cocky,, its not over yet, lets not jump to fast to the punch , you see which area did they take the poll, because which city did they call, to see how many followers he has,, well it just might be a mistake to close this contest up too soon, just might backfire, so is Obama going to speak his own words, or is flyers going to credit each quote that makes up his speaches,,, the saint has your shirts pulled over your head,,, arent we going to be surpised if somethin comes out of his closet before election day, the man is not god,,, put maybe those who follow has some real issues,,, to send to his office so he can deal his words from someone elses words,,,,, vote experience ,,,, not words that are passed off as his own, if so will we please look over all those F s that college professors gave out, for dishonesty plagiarism

I won't use the Alamo as the symbol for Hillary's defeat in our great state....it WILL be a huge victory to Texas to destroy her campaign.
I am counting on every city and county across this state to vote her down. We Texans don't like Clinton dirty politics and desperate attack ads.
Let's see, she fires a Latino in her campaign...then goes to El Paso to rally the Hispanic vote. That was so shallow and disgusting. I'm pretty sure our fellow Latino Texans see thru her cheap ploy.

Brad, Hillary will never concede. Her campaign is already preparing its next explanation for a possible loss in Texas, and why it won't matter. I admire that tough, scrapper side of her (although I don't appreciate the low hits she is willing to go for). But I am convinced that Obama is has the qualities we need for a true leader (finally!) for this country.

The CNN poll was done before Obama visited Texas.
All 20,000 tickets for the Houston Rally are gone...in less than two days.
Ted Kennedy is going to South Texas.
We've only begun to win this state for Obama!
Posted by: JB | Feb 18, 2008 9:38:58 PM
Wouldn't it be ironic if Texas is the last straw for Hillary and then Barack goes on to win. After all the "worst-in-history" things that have come out of Texas. Maybe there really is Hope for this country yet. Obama 2008!!!
Posted by: pt | Feb 18, 2008 9:13:22 PM
wow Brad, I sure do hope you're right! After I find a vacation spot in Iowa, Texas might be next on the list.
There really ARE good people all over this country! And smart ones too.
Go Barack! I would love to salute you as my Commander in Chief!

Will some Obamabot explain to me exactly what change will Obama bring? America will still hold a 48 trillion debt. China will still out compete you. Japanese cars still outsell american. Jobs will still be outsourced to India. Iran will get their nuclear weapons, for sure with Obama. Iran will win in Iraq resulting in two more middle east wars. The stock market will do what the stock market always does. And on and on. What change are you talking about?
Posted by: Wil | Feb 18, 2008 8:35:16 PM
CNN? Yeah well, they're not usually accurate. Any other polls to speak of?
Posted by: irma | Feb 18, 2008 8:34:52 PM
I hope not! Polls are not always right. You never know what people are going to when they get in the polls.
I voted for Obama. That was a HUGE mistake. Wish I could take that vote.
Go Hillary, if not then GO McCain!!!!

Even If That's True And It Just Maybe Because People In The Us Especially Blacks And I'am Black Wants A President Just Because He's Black,Guess What Even If That Happens,I Personnaly Will Vote For Mcain,And I'am Sure A Lot Of Senator Clinton Supporters Will Do The Same,And It Won't Be Because He Earned It It Will Be Well Because He's Black,Good Reason To Elect A President HUH,And BWT Name Me One Single Thing That Obama Has Done For Blacks And America Except Move The Crowd,Inspire Us,Makes Us Faint,He's Honest,The Crowds He Draws,Sound Like A Damn Culp To Me.Mr Obama Will Never Get To The Whitehouse And You Can Mark My Words On That Obama Freak.

I hope you are right - I am crossing my fingers! GO OBAMA!!!!
Posted by: Obamacan | Feb 18, 2008 6:57:39 PM
I live in Texas, I know Texas, and I know Texas Democrats and how our primary/caucus works. I GUARANTEE you Obama will win more delegates in Texas than Hillary.
The delegates are skewed to the cities which overwhelmingly support Obama. East Texas will vote Obama. West/ South Texas will be her only saving grace, but they will not be enough.
Obama will win Texas. Hillary will concede the nomination on March 5th. Mark my words.
